Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya on the Lower East Side is an ideal destination for impressing a big group of sushi, meat, or veggie-loving friends.
Took my fiancé on a date here. I went with the Omakase and she got cherry salmon, firefly squid, and tuna belly. Omakase was great, excellent presentation, tons of umami and an awesome variety of sushi and shell fish. Can’t wait for return visit. Counter top omakase is the way to go!
Yoshi was a great server!!
Was not happy with the quality of the food. Very bland. And given the price point not what was expected.
My family and I always love coming here. Food and atmosphere are great.
Great selection of sashimi and sushi, very tasty food, number of cocktails limited but enough to find your pick. Even got some free ice cream for my birthday;) Overall very satisfying experience at a reasonable price for New York
Exceptional sushi, great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Clean to the T and very fresh food. Going there over a year!
Service could have been better. Waiter was not attentive at all.
It was great!
Booked for my wife’s birthday at 7pm, initially was quite, started getting very busy around 8pm, everything was of good quality, from food to ambiance.
They even gave my wife a free dessert, because it was her birthday, which was a nice touch.
Mind blowing, religious experience. The Omakase is the way to go. I’ve done it at other places and Blue Ribbon is the best. Including Nobu.
The main dining room is nice looking but really noisy. Service was not particularly kind and helpful . The quality of the food was very good and the menu too long in my opinion. We were seating at the bar area as we showed up earlier than expected and being one less ( reservation for 4 and we were 3).
I would recommend it for groups of people 4+, not for dates or business meals.
was expecting something above average--really was just about average--
even though we had a reservation they put us in teh bar which was ok but the main room is much nicer
tried many different dishes both warm and cold--"-just about ok" if you are in the neighborhood and dont have to wait its ok
not a destination
One of my all time favorite NYC restaurants. Amazing food and great atmosphere. This was a late lunch so seating was in the bar. Prefer the dining room but happy the restaurant was even open!
The sushi is superb, beautifully prepared and presented. The waitstaff is extremely helpful and educated. Our server explained to us the practice of drinking sake from wooden boxes and was very knowledgeable about recommending different sakes to us. The omakase and the blue ribbon special sushi platter are beautiful expressions of what is exciting to the chef and therefore to us.
The price is what I would expect to pay for excellent sushi, so it's not an everyday place for me. It's something for special occasions.
Never disappointed at this restaurant. Early late night dining for this time at 10.30 pm on Saturday night, it is still crowded at the time. Will definitely be back again...
Outstanding food and outstanding service
Great food good service. Noise level very high
I live out of town and have managed to eat here 4 out of the last 5 times that I've been in the city, and have not once been disappointed (except for the 1 time that I couldn't get a reservation due to a holiday). Four visits later, I still dream about the scallops cooked in miso butter. I've probably tried over 20 different dishes on the menu and would recommend all of them, even the shishito pepper that gave me the hiccups from being a bit too spicy. The family style dining is great for meeting up with friends, and there's booths for more private dining. We celebrated my mom's birthday here last week and the dessert was to die for. The service has always been outstanding, with great recommendations for wine and food. I can't complain and will definitely be back.
Disappointed! Ordered tuna tartare and it was good and fresh. California and tuna roll was like I bought it in CVS pharmacy. It was breaking apart before we could put it in the soy sauce. So we were struggling with these rolls. Soy sauce was very salty. It happens when it’s cheap.
Very nice environment, fun vibe, great food, great music, not too loud
I have been dying to come here specifically to try the vegetable flight and the meal did not disappoint! I did not realize how large the restaurant is given the small entrance, but once I ascended the flight of stairs it was a huge, gorgeous surprise! We loved our unfiltered sake. The sushi is very creative. Don't skip the veggie flight!! Big enough to share.
Amazing! The food is real good. Best sushi in the city.
Great experience! Food was very good
They are always great!
Random and simple ambient. Although traditional and more than worth the visit for the delicious food and service.
Loved sitting by the sushi bar and watching all the action. Everything from the kitchen and the sushi bar was delicious as always. Blue Ribbon never disappoints!
Highly recommend. Excellent sushi. Cool atmosphere.
We were with our best friends and it’s always a great time, made even better by Blue Ribbon!
The service was good! Very fast. Surprised how quickly the sushi came out and how tasty it was! It was very hard to hear even though my date and I were sitting across from each other. But overall it was a good meal and a good ambiance. Would come back!
The food was excellent but it was way too loud! Sitting at the sushi bar was great so we could focus on the work of the sushi chefs instead of the general chaos in the main dining room.
Everything was beyond delicious from drinks to appetizers to our entrees! Ambiance and atmosphere were wonderful! Will definitely be back!
Wonderful staff. Gave us a private room because we had a stroller. Great service.
Flat out love this place ! Pork shunei! Chicken wings. Incredible sushi. Get friend rice!
Very noisy -- impossible to hear anyone in conversation without struggling. Food was just OK -- Maki selection and execution was quite pedestrian. Just OK -- nothing special.
Had their Omakase by the chefs counter. It was a tad above average and good value for money $95 per person. However the Maine uni served was disgusting and off. I endured a night of upset stomach pretty soon after leaving. Generally you can taste when uni is somewhat fresh, but the Maine uni served had a bad chemical taste to it and I know it was due to this because my partner didn’t eat the uni and I did.
Nice and darkish great for dates
Delightful. The food was much better than expected! The sushi was very fresh. Very friendly service. Very nice!
Fantastic sushi! Extensive sake menu. Great service.
Overrated and under delivered.
Will not go back
