Blue Plate Taco Ratings and Reviews
DON'T PARK AT THE SHORE HOTEL if you are dining at Blue Plate Taco, even though they validate for 2 hours. I parked there and my window was smashed and some Buds stolen. The Shore Hotel does nothing for you if your car is vandalized and items are stolen. The same thing happened to 4 other cars that night----the Security there is USELESS.
Picture a seaside patio with a view of the Santa Monica ferris wheel and ocean. Mix in a casual vibe coupled with polished service and a Mexican menu with enough unique preparations of the standards that your mouth starts watering as you read. This is Blue Plate Taco. I couldn't decide between the lobster taco with a chipotle sauce, the veggie taco with wilted greens, peppers, pumpkin seeds and goat cheese, and the shrimp taco with a cilantro toss---all served with a side of chopped mango to sprinkle inside. The server said--have all three, and I did. I don't know which one was the best. The cocktail menu has some creative options, too, and for those that don't drink there's fresh watermelon or pineapple spritzed in sparkling water. Great spot!
Meh, pretty good. Our waiter could of been more attentive, it wasn’t that busy there. Good location but you’re not walking out of there under $150 for two. All the eateries are way over priced in that area, taking advantage of the tourists, hell why not! Gouge em!!
Tuna tuna tar tar. Was very good.
Blue Plate Taco has a great ambiance. It's well decorated & has great views of the pier & ocean. However, for the quality of the food it's quite overpriced. It's definitely not authentic & doesn't have much flavor. There are far better, more flavorful options of Mexican food in LA.
Can’t beat the sunset views while enjoying tasty margaritas and good Mexican food. We enjoyed the fish tacos, the steak tacos and veggie enchiladas plus chips and salsa. A fun atmospher. Love that blankets are provided for those chilly coastal evenings. We’ll be back.
The Lobster tacos are just as good as everyone raves about! We had the steak, fish and lobster tacos to share. I wish that we had only shared two plates because you had to role me out of there afterwards. We also had a half plate of guac and chips which I highly recommend as opposed to the full if you plan on eating a regular size dinner afterwards. The ambiance was amazing we went around 5:45 planning on watching the sunset and we're seated right outside, it was beautiful. The margarita wasn't what I was expecting, I got the classic but wish I got one that was a bit jazzed up. Then I had the white sangria which was amazing but very sweet. My husband got the red sangria which was delish. Overall a great experience.
Situated on the bustling and visually entertaining Ocean Ave in the heart of Santa Monica, overlooking the famous Santa Monica Pier, this place is definitely a neighborhood gem. Every now and then, when I get an itch for snoozy sunset margaritas and no frill fajitas and this is the place to hang out. Be sure to ask for patio seating since the epic sunsets and eclectic crowd watching will add to your overall dining experience.
This place needs new management and an overall attitude adjustment. It was my girl
friends birthday, I wanted to make this a special night. I reserved on OpenTable and left a note that we'd like a table by the window and that I would like them to bring out a desert. I also called to follow up on my request. The girl who took my call sounded agitated, but agreed. We got there and they did not reserve us the table I asked for, and when we said we had asked earlier the hostess was rude and made a "pssshh" sound.. on top of that the waiter was rude to us when we sat down, I tried to ask him a question at one point and got a hand in my face and "give me a minute OK?". They did not bring out a desert for my girlfriends bday. I spoke to the manager to give him the opportunity to make it good, he refused to do anything. Would never come back here.
Blue Plate is really solid - not a huge menu, but all well executed. Steak and pork belly tacos were both delicious, and the guac is tasty too. Good people watching on Ocean, and you can see the ocean, which is always a plus! The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly both times I came here.
I love blue plate and frequent there. I made reservations for 3 on open table and upon arrival we had to wait 10ish minutes for our table which is totally fine, but they took us to a table that would've been small for two people and we were very cramped. Hardly any room for us to sit comfortably. This is a busy place with damn good food but this made me a little upset.
You had me at the El Matador margaritas! A pitcher was a great value and the food was good and healthy. Salsa was excellent. Restaurant was obviously overwhelmed by an unexpectedly busy Sunday night, but our waiter didn't miss a beat. We had a wonderful time!
