Blue Spruce Inn - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Totally unacceptable experience! We went by your rating system and were VERY disappointed! Despite reservations we waited until a carry out customer told us someone would be with us soon . We both had prime rib - which was all gristle and fat- at the conclusion of our meal, within several minutes , they turned the lights off in the restaurant. For a $100+ meal, I would have to say this was the worst experience I have ever had. I will be reluctant to trust your rating service in the future!
A friend recommended we try the Blue Spruce when we visited Breckenridge and we are glad we went. We didn't give 5/5 because we don't feel it was perfect but we would definitely go again. Portions were generous and the staff was friendly. The bartender made a great Dirty Martini.
I have been to Blue Spruce many times over the years and have always really enjoyed it. This was our 48th wedding anniversary. When we arrived at the front desk no one was at it. During our 20 minute wait for someone to show up we were told twice that someone would help us. As I said 20 minutes later we were finally seated. My steak was good but the baked potatoe was Luke warm. My wife said her trout was very good. Appears that this place must have changed owners and I don't think I will go back.
Sirloin steak was requested to be medium rare was medium well and grisly We split the bill with a our table partners. You charged me for the complete bill plus my half. I called yesterday to complain was told I would be called back. Hadn't happened yet. Needless to say I will contest the bill with the credit card company. John Crilly. 7707137026
We were in Frisco for our 40th wedding anniversary from Texas! We ate at the Blue Spruce Inn on our 1 week (during our honeymoon), 20th anniversary, and now for our 40th! Awesome first two visits! We were quite disappointed this trip. Service was great! Our server, Calvin, was wonderful! My husband's prime rib was good, but not great. My medium filet was a little dry and overcooked. My lobster tail was mushy and turned my stomach with the bite! They took $10 off my dinner. We also got our dessert (creme brûlée...good) complimentary because of our anniversary. Probably won't return...so sad!
For many years we have dined at the Blue Spruce on many special occasions including my birthday on July 31. We have introduced many friends to this wonderful restaurant that offers great food and great ambiance, no background music or loud people. It is quiet and no matter what you order it is always excellent.
We were a little concerned at first because there were some horrible reviews online at Google Maps; our fears were definitely unnecessary as the service was excellent and the food was equally awesome. We will definitely return there and recommend it to our friends and family.
Nice ambiance, delicious food, attentive service from our waiter. We were seated in a private nook upstairs, which was very quiet and allowed for good conversation. The prices are on the high side, so it's a good place for a special occasion. We had friends in from out of town and they appreciate a good wine list. Unfortunately, the wine glasses were not appropriate for a fine wine and our friends were quite disappointed in that. Other than that, I would recommend this restaurant - we had a good experience here.
Disappointment. From the lackluster greeting, to the wine list with no years, a waiter who did not know how to serve wine and did not even seem willing to.
We selected the best bottle of wine they had, I gently asked to see the label before he opened it, he got an attitude and told me "I already checked it". This waiter opened the bottle and set it on the table and walked away. I've never seen a bottle of Opus one treated so badly.
We sent some improperly cooked food back, but overall the food was decent.
If you're in Frisco, skip this one.
Price- $80 - $100 per couple, to include splitting one app., two entries ($25- $35) and drinks
Food- Steak, local Colorado Fare, one vegetarian dish. Good quality meats, nicely seasoned and cooked. Nice presentation
Ambiance- Old log cabin, low ceilings, perhaps seating for fifty, homey and a bit charming
Service- reasonable professional
Our Experience- We enjoyed our meal and felt good we partronized the restaurant. They needed our business. Overall value was good, old time ambiance felt good. Would eat here again. Word on the block is, this could be their last year in business. A little sad because the Blue Spruce Inn has been a landmark here before anything else was here. Give it a try.
Very slow service. Waited 15 minutes to be seated without being acknowledged, then another 20 minutes at the table before waitress came to greet us. Excuses about interstate being closed and therefore, but 1/2 tables were empty. No apology until I made a fuss. Then they gave us one desert for free for table of 4.
Honesty and a quick hi, we will be with you ASAP would have gone a long way to making me less irritable.
Food was as good as ever. Visited several times before.
Last night of ski trip and came for a fabulous steak and crime brûlée! Made a reservation for 9pm and got a call while on the way that the kitchen Closes at 9! They kept it open until we arrived promptly at 9 but had no homemade warm bread to serve and rushed us through l. There was only a large family there in the dining room and they were so loud, drunk, and obnoxious that I wanted to leave. Their child played their iPad full volume (movie) the whole time while the adults told crude jokes and trashed the dining room. Finally one of the servers asked them to calm down. By that time our "last night of vacation" dinner was ruined. Filet was fabulous, creams brûlée was not what I remembered from years ago.
We have been to the Blue Spruce Inn many times and have been pretty satisfied. This particular trip was nothing extraordinary. The menu could use an update. The steak "special" of Filet Mignon, blue cheese and au jus was not bad but the portions were not what they stated and quite small (stated 2 - 6 ounce steaks but it was more like 3-4 ounce steaks). The biggest let down was that there was no Prime Rib - which is one of their signature dishes/options.
Will try them once more but will wait for some changes.
