We loved the Blue Ribbon Kitchen Bakery! We would not miss their closing brunch for the world. The waiter was awesome and was unbelievably nice to our 4 year old daughter!
A favorite place for lunch. WONDERFUL homemade bread...sandwiches,grilled avocado...staff is very accommodating..small space upstairs, different rooms downstairs for private parties...
We will miss you when you're gone:
- fried chicken
- bone marrow and bacon bread
- burgers
- hummus
- bread pudding two ways
So many great memories!!!
The staff was great and the food was interesting and delicious.
One of my all time faves. We had to go one last time before the location changed. Service, food and ambiance all great.
The food is very good, especially the red trout. The atmosphere is casual, and the service fits that while being very effective. When they were out of the pinot noir I ordered, they recommended another that was excellent. I will visit again after they move to the Financial District.
Glad we got in one last Blue Ribbon meal before they close. End of an Era.
My fourth or fifth time there. We live in Chicago but visit New York frequently and always try to have dinner here. The food is over-the-top amazing. And still best fried chicken in the world.
Staff is unusually gracious and helpful--as good as the food, which isn't the norm in NYC. Sadly, the restaurant will move to Wall St. area at the end of the month, so we will lose our neighborhood gem.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere. Amazing homemade bread came out warm, but at the same time as our entrees. Great for a business lunch.
Fried Chicken (Very Good) - Hummus (OK) - Steak tartare (Very Good)
Great Service - Solid Size meals - Apps were very good - Good Screwdriver - Spicy Bloody Mary - Very Good Food
This was a return visit for our favourite fried chicken but as we had just arrived from London and it was New Years Eve and we were a little tired we opted for the special a whole Dover Sole with brown butter to share with fries. OMG what a choice, soft, succulent fish with lemon to squeeze over and the brown butter was amazing, fries were great too. The bread and butter is awesome as you would expect from the bakery. We will be going back later during our trip for the fried chicken but before the restaurant closes and moves to the financial district. When we come back to NYC we will definitely find the new location.
Amazing! Everything was perfect and the staff, including manager were exceptional.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Food and service off the charts, cosy decor too
Excellent food and service. My steak was cooked perfectly. The Cajun shrimp were large, nice portion.
Always consistently good. All good choices, none bad.
We found the restaurant a solid "ok", maybe a B- to B. The food was ok. The prices too high.
My son's salmon dish was $31. for a small piece of fish and 5 sticks of asparagus. The service was the best of the experience.
Great restaurant and one of our favorites in NY. Sorry to hear that it is closing (moving to the Financial District) in a couple of weeks
Always wonderful!
The staff at Blue Ribbon Bakery made our Christmas Eve into a wonderful memory. We have eaten at Blue Ribbon Bakery many times. The food is always outstanding, the atmosphere cozy and inviting. The service is attentive but not intrusive.
Comically overpriced
Great Birthday dinner. Sad to see this location go. Excellent food drinks and service.
Excellent value with enough variety to be interesting. They offer hIgh quality ingredients with well prepared meals. Although fried chicken is clearly the house speciality, we split the sole for 2 at $45. It was great althugh we should have asked them to fillet it. It came with french fries . We added a salad. It was plenty. The 3 guys next to us shared the banana split and had plenty so be careful on the desserts. Cappuccino was also good. What more do you want.
Very enjoyable brunch. Excellent food, service, ambience. A favorite!
The occasion was a book club christmas dinner. Servers extremely accommodating and warm; they were there when we wanted something, but not rushing or pushy. Meals (appetizer and entrees) all arrived at same time and hot, which is impressive for a table of 9. wine was poured regularly. this is one of my favorite go-to's for a special meal.
Great food but service was awful. Also, sides were cold. We had the Foi Gras terrine...unbelievable. Could have had that twice in one sitting. The fried chicken and the trout was fantastic. But the potatoes were cold as were the greens (both sides under the chicken). The service was just awful. Too bad. If it had good service would have rated it highly.
