Not too happy with my second time at Blue Ridge. First, they really need to spice up their menu a bit and give people more variety. Second, if they don't have a particular wine, they need to have a good back-up for it. Third, they should also work on their dessert offerings. Probably won't go back.

A very nice neighborhood restaurant with an outstanding beer selection and excellent service from a friendly/knowledgeable staff. Everything was great except the food! The deviled eggs w/ country ham were very heavy on the whole grain mustard - the only thing you tasted! The rustic pork pot roast with sun-dried tomatoes and brown butter dumplings ($17) was very heavy and sweet and then totally covered in grated Parmesan? It was confusing and awful! I was offered a replacement dish - declined - did not eat the entree but was charged for it anyway. My companion had the Wild King Salmon fillet and really enjoyed it. I understand the restaurant is about to be renovated with a new concept/menu. I will wait until then for my next visit!

Restaurant was empty when we were there, although it was Restaurant Week--but it is August, when many go on vacation. The service was great, but probably no challenge since the place was empty. The bar was more active and looked like a place we would return to hang out. The patio was very nice, but it was too hot for us to consider it. The food we had was very good, but the options for a vegetarian were nil. That is surprising in DC--the only options were in the appetizers and a salad. The dinner salad had chicken, which could be removed, but it would have been nice to have other offerings, particularly during Restaurant Week when the only way it would be a bargain would necessitate having a main course. The desert was excellent.

I really like this restaurant. The prices are very reasonable and the food is good and the ambiance is fantastic. I love both the inside and the back patio. Also, great service. In particular, the cocktails and beer were great, and very reasonably priced. And I recommend the cheese fondue appetizer. This is one of my favorite places in DC.

What a nice reccommendation from friends. We don't often cross the river to dine anymore due to DC's crazy parking restrictions/meter situation now, but Blue Ridge came with a strong recommendation. So, we adventured to Wisconsin Avenue. The food was remarkably good, laid back atmosphere, didn't feel rushed and got to enjoy outdoor dining on a beautiful evening. The beer options were more uncommon microbrews were paired well for the dining menue. Enjoy outdoor dining, refreshing beer and very good food.

This was my second time going to Blue Ridge and I can't say enough good things about it. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I had ordered the steak as an entre and after the order was put in the manager came over and apologized but the steak they had was not up to their standards and offered me another entre which they would comp. Well, they were so nice about it and it was gratifying to know that they are so particular about what they serve at their restaurant. My second choice was great and I can't wait to go back and try the steak. I didn't need them to comp my dinner but what a nice thing to do.

Although we made a reservation at Blue Ridge and were on time, we were told that they didn't have a table for us outside because people who came early were still there and some of those tables were occupied for more than two hours. This was a Friday night with an 8:30 reservation. We were given the option to sit inside or wait for at least 30 minutes for a table outside! We chose to sit inside as it was already slightly late for dinner. This is very bad management! Food was not wonderful, but the ambience and service were.

This restaurant seemed to be having some organization problems. The menu hadn't been updated for the season, and they were out of several of the main courses at 8:30 pm on a Saturday. Additionally there were some basic service things that should have been done at a restaurant of this caliber that weren't: oysters came without an oyster fork, steaks came without steak knives, and the waitress did not poor the wine for everyone at the table. The food was so-so, except for the steak which was very good.

We used to frequently go to Blue Ridge for group brunch on Saturdays. It used to be amazing. Cool bar, nice indoor seating, and a great outdoor patio. Great food. Good service. Sadly this is no longer the case. I suspect ownership or management has changed recently. 1) They converted the outdoor patio to a deck - got rid of the fountain/courtyard area - now its boring but still outside... 2) The menu is much shorter now and they got rid of some of the great options such as Duck Confit (or was it lamb?), Biscuits and Gravy, etc. Do NOT order the Chicken and Waffles. 3) The service was very bad (except for at the bar) - we were the only people outside by the time we got our food. They made at least three mistakes on our orders.

