Alexia, our waitress, was the highlight of our dinner. She was very attentive and helpful.
You should NOT depend on their website for the menu. We were expecting to food from the website menu only to be told that the website menu was outdated. The website menu was one of the reasons we picked this restaurant.
Nice interior, very quiet, we enjoyed our burgers, good wine specials, and the waiter very kindly split the bill for business expensing.
Empty. Fan above my head was making me sick. Smelled like old mop water.
Took Mom for Valentine's Day dinner. Our first time there loved the ambience dark walls with paintings of music legends like Prince, james brown and photos of Sacramento landmarks. We were seated at a booth that was a bit off, seats were pretty low with respect to the table but comfortable nonetheless. James our waiter immediately greeted us. Throughout night he was attentive without being a hovercraft. We heard the portions were big and both wanted the blue cheese steak so we asked to split. We ordered 2 salads that were not on the menu they were simple but fresh and good. The steak was delicious the chef separated it for us in the back which was nice. We had plenty to eat and the steak was a perfect medium rare. Very glad we choose this place for our night out
Prompt service. Friendly and professional staff. Food was cooked to order. No complaints. Will return if in the neighborhood.
A friend and I came to lunch mid-week. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food came quickly. I had the salad with skirt steak. Overall excellent. The steak was cooked to medium rare and very flavorful (although quite tough). My friend had fish and chips which he pronounced excellent.
Good prices and variety. I would come back to try other items on the menu.
I didn't have them as I was having a salad, but the $2 sides sounded fun. Where else can you get strawberries as a side for $2?
Food was fine; middle-of-the-road. Not poor enough to complain about, but not good enough for a return visit.
The restaurant was virtually empty for a Saturday night, although we were there somewhat early, 6:00 pm. We assumed this might also be due to the restaurant location which is a bit out of the way.
What was also troubling was the notice we spotted in our playbill at Community Center that Blue Prynt is a "restaurant partner" which provides a 10% price reduction. Our server knew we had theater tickets, was efficient and professional, but NEVER mentioned this.
The food was good, not exceptional. Service, on the other hand, was very good! Our waiter, who I believe was also the bartender, checked on us often and was very personal. The wine list was limited but I was able to find a nice glass of Cab (Hess I believe it was) to go with my steak. I would go back for drinks or a very casual meal, lunch more likely than dinner. Overall a good experience and I will gie it another try in the future.
Nice server. Fun artwork on the walls.
Place was pretty run down. Food was so-so. I sent my dish back (oso buco) because it wasn't hot. They have me another entire dish (maybe they have to do that) but it was still not hot. I think they just poured hot gravy on top. Good brussel sprouts. My husband liked his steak although it was overcooked. He'd ordered prime rib but was told they were out. (I found it odd that a nearby table which was seated after is was able to order and receive prime rib. ) We won't be back.
Dine out Sacto event, squash soup luke warm, osso buco dry/overcooked, polenta was 1 big clump; thankful that crab cakes delicious n baked alaska a wonderful dessert. Disappointed cause last dine out dinner was high quality n enjoyed it at least 4 stars reason why returned this year
Service was good, but I was very disappointed to find out that I could only get well-done prime rib. Very surprised that at 5pm, the only prime rib available was well-done. Not sure that I would return, as too many other choices for dining in midtown.
Our server made the experience-- he came in and checked in on us often and made great suggestions. The Dine Downtown menu was simple but perfect for what we were looking for-- nothing too crazy, but just right. Food was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the wild rice, but everything else was good.
We went here for a nice New Years Dinner and it was perfect. The service was great and the food was delicious. The price was very reasonable.
