Blue Water Cafe
The striking dining room provides active views of the “East meets West” kitchen and Raw Bar. The sweeping main bar leads out to the heated patio and the private dining rooms, which hold our deep and diverse wine collection.
Housed in a handsome brick and beam heritage warehouse conversion, Blue Water Cafe is in the heart of the historic and vibrant Yaletown neighbourhood.
Please note: online reservations are available for parties of up to 12 guests. For larger parties, please call. Reservations are not required for seats at our bar.
Pork cheek starter was amazing, then had the char and lingcod which were among the best fish dishes we’ve had. Highly recommend
What a treat to find. Ambience outstanding due to large amount of wood keeping the noise level down. Service was friendly and very knowledgeable. And the food just wonderful. Top quality ingredients and preparations. No gripes at all. Liquor pours are a bit stingy, but that's true in most of area restaurants. I will return at next opportunity.
The service was exceptionally along with the appetizers and desserts (the pistachio creme brulee is to die for).
The food was AMAZING as usual. We love this restaurant for it's service and food. We tried their sushi for the first time and we are huge sushi fans....we could not believe how delicious their sushi was!! Definitely coming back for sushi next time we come. Took away one star because the service was A LOT slower than we expected and what we were use to.
Over the years we have dined at Blue Water, & it never disappoints. The staff is friendly, the service efficient (our server was very good) & the food delicious. This is a restaurant that maintains it's quality of service, food & atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit.
Sablefish was tasteless. Very very disappointing. Salad was fresh and flavorful.
Great meal, outstanding staff and very good personal attention to the guest. Evening would have been perfect without the noisy and rude family behind us but staff did their best to find us other seats!
Great seafood and very very good service, our waitress was amazing. Knowledgeable personable efficient and super friendly. This was our very first visit to Vancouver and to the Blue Water but I assure you I hope to return soon. Loved it.
Blue Water has seen better days. For me the visit was nostalgic. I had been there before a few years ago. The food was too salty. This used to be a restaurant on the leading edge but it seems to simply be resting upon its laurels. If you like salty, rich and unimaginative cuisine then blue water is for you.
Not as unique or good as one would expect from the supposed best restaurant in Vancouver.
I wanted to like this restaurant. We were looking for great seafood. The food was good, the restaurant was very pretty, but the service and welcome were very cold.
The food was pricey, but it tasted good. I'm not sure I would order the Char again - I had never had it and it wasn't anything spectacular.
Our server - I can't even remember his name - seemed a little disenfranchised by us since we were in jeans. Unfortunately, this caused him to not pay as much attention to us.
Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I don't think I'd recommend this place to a friend.
what a fantastic place the best in Vancouver the service and food top notch!!!
Blue Water Cafe is a top quality, comfortable restaurant with a highly trained professional waitstaff. We had a wonderful evening and everything we ate was delicious. It's the kind of place that makes you wonder why most restaurants are so inferior. They have their act together. It is #1 in my opinion of all the places we've eaten while visiting Vancouver.
It is always gratifying when a restaurant picked by dissecting a web site excedes expectations. The Blue Water Cafe did exactly that. The food was sensational, the service professionally rendered with a personal touch and the ambiance subdued but elegant. We would not hesitate to spend an evening here again. As a side note, our evening at the Blue Water occupied almost 3 hours, always a good indication of a rewarding dining experience.
Amazing service, very efficient and attentive. Seafood was first class, made to perfection and a generous portion. Can’t wait to dine again!
Outstanding service and top quality food and presentation, Blue Water Café is the gold standard for seafood in Vancouver.
Service was excellent as always. I’ve constantly chosen Blue Water to entertain out of town guests fir business for 10 years. I thought my halibut was ok. Last month the sable fish was ok. Normally everything is full of flavour and delicious. Not sure what is happening.
Always a special meal when we dine there. Exceptional service as well. You do pay for it but it’s worth every penny!
The service was outstanding! Atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed the food and would highly recommend the Sablefish! Definitely a must visit in Vancouver.
One of the best Fish Restaurants ever, highly recommended!
Perfect food with exceptional service.
This is my favorite restaurant in Vancouver ! The ambience has a great vibe . The food is creative and so flavorful! Service is also top notch
Outstanding food and service. Will recommend to our foodie friends.
great food and outstanding service - busy late afternoon/early evening. The noise level is something that could be improved, it's quite noisy when most tables are occupied
Still dreaming how I can get back from Florida for more sushi!!! And Our waitress Kimberly was fantastic!!!!
My wife and I enjoyed our second wedding anniversary and all of the staff made it very special.
Thank you everyone for a nice evening.
Quite impressed with the food, great wine list, very friendly and accommodating service. In a delightfully edgy appearing former warehouse area of Vancouver, with impressive and comfortable dining environment. Certainly an easy recommendation for nice dining in Vancouver.
Wonderful service, meal, ambiance and more!! Our waiter Roddy was on it and we even received an congratulatory anniversary card from management.
Really terrific! The best tuna (cooked) anywhere! We didn’t have the best waiter - he wasn’t really attentive but the other waiters looked much more “with it.” The food was excellent. People were dressed up too which was lovely.
The service was excellent. Cocktails were good. Shellfish plateau was delicious as oysters are nice and fresh. Sushi was so so. The material was not bad but was not fresh. It was served slightly warm so the sashimi was a bit moos-hi. Rolls are not wrapped tightly enough and rice was not evenly wrapped around. The tenderloin was nicely grilled but you can tell that the beef was not top quality. Overall, it was an ok restaurant, but
We were unfortunately too close to lunch to fully enjoy the options on the menu. This was my third time to the restaurant and it is one of my favourites in Vancouver. We shared the crab and seaweed salad app which was fresh and had fresh crab flavour, followed by a variety of sushi which were all scrumptious. The sablefish aburi style was my top pick!
Excellent food, excellent service. Rightly considered one of the best in town.
It was our five year wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it at Blue Water Cafe. We sat out on the patio even though it was raining but we were well covered as well as kept warm by the outdoor heaters as well as blankets provided by the restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable.
Excellent service and food. All the seafood was incredible!
The Welcome at the door was not welcomming at all, no hello, no smile, just an arrogant lady. We had a table atside, that was wonderful. The waitress was very kind and took the time to chech what we expect from the night. The oisters were delightful, the tasting for two was ok, not spectaculair. After the last bite of the tasting the main was served, way to soon, we did not even had a bottle of wine picked out. But the main course was very teasty. We ended with a wonderfull chocolade cake and dessert wine and had a great evening.
Excellent service and ambience. Our server was knowledgeable and food came nicely spread apart.
Only issue was that the char was slightly under done and needed to be cooked a bit more.
One night in Vancouver and if you like fish and sushi then this is the place
Usually my favourite restaurant. Bit surprised this time with the quality. Fish was way over cooked. Perhaps a one off as it is usually 5 stars all the way.
The food was to die for ...we even cancelled another reservation we had to go back to Blue Water Café. The drinks, the wine, the raw bar, the fish were all outstanding.
To my fellow french canadians ... vous allez adorer! Tout simplement sublime!
Celebrated our 45th anniversary with delicious food & excellent service. Had to take late reservations but it was worth the wait.