This was the seciond visit to Blue Ridge and I was looking forward to returning to the restaurant and sitting in the outdoor area in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately the second visit was a real dissappointment and probably our last to this restaurant. They had no cheese for their cheeseburger even though they serve a cheese course with up to 5 cheeses, and could not figur out how to go accross the stree to the Whole Foods and get cheese. I wanted to substitute a vegtable for the fries that came with my steak and was told that I could order any side on the menu so I orders asparagas only to be told that they ran out of asparagas. Wanted the Warm Apple Crips for desert, suprise they were out of that too. Good by Bleu Ridge!!!!

Food was good, although menu limited, but that is due to the focus on local foods, so not surprising. My main complaint is that the restaurant does not serve bread w/ dinner, only a small bag of popcorn. Weird. Popcorn is ok, but bread would be much better.

Saturday night at 6 PM and they were out of asparagus, the main ingredient in many of the dishes on the menu...no alternative items offered...just cut the menu back. Same thing happened with our first choice of beverage...on the menu...not available....twice. This started out as a great local find, but either the owners are distracted by their other operations or something else is causing this to fail to live up to expectations.

I never write reviews for restaurants, but I feel like Blue Ridge totally deserves it. I live in Glover Park, and have been to this restaurant at least 20 times. I have never been disappointed with the service or anything on the menu. The food is always fresh and seasonal, the ambiance is warm and artistic. The portions are perfect, and the dishes are so well balanced and creative. Service is impeccable. A true gem!

We had a group of 7 people, all of whom really enjoyed their meals. My sablefish was amazing, the burgers were thick, juicy and a big hit as well. Great fries, tasty mussels, and the chocolate bread pudding with chocolate ice cream was fabulous. And WHAT do they do to that popcorn to make it so delicious? They just could have given us a more generous portion for 7 people. The outdoor courtyard is a great place to enjoy the warm weather without inhaling a bunch of car exhaust. Overall a really good time, we'll be back.

This was my first trip to Blue Ridge and I was pleasantly surprised! The beer selection was quite good. I dined with two others and we all got salads and entrees. I took a chance on the pork meatloaf and was glad I did--great all around flavor and not too heavy. My companions ate chicken and dumplings, and fried chicken and waffles. Both were pretty good. Not the best food in DC, but probably nearly the best in Glover Park. The outdoor terrace was what made the experience the best--had we been inside it would not have been as enjoyable. I will go back though. For the price and location I was not disappointed.

After we got over how long it took our waitress to take our order, we enjoyed the meal. The fried chicken with waffles is great, but if you don't like the strong taste of chicken livers (which I don't) tell them to hold off on the chicken liver mousse that they spread the plate with. The sweet potato fritters are really yummy and the Gin Rickey is a good summer drink!

If you're hoping to converse over a meal, you may be disappointed in Blue Ridge. My husband and I don't get much time away from the kids, so when we go out, we like to talk. It's impossible to have a private conversation when you are scrunched into a wall of tables with just a foot or two in between and the noise level requires you to practically shout in order to be heard. I asked the maitre d' whether a quieter spot might be available or whether we might have one of the empty tables for four, but he said no, that all of the tables were reserved. Yet no one occupied the nice big private table right in front of us while we there. That said, we ate well. Inspired menu, high quality, interesting options. Entrees need more color.

Walking in, it seemed the restaurant was channeling a Pennsylvania Dutch theme, with its star patterns, quilts, wooden tables and floors, and plain cast iron chandeliers. The intent was obvious, but perhaps due to the size or the setup of the space, it looked empty, cavernous, and lacking in any real design. That, however, was the only downside. The beer selection, though small, was actually right on par with the flavors on the menu, and unique, barring any run-of-the-mill drafts. The charcuterie and cheese selection, which we ordered in pairings, was phenomenal, and out of this world. The three of us ordered mussels, fried catfish, and pork meatloaf, all which was INCREDIBLE. Friendly, prompt service, and a great experience overall.

I have been here twice so far and have been really impressed both times. The food is excellent and a good value. Part of me wants to keep quiet about this gem so I can have it all to myself, but I know that the more I sing its praises, the more likely it will survive and thrive. Give Blue Ridge a try - its like a neighborhood version of "Vidalia" - terrific Modern Southern cuisine, in a homey and unpretentious setting.
