Blue Ridge Ratings and Reviews
My girlfriend and I are staying at the GPI for a girls weekend to celebrate our birthdays. This has become an annual tradition for our birthdays. Stan greeted us with a smile and was an outstanding server. He even made us feel extra special by giving us a special birthday treat at the end of our meal. Great service! Detectible cuisine ! Breathtaking views. We will be back.
We went to Blue Ridge for New Years brunch. Food choices were abundant and well placed. Taste and quality of food were great. Ambiance was also very nice. However, beware a 20% service charge is tagged on to your bill. If you get a server like mine, Samantha, she was terrible. I had to ask for silverware, when I asked for butter she told me I could get it in the back with the breads, I had to ask her to refill my glass with water. I was never offered if I wanted a mimosa. Every time I looked she was talking to one of her co-workers. Bad, bad! The manager was very complacent and acknowledged my complaint He did remove the 20% charge. However, I would have been happier with better service. BTW, The girls at the front reception were very nice.
Went for New Year's Eve celebration it was pretty good. There was a large selection of food on the buffet. The prime rib was great and some of the other sides we're really good. Some of the breads and cupcakes we're very hard from sitting out on the buffet. Our service wasn't great but they were busy. We did have to wait after seating to get our drinks, weren't asked about refills and had to wait to get our next drinks when our waiter did come around. I would go back to explore the hotel and I would be willing to eat there again, I feel like there might be better service and food on a less busy day.
My husband and I were a bit underwhelmed on this visit. After our only other visit two years ago, it was so good that we couldn't wait to come back. However, this time it was just OK. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing was especially great, considering you pay $40 per person for brunch and $20 just to park. Two years ago? Wow. Two days ago? Meh. We won't be back. Far too many better food choices in Asheville to waste $120 for brunch.
Food was food—not great, but service was—-particularly the wait staff.
I was really upset to be told by two different employees that the first 3 hours of parking was at no charge. However when I left I discovered it was not covered since it was “before January 2nd.”
Having spent in excess of $100 for a brunch for 2 people, and then discovering that parking was an additional $20 parking fee after NOT being advised when I made the reservation online of the charge. Additionally, I was more disappointed especially when I specifically asked the hostess about validating my parking and was told that it was not necessary it was “taken care of.”
I have visited the Grove Park Inn & eaten in several restaurants on the property over the years, but after this experience, I will not return especially since the concierge nor the customer relations were not helpful nor appeared to be sympathetic to my situation.
We've been a few times. we did a saturday night prime rib night. I don't eat prime rib but my husband and dad were both unimpressed for various reasons. The food that ate was pretty good and the desserts area always the show stopper. I do think it wasn't as good as it has been during previous visits. It was very busy as it was Saturday, December 30th.
We enjoyed our family dinner at this restaurant. Many food options to choose from, and the buffet is presented very well. They were very busy on this night, but we were seated promptly at our reservation time. The service was excellent - plates cleared and drinks refilled as needed.
A holiday dinner for 5 good friends. The food was amazing with many selections for all tastes. The flow of the buffet was remarkable, no wait times, and everything was freshly prepared and presented. We will definitely return for this great food and experience.
We try to go to the Blue Ridge Artisinal Buffet at least once a year. The food does not disappoint. There are lots of selections to choose from. We had a nice table in the corner which was nice because we were away from a couple of large parties. Our waiter, Robert, was very attentive.
The Blue Ridge Resturant seafood buffet was suggested to us by friends who had visited the area. Wow! So glad they did. A spectacular seafood buffet with delicious food!
Great attention to detail from the Chef on down to the serving staff and hostess station.
The Resturant is beautiful and the food is not at all bland- which is what is often the case at a seafood buffet in this price point.
The only suggestion I would give is to bite the bullet and valet park. Self parking is not free and you are going to get lost (like we did ) finding the Resturant in the huge Omni hotel. :)
We try to go every year around Christmas and this year we went after Christmas and was not very impressed. The selection was weak and normally we go on a weekend but during the week the selection was not as much and ours kids were looking forward to the dessert bar and they were disappointed.
My family comes here every year during the holidays and always looks forward to dining here. The buffet has a large variety of items with a carving station. This year is was ham, which was disappointing. I think everyone expects beef during the holidays and ham was a letdown. There was turkey in a chafing dish, and several seafood options, but nothing beef. Desserts are numerous and attractive, but tend to taste a little bland, with nothing really standing out as special. The view and service are outstanding however.
The buffet was not as plentiful as in years' past...there were much fewer options from which to choose. The restaurant staff was excellent and very professional. The parking was horrendous; we were sent away from valet (even though we had reservations) and sent to the full parking garage, so we had to leave the property to park and walk. Luckily, we arrived early and adapted, but an app that let's one see just how crazy the parking situation is would alleviate some of the stress.