The food was delicious and our server was kind and very attentive
Visited the Tans Siberian Orchestra and after the show, trying to find a place to eat in downtown Sac was almost a joke. That is until I looked up this place. The Blue Prynt had a reservation within 15 minutes of me looking, which fared in our favor because we were hungry and also looking to wait out traffic. We walked the few blocks it was from the Golden 1 center to find it almost empty. We got our table immediately and looked at the menu. Now it wasn't a very extensive menu by any means but it worked for what we needed. I had the pesto fettuccine alfredo and it came out just pesto sauce. I know it stated pesto in the title of the dish but I was disappointed to not have a mix of alfredo sauce as well. It was mediocre food but served the purpose. We did not have any alcoholic drinks so we did not get to test out the bar. I do not think they were expecting a big crowd because I believed them to be understaffed with two people working. This showed when I asked for bread to go with my pasta and it took awhile to come. With all that said, for $80 for three of us and an instant seat, I can say that it is worth it.......as a second to last resort. All in All, not too bad in a pinch when every where else is packed.
Not what our party was looking for. Great for a solo dinner or drinks at the bar. Has that "hotel bar" feel.
This is a nice restaurant with good food. However, they may not look at their open table reservations too often. I have reservations for 6, which changed at the last minute to 4.
They still had the table setting for .
The smoked pork chops were amazing!! Good pour on the wine as well.
Gfriend and I were headed to the second night opening of new kings arena. We met and parked ate and walked 6 blocks to venue.
Staff is great and attentive. Food (we both had salads) was great. Happy hour wine was nice!
I have been here before and will continue to come. Great place for prior to theatre.
I am sure it is a fab happy hour place...I just don't have a happy hour bunch (or one) friends!
come...enjoy!
This was my second visit to the restaurant. There were four of us for lunch before the theater. The service was very good. Our waiter friendly and helpful. Lunch was good, not gourmet but an excellent value for the price. We never felt rushed and had time to enjoy our drinks before lunch and make the play in time. We all agreed that we would come back again.
I had the Calamari this time. It was a bit over fried but still very good. I would like to see more tenacles....maybe I will ask for just them next time! I was alone and did not feel uncomfortable. It is really nice to be able to leave my car to go to the Music Circus. I will eat here every night of my next MC season tickets!
Nice restaurant; like the quiet, calm atmosphere; good food.
First impression upon walking in was it has an old, tired feeling - even a touch of staleness in the air. It did not feel fresh and clean. We were sat in a booth which seats were so sunken and low that they were uncomfortable.
First, we ordered two martinis, one beer and one wine -- and four waters. The waters never came. We had to remind the server on our second round of drinks. The martinis were the smallest pour I have seen in Sacramento. It felt like we were in Utah.
We all ordered salads and entrees. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. Even after our second round of drinks our salads had not arrived. This was after we told the server we needed to leave by 7:10 for a show at the Music Circus. And no bread. Such a simple thing to make hungry guests feel better while they drink and wait for food.
Three of our second round of drinks were delivered but not the fourth. I think the server forgot it. About a minute later a woman brought it to the table who was extremely unfriendly. She almost dropped it in front of my friend without saying a word.
Then at almost 7 p.m. all our food arrived at the same time -- salads and entrees. We would have sent back the entrees if we were not in a hurry by then.
My husband had the angle hair pasta, which he declared "just ok. more like a $6 small plate than a $13 entrée." Our friends had the crab cakes and skirt steak. The skirt steak was so tough, she could not eat it.
There was not one vegetarian appetizer or salad (except a dinner salad). I did not want pasta (so tired of that as the veggie option), so I asked for grilled asparagus and the fingerling potatoes. They were probably the highlight of the evening, which is not saying much.
In recap... Atmosphere was tired and stale. Drinks were overpriced. Food ranged from fair to horrible. Service was friendly but overwhelmed to a point of inefficiency. Kitchen was slow. Just an overall bad experience and we won't be back.
I went alone as I had a ticket to see a play at the Music Circus. The restaurant allows you to leave your car so I didn't have to try and find parking, or pay!
I had the chicken salad which was plenty and very tasty. My server, Nick, was very nice and attentive. I was seated at a booth which I appreciated being alone. Nick allowed me to taste the happy hour wine, which I chose not to have and went with a different higher priced Chardonney.
It is a short walk to the MC and the walk back was no problem as there were plenty of people walking on the streets from the theatre.
I would recommend this restaurant!
Long weight for food. My salad was warm Soup was serve after salad came, they did upgrade my soup from a cup to a bowl at no additional charge due to wait.
