Bazile is a friendly, comfortable place to dine with friends on light and delicious fare. We love it!!
This place used to be Blue Stove. I was disappointed when they changed it - but GREATNEWS! It's is STILL EVERY BIT AS TASTY! The food here is exquisite and is prepared so beautifully. The brussel sprouts, calamari, caprese salad and creme brûlée are OFF THE CHARTS DELICIOUS! The other thing that I love about this place is how beautiful the ambiance is. It is SO much quieter than most places! It's a gem that you Wouldn't realize because it is INSIDE A DEPARTMENT STORE!
Great food, crab bisque is amazing!
We dine at Bazille (Nordstrom) in Thousand Oaks often and the above rating is based on the most recent visit to the restaurant (3/26/18).
As I mentioned, we dine here often, because everything is always very good here. But this time, nothing was right:
- The salmon tasted frozen. We told the waitress and we watched her tell the manager, but she came back and just said it is not frozen!
-The short ribs were too dry and full of fat/skin.
-The bread was cold (not even room temperature) and hard to bite into. Also, I liked the old way they used to bring the olive oil (with a few olives in there), not with the olive+tomato paste that seeps in to the oil! But, I understand...this one is a matter of preference.
We usually get dessert too, but since nothing was going right that night, we decided not to get any dessert and be even more disappointed.
Hopefully, this was just an odd night!
Hoping to keep this place a secret. Everything is great.
We love the food at Bazille, everything always tastes delicious and is seasoned to perfection!
The chefs take great pride in their food quality and presentation and it shows. The staff is welcoming and friendly. We recommend this little gem of a restaurant to friends and family.
Food isn’t what it was with smaller portions, less flavor and variety and higher prices . Doesn’t add up with other available choices.
Our waiter was super attentive and knowledgeable.
A local favorite that never disappoints. We had the price fixe Valentines wine pairing. All wines were nicely paired with each of the four courses. Nicole, the bartender and wine afficianado, is a pleasure to speak with.
After being sat by the only service station, it was very apparent it was going to be extremely noisy. When I inquired about another table, I was told there was nothing available though half of the seating area was open. Decided to dine somewhere else. I do appreciate the server who was very gracious but cannot say the same for the hostesses.
Wine and food pairing was on point! The service is very friendly and I felt it was very reasonable for 4 courses and 4 wine pairings! Very impressed!
Met my friend for lunch and the food and service was great! I have been there many times while shopping in the mall.
So much prefer small plates menu. Entrees too expensive for lunch. Previous window treatments were better.
The tacos were surprisingly excellent!
The kale salad and salmon were above average, but nothing great.
They have the best butter and olive oil I have ever tasted in a restaurant!
The service was good and friendly, but a just bit slow.
What a treasure this place is. Hidden in Nordstrom it is truly a hidden spot. Food is incredible, service personable and prompt, and worth every dollar. Has become one of our favorite dining spots. Already looking forward d to next dinner.
Always enjoy this place!
Excellent service, food and ambiance.
I tried the chicken salad with mandarin oranges and it was delicious. From the first bite, to the very last bite, it was AMAZING!
Great neighborhood restaurant. Good food, service and atmosphere.
Comfortable restaurant with a full, but limited, bar. Cocktails are reasonably priced. While the wine is modestly priced, it is somewhat disappointing. The soups are very tasty. The French Dip Sandwich is excellent and served with properly prepared herbed fries. There are several items that are great for sharing. Apple Crisp dessert is perfect. While I miss the Blue Stove menu, the new menu seems to work best for the majority of diners looking for a casual dinner experience. Staff here is very good, Chef turns out great food and presentation.
What a hidden gem this place is. We have lived in Thousand Oaks for years and never knew this place was here. Now that we do... we will be back. Great food, service and atmosphere.
The food is good, but I prefer the former menu. Wine selection is very good.
We preferred old menu of Blue Stove. Blue Stove had more vegetarian options for my husband. Prices much higher due to larger portions. Prefer the small share plates.
Good food, but limited menu choices. Nice staff. Good wine choices.
Quite noisy when busy. Had a reservation, but table was a tiny one for 2 in not the best location.
The restaurant is the same as the Blue Plate but a new menu. The new menu offered entrees which is different than the Blue Plate. Restaurant is way too bright, lights need to be turned down slightly to give it more atmosphere. Food was o.k. - small portion size for the price. Deviled eggs were on the salty side.
One of the best olive oils (comes with the bread) I've had, but our waiter was so stingy with the bread and oil!!! He'd bring just a little each time we asked!
The Korean short ribs are really good; although, it could be a little leaner. The skirt steak is above average. Stay away from the French Dip as it is fatty, tasteless, and too simple. Almost everything else is above average, and I have tried about 80% of the menu so far.
This restaurant takes the place of the Blue Stove, keeping a number of items from the earlier menu and then adding fuller (larger) plates. We like the smaller plate theme, and mostly stuck with it for our party of 6. Yummy food as before, very similar feel to what has to be one of the most interesting department store restaurant concepts I have seen. A nice vibe, and a place where we will return.
