Blue Water Cafe
The striking dining room provides active views of the “East meets West” kitchen and Raw Bar. The sweeping main bar leads out to the heated patio and the private dining rooms, which hold our deep and diverse wine collection.
Housed in a handsome brick and beam heritage warehouse conversion, Blue Water Cafe is in the heart of the historic and vibrant Yaletown neighbourhood.
Please note: online reservations are available for parties of up to 12 guests. For larger parties, please call. Reservations are not required for seats at our bar.
Amazing service. Fantastic food. Great ambience. A little pricey.
The food was impeccable, beautifully plated and deicious, nothing disappointed . We ordered a variety of seafood items both hot and cold and everything was made with great detail and a good blend of flavors it was creative well portioned. The only miss was the wait from appetizer to main was about an hour, our server was very empathetic and apologetic even before we voiced our displeasure. She tried to bring us a few tasting dishes while we waited to make up for the wait. It turns out our order was behind a very large party group next door and took forever to come out. Good food for the masses is extremely difficult to pull off, Blue Water certainly did not make the mark either. Other than this minor concern I'd recommend them and rathe them very highly.
Went to celebrate my father's birthday with the family. The dinner was enjoyable; every dish we ordered was exceptional, except for the steak, which was mediocre. The ling cod I had was really delicious.
Went old school with a prawn cocktail for an appy. 6 nice plump prawns and a traditional cocktail sauce. Nothing new here but really good! I had sturgeon which was excellent, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. My wife had the halibut feature. Excellent as well. Dessert was dulce de leche bread pudding. Very pretty and so tasty! Service was attentive but not intrusive, just right. Noise level is ok for conversation. All round, a great meal!
Everything was perfect except it took a while until someone offered more bread and spread. The food was superb. The waiter was nice. One of the best restaurants in the city.
Thank you so much. Service was lovely! Food was underwhelming (char, eg).
Really appreciated the extra efforts to make this 50th Wedding Anniversary a success. Overall, it was lovely.
Have enjoyed this amazing restaurant more than a few times,..but tonight, in particular, put this restaurant at a world class level (if it wasn’t already), but Riva and the rest of the Blue Water staff delivered a customer experience beyond expectations. To quote a famous Canadian Food network tv show, “You Gotta Eat Here”
The Blue Water Cafe does not disappoint -it is a always a pleasure to go there.
Amazing Culinary Experience! Service was knowledgeable, helpful and professional, food was delicious but needs a couple of observations, main courses could be served a little more hot on temperature specially the Carrots Soup, delicious but room temperature, it’s will wonderful to be hotter, Halibut special was delicious but served temperature was an issue too! Dessert was to die for!
Thanks again for a wonderful dinner!
Everything as always. Great food, attention to detail and great wine list
Love that . Ir a amazing place. Great ando cool . The food delicius
Always a great experience at Bluewater! Will definitely be back
From our incredibly diligent server to every component of our meal, we had an absolutely delightful dining experience at Blue Water Cafe. It was special to know that it is a responsibly sourced restaurant, but the menu options and flavor combinations were on point. Compared to the price point in most major cities, I found this to be fairly reasonable for the experience they can provide. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Vancouver area.
Our server Tara was wonderful- she guided us through the menu and made wonderful recommendations. We selected them and were blown away. The uni nigiri and oysters were standouts. A fabulous meal - simply decadent fresh seafood, sushi, oysters, great B.C. wine. We would rank it amoung our top 10 restaurant experiences
Excellent food, well thought and worth every penny. Great beef and fish with innovative sides.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a local and the concierge at our hotel recommended it as well. Super bartenders at the bar. Great craft cocktails . Outstanding soup. I highly recommend the sablefish. Dragon roll was good; not great. Fun atmosphere.
Always amazing. The food is delicious, the service is sublime!
Nice upscale restaurant featuring all kinds of fresh fish. The tuna carpaccio was outstanding, with a wonderful mix of flavos. The mixed greens salad also was excellent, lovely and fresh—and big. The scallops were a great main course, as was the special, pan-seared halibut, which was perfectly cooked. The pommes frites were a nice side dish. The chocolate mousse dessert was light and a great way to finish the meal. Servicve was very, very good—our waitress was very attentive and helpful, but not obtrusive. We definitely will return on our next visit to Vancouver.