Great food, amazing service and nice ambience. Sunday brunch with local and out of town friends. Lots of catching up to do, but never felt rushed or ignored. Server was always there when needed, but never felt like hovering. Food and cocktails were great, nothing but clean plates among the 6 of us, I had the steak and eggs - great to find a perfectly cooked medium rare steak AND perfectly cooked poached eggs. Everyone else was equally happy with their choices - everything from the French toast, shrimp hash and shrimp cocktail. Looking forward to our next visit.
I'm still thinking about the bread and fried chicken!! Both amazing. Very friendly and efficient staff. The bartender made a wonderful Old Fashion cocktail with a delicious Rye. My partner had the Catfish which was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The atmosphere is cozy without being crowded and well decorated. My only disappointment was the profiteroles, only because I like them all with vanilla ice cream, not with chocolate and strawberries. Next time I'll ask. The puff pastry was Devine. The restaurant is moving in January but, I will find them to enjoy there food again.
All their food is truly amazing. Just a wonderful place to have a meal.
My favorite brunch ever, anywhere! Literally the best. The smoked salmon poached eggs are to die for. The restaurant is so charming and features a bread oven downstairs originally from the 1800's (restored in the '90s). The scent (and the taste) of the fresh bread is heavenly, the food is heavenly. The staff is awesome, all full of character. It is an absolute shame that they must move locations. Saddens me to the core that this Classic West Village establishment must close, only for a CVS or Starbucks to move in. So much greed is sabotaging the integrity of New York's best neighborhoods.
The food was excellent. What may sound like something you've had before brings flavors you would not have imagined.
Food and staff were equally amazing. We live right around the corner but have never been - will absolutely be back!!
So long dear friend!
We have been fans and patrons of Blue Ribbon Bakery since it opened 20 years ago. Our kids were little then, and this was a special treat for major occasions. That tradition has continued, only now the kids order cocktails! Two visits in the past two weeks have reminded us of many happy moments and many plates of delicious fresh food, farm-to-table long before the idea became trendy. And that wonderful bread, literally straight from the oven. We will visit the other Blue Ribbon locations but truly miss this one. Thank you for many happy hours.
Terrible service and bland food. I literally go out to dinner with my partner every night of the week. Most of our experiences are five and four stars. This was the worst of 2016. Drinks not served simultaneously with severe delay. Appetizers not served simultaneously even after reminding staff. Main courses with our two friends was just as abysmal - Mediocre to poor. Of course we passed on dessert. AVOID.
Very accommodating when called both to add 1 to reservation and when called would be 10 mins late. Another special act- typically they leave the unused bread in a basket you can take when you leave. My husband was looking forward to this, likes the bread. They did not have any left, and gave him some bread they had for future service. Really nice surprise. The market salad was fresh and nicely done, plenty enough for 4 people. Veggie pot pie special went over big, as did their burger. I had the tandoori chicken special. Overall, felt under seasoned, although it was prepared well and the chutneys served with it very good - banana one was amazing. They addressed a drink that someone just did not care for, others well done. Very service oriented, attentive. We would go back when in the area for sure.
Great time. We will really miss this location and the fresh bread with our clams!!! Looking forward to trying the Blue Ribbon Federal Grill in FiDi.
Very cool place. The downstairs is very neat with a full view of the bakery and brick oven.
Great place...I am gonna miss it when it closes next month...one of my go to places for a long time.......very sad.....
Had a reservation, but was seated an hour later. The host was sincerely apologetic, and treated us to a round of drinks, as well as sending two appetizers to our table. Our dinner arrived two hours after our reservation time. We were celebrating a special occasion, and, despite the many many apologies and concessions, it was not a great experience. All that aside, the food was delicious, and our many past experiences have been very positive.
The quality of the food has been solid and delicious for many years ... love to eat here !!