The braised beef was very good. The salmon was just ok, but the couscous that came with it was awesome! Our waiter was just there doing his job...not very friendly or someone who'd go out of his way to make sure everything is great.
I like the old menu better. They used to have small portions that were less expensive. We'd get several items and share. Now that portions are larger, we just one item per person. I'd like to try more things when I dine out!
The old Blue Stove restaurant in Nordstrom's turned into Bazille. The improvement is that it serves normal restaurant food now instead of just tapas. However, there were a couple of drawbacks: the lighting in the restaurant was inappropriate - too bright, and all of our entrees were too salty - beef dish, chicken dish, and fish were all too salty.
Located inside the Nordstrom store in the Oaks mall, this restaurant offers drinks and a full menu. It displaced the Blue Stove tapas restaurant. Drinks are good. Food is acceptable, but nothing extraordinary. If you are at the mall and looking for something better than the food court, this is a good choice.
We have enjoyed this venue since it was Blue Stove. It's one of my 8-year old granddaughter's favorite restaurants, especially for their delicious mac and cheese. I like the atmosphere, although I thought the lights were turned up too high this time. Also, it's often very cold in there, which is very uncomfortable. I like the expanded menu, which retains most of the old favorites. I like that you can easily order hors d'oeuvres OR entree style, and that you can order to share. The quality of the food is usually very good.
Once again excellent food and desert!! Great service too!!
I was sorry that Bazille didn’t meet our expectations. We loved Blu Stove because of the quality of food and the unique tasty recipes. Bazille still offers some of the shared portion dishes such as lime chicken tacos and Calamari, however most of the menu was individual servings. The salad I ordered was quite ordinary with too much dressing and cold chicken. It may have been acceptable at a lower rated restaurant, but just not what I expected from here. It may be because the restaurant recently opened under a new name, and the staff may have been new. We will try again in another month.
I was surprised that the "new" restaurant wasn't really a change at all. With the name the same, I was looking forward to the same experience I get at the Topanga location. Some of the salads are the same, but the "small plates" are disappointing to say the least. The dishes are all overpriced in my opinion. I recommended it only because there isn't a lot of choices to eat in the mall. They can do better for sure.
They have changed the menu! They used to serve small portions, less expensive items and I used to get a few different things. The new menu is almost the same but portions are larger and more expensive. The waitress recommended the French dip, but I did not like it at all. The scallops were good, though!
Chris was awesome. Very attentive and informative
First time eating here since it changed from Blue Stove to Bazille. Happy the chicken lime tacos still available. Now they are classed as an appetizer and there are two instead of 4 tacos, and the price is less. Same great recipe, though. I liked the small plate concept better than the more traditional entree approach Bazille has, but it is still an enjoyable restaurant if you are in the area.
First of all to be fair, I really loved the former restaurant at this Nordstrom's (Blue Stove) . It was sort of a feel of a New York vibe, striking with is exaggerated dark shutters, dim lighting and a great shared plate menu. So when I arrived to a bright, stark spot with TV's over the bar, it was a little off putting. But, I was happy to experience the new concept. Greeted and was sat immediately. But later learned that they didn't confirm my OpenTable reservation, but O. T. Did message me and corrected the oversight.
Service was friendly, though never got our pace of dining. Little rushed. Food was eye pleasing, seasoned, but just felt not a good value. The Deviled Maple Eggs were the best tasting of what was ordered. Calamari nicely fried and battered, but cool. Good sweet/spicy sauce. The Lobster Mac & Cheese nice, but nothing special. I'd have paid more for better quality and more lobster. Cheese sauce too loose. Highlight was the Crafted Cocktails, very good job on taste and balance. Very good value. Did mention it was a Birthday on O.T. and at table, but no follow thru.
So a nice enough experience, but can't say I'll be running back, but will come back in the future for cocktails and a nosh? !
Amazing food a service since changing from Blue Stove to Bazille the atmosphere was awesome we will return again, our server Susana was amazing as usual, prices were in not too high for what you get!
I didn't like this place as much as when it was Blue Stove. I felt the prices went up and the service went down. This will no longer be my "to go" place in the Oaks. I did enjoy the tacos and the bruschetta.
This was our first time there since the remodel and renaming. We thought the prior menu was more fun, with many more small plates to share. Our brussels sprouts appetizer was very good. Our grilled scallops with green beans and our gnocchi we're both fairly tasty, but the portions were quite small especially for the price. The bread was very good, but we were only given two small rolls. The olive oil dipping sauce was barely big enough for the two pieces of bread. Basically, while the food was better than average, the portions, except for the brussel sprouts small plate, were rather meager. The two cocktails we had were delicious, but the wine selection was not as good as it had been. Plus, some of the more average bottles were fairly pricey by the glass. It still feels like you're eating in a mall restaurant.
