Blue Pointe Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill - Ft. Myers Ratings and Reviews
Food as always was very good. Service however was horrible. Our waiter had an attitude about him and it was obvious that he'd rather be somewhere else. Not at all attentive to the needs of his tables. Mgmt really needs to address this before they lose customers.
Our table was ready when we arrived and we were taken right to it. The hostess was very pleasant. Out waitress arrived promptly and asked if we had been there before and we said no and she went on to tell us alittle about the place. I believe her name was Susan and she did an excellent job. My wife had Alaskan King Crab legs and they were excellent. I had the blackened salmon and it also was excellent. Drinks were very good as well. I plan on returning in the near future.
We found it necessary to complain that both the Parmesan crusted sole and the scallops dishes were severely over cooked. The other entrees ordered were satisfactory but nothing special. This is the second time we have been disappointed and will not be returning.
I went there on Sunday night while visiting Ft Myers and was not disappointed! I had done my research on yelp about 4-5 days earlier. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated. I liked the higher bar height stools and dark wood. We had some Blue Point oysters to start (they were great) and the Tuna Tar Tar appetizer. It was very good (my fav restaurant in MD used to have this app and I would think about it for 2 days afterward). We shared the brussel sprouts -they were hands down the best I have ever had!! *Thank you for sharing the recipe!! My orange pomegranate mule was delicious as well. I had the spicy sriracha dish with rice and spinach, it was very good. Not too heavy nor spicy. Friend had the swordfish and she really enjoyed it. Her
Dad have the dover sole with mashed potatoes and asparagus - clean plate club! I highly recommend this place and hope to be able to go again on another visit to the area.
Our reservations were for 07:30 Sat night, and we arrived at 07:30. The hostess said they were just cleaning our table and we would be seated in about 5 minutes. After about 20 minutes I checked and they were still not ready. They then took my cell phone number and said they would call me. We found two seats at the bar. After another 25 minutes I went up to the hostess station and asked when the table would be ready and she said, "I called your name but you didn't reply." We were seated 30 feet away at the bar, it was so noisy and crowded that you could not hear anyone calling any names. Then I reminded her she took my number to call and she said, "Oh yeah, I forgot." They really need to get some mature, experienced hostesses especially on a crowded, in-season night like last Sat.
We had reservations for 2 weeks to have , no one was waiting for one, so we were really disappointed When the Hostess sat us behind a high top table of a party of 20 loudly celebrating up against a back wall inside with no view. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk to each other. My Husband quickly asked if we could have another table. The Hostess, then sat us outside. That area was very nice to have Dinner. Our Waitress was great. Hostess was not bad, but not real friendly, or outgoing.
this reservation was for lunch and the quality and service was as excellent. as it was for dinner. Some restaurants do not have a full management staff on for lunch. this was not the case at Blue point. The manager came to the table and asked if he could explain any of the menu. The sea food is fresh and prepared properly ( grilled sword fish ). The dessert was French bread pudding. Note that I am not a fan of bread pudding. but my date was. We shared the bread pudding for dessert. It is now one of my favorite dessert.
We've been to this restaurant numerous times, and the best description I can give about Blue Pointe is analogous to Forrest Gump's mother's description about life....you never know what you'll get at Blue Pointe. We've had great dinners with great service, bad dinners where we say that we'll never come back, and like this evening--mediocre food with mediocre service.
Consistent with every visit has been the delicious pizza dough rolls, but with this visit we saw the continuing decline in portion size of the cole slaw....c'mon man! The entrees were delivered late and the quality of fish left much to be desired. My rice was neither sticky nor warm....a very disappointing evening! But, eventually, we'll come back and hope for a much better evening.