Ambiance is not bad, decor was interesting. Food was good, service mediocre. Probably will not be back since there are many more restaurants in Sacramento that beat this one.
the menu need a few more options. but the options that were offered were very good. I have been there for happy hour and it was very good and had many more options to offer.
We went to this restaurant when it first opened and were not impressed. Then we tried it again last summer and it was much improved. Food was great and service was very good. I'm glad to say that we had another good experience last Friday night. My husband ordered a pasta dish which was reasonably priced. He loved it and would order again. I ordered the marinated skirt steak with asparagus and potatoes. Other than the steak be very slightly overdone, it was a great meal.
The food and drinks were delicious. We went early'ish (6:30pm on a hot Saturday) and it was not busy at all but we did not mind at all. We heard it was more busy in weekdays which I get. Plus it was a hot Saturday. Everyone is finding a pool, river, or lake.
We had the following
Crabcakes -Yum! These looked fresh made and had a delicious spicy sauce
Halibut - my husband had it and I didn't try it, but he ate it all:)
Salmom - the salmon was cooked just right but the risotto it was on was so rich and creamy and delicious!
I would go back for sure:)
Unfortunately the service was terrible (only two servers, and several large parties), wrong items were delivered to our table, and despite telling the server when we came in that we had an event to attend 1.75 hours later (and were told to relax and enjoy dinner), we barely got to the event on time. I had to get up and ask the server to bring my salad so I could start on it before the entrees came out, and we had to ask twice for water (were served only two glasses for four of us initially) and extra salad dressing. There was loud, hard rock music playing in the background, and one of the toilets was stopped up. Fortunately, the food was pretty good. But all in all, the evening was a terrible disappointment.
Superb clam chowder- creamy rich, not thick with flour. Parmesan- crusted halibut was delicate, and substantial. What a delight to have Baked Alaska, in a huge portion good for sharing!
Decor a little outdated and need of a fresh update but food and service make up for the shortcomings.
As always, the food was great. Our server was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu items. Service was fast and the atmosphere was very conducive to conversation.
Mongolian steak salad very tender with excellent marinade. Salad needs more and varied ingredients, besides lettuce, tomatoes and cheese (mozzarella not an inspired choice). They shld remember the steak knives, not the patron.
Server was nice and restaurant didn't seem clean. Brunch was over priced crab
The food was very good. Service very good with personable wait staff eager to make you happy. The food was quite nice. I had the roasted chicken and my better half the rib eye. Both meals were well cooked and nicely presented. My issue was the ambiance. Sort of had the feel of a high end diner or redecorated pizza/sports bar sort of vibe. Again for food go for it.....if you are looking for a nice romantic dinner, as we were, go somewhere else.
I've been to Blue Prynt a few times for lunch, once for a private party, but all were a long time ago. To be honest, Blue Prynt wasn't our first choice for dinner, but we had theater tickets and we waited too long to make reservations and most of the restaurants we preferred were already booked. We ended up at Blu Prynt and we were a bit wary because we clearly didn't need reservations. The place was pretty empty. Well, the menu was varied and pretty extensive for a nicer restaurant and I had a lot of trouble deciding because of all the great options. I have an uncommon food allergy to a common ingredient which usually greatly limits my options, but the server informed me that they could prepare anything on the menu to accommodate me. We placed our order and had to wait a bit longer than normal--probably because of my special needs--but not so long as to be unreasonable. Wow, totally worth the wait! Now I actually had to send mine back because it wasn't cooked enough (rare chicken... not so good). They prepared a new meal and the chef delivered it personally with his sincere apologies and appropriate reduction in the bill. Again, totally worth the wait, it was absolutely delicious. My wife's halibut was beautifully done as well.
The place did get busier as time went on, which was good. This place should be more popular. The food is great, service great as well, they have PARKING!!!!!, prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is very nice. My only complaint would be that the acoustics could be better; it's pretty noisy for not being all that crowded. Bottom line is that we'll be making Blue Prynt a regular stop.
Our overall experience was great. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
I thought this restaurant was decent, and if I didn't have anywhere else to go I would go again. The service was great but the food was just OK.