Service and waitress's knowledge was outstanding. Food was exceptional and over all the best reastraunt we ate at on our three day trip.
our server was great! she made our special occasion extra special
Nothing less of spectacular as always. Will definitely return every year.
Great food, great service, great restaurant. Never disappointing. Jennifer was fantastic - we asked her to decide on all our food and she did a fantastic job - thank you!
Amazing food and even more amazing service! On Sun the 21st Kimberly was our “guide” thru an incredibly delicious cuisine tour - oysters, sushi, halibut and sablefish that melts in your mouth. Her insight, suggestions and overall friendliness made our experience unforgetable. And the wine was perfect! Wonderful food is always great but it becomes incredible when paired with amazing staff!
Looking forward to our next visit!
This place is fantastic! The lobster bisque presentation is phenomenal. Sablefish was delicious & flaked apart at the touch of a fork.
Our new favorite restaurant in Vancouver, everything was outstanding! Exceptional oysters, entrees and wine recommendations. Our server was perfect for our group birthday celebration, thank you for a very memorable evening.
Fabulous food and attentive service. Condescending, upselling waiter was unpleasant but not enough to overcome how really on point this restaurant is overall.
Thank you to the team of people for creating a great dining experience. A Special Thank you to our host Tara. She is amazing! She knows the cuisine like the back of her hand. She made my wife and I feel like we were the only patrons in the room. Her suggestions were perfectly matched. Tara you ROCK!
One of the best meals I have ever had!!!
A very inventive menu coupled with an impressive wine list—but the service is what you remember most, in this whimsical, highly energetic and engaging restaurant. Almost any person you encounter in Vancouver will tell you that this is one restaurant there you cannot miss, and they are right. It is, simply, great fun and great food. (Below, the notable salmon terrine)
Our waitress was amazing. So friendly and helpful. The cocktails were outstanding. Couldn't get over the awesome oyster list.
Visiting Vancouver for the weekend and our first night out together without our baby was cause for celebration.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Blue Water Cafe.
The ambiance was excellent. We had a table right by the kitchen and it was nice to be able to watch the action.
The wine list has a nice selection of both vintaged wines and a broad BC collection.
The service was friendly but not overbearing which allowed for us to catch up and spend a nice uninterrupted evening together.
My food allergy was easily accommodated with delicious substitutes and I felt confident in the food that was served to me.
We had a wonderful time and look forward to dining there again on our next trip to Vancouver.
My husband and I went there for our Anniversary. We had a wonderful dinner. We ordered the seafood tower. It was amazing. It was four types of seafood. Each one prepared differently. I had the char and my husband had the sablefish. Each was very well prepared and delicious. We shared a dessert of pistachio brulee, which was divine. It is expensive but so worth it. Can't wait to go back. They have a sushi bar there too.
Beautiful seafood and sushi and extensive wine list. Everything was excellent quality and cooked to perfection.
I tried it for the first time I enjoyed the whole evening- the hostess was knowledgeable, waiters great & good food
Honestly by far one of our best experiences we've encountered for dinner. From start to finish, it was incredible. From the service, to the drinks, appetizers and our meals. Fabulous!!
We would definitely visit Blue Water again!
The best seafood I have ever had. The special halibut and the black cod were perfect. The mushroom cipolini onion side was a perfect complement to the fish. The combo app was a steal of a deal.
The attitutde and respect that the staff show each other is reflected in the way they treated the guests, always smiling supportive and with good humor.
A lovely gem of a restaurant. Great gathering place for a large party or an intimate dinner. They have an extensive wine list and knowledgeable sommelier to help you pair your wine with your dinner. They try to a knowledge a special occasion. Their seafood is exquisitely fresh, and elegantly served.
We ordered Seafood tasting for 2, shellfish plateau, Aburi Sablefish Batterra roll, Stamina roll and Sockeye Salmon roll, and Vanilla Yoghurt Cheesecake. The shellfish plateau came out first, the oysters were good, the rest were ok, the jellyfish was the weakest link. The seafood tasting for 2 was pretty good. The salmon terrine was not as salty as some other reviews mentioned. The Aburi Sablefish was lukewarm at best, would be better if served as soon as it is done. Nothing special for the Stamina and Sockeye Salmon roll. Dessert was the highlight of the evening. Cheesecake was fluffy and light. Very good.
So pleased on every level and it didn't hurt that Tara (?sp) was our server. She was amazing as was the food and beverages. Will definitely recommend this place to others.
