About Blue Plate Oysterette
Blue Plate Oysterette was inspired by East Hampton summer lobster bakes and mouthwatering lunches at Montauk’s favorite roadside eateries. With influences like Pearl Oyster Bar and Mary’s Fish Camp in New York, Oysterette serves lunch and dinner seven days a week with a menu straight out of the seafood shacks you find on the East Coast. Chunky, overflowing lobster rolls, buckets of steamed clams in broth so flavorful that bread demands to be dunked, clam chowder, mussels in broth, ceviche, and raw shellfish so fresh you can smell the ocean. Filling the void in the Westside restaurant scene for a casual, beachy, seafood restaurant and buzzing neighborhood vibe appealing to both surfers and studio heads.

Blue Plate Oysterette Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I ordered from the DineLa menu. The starter that I wanted was not available so I had to order a substitution that was mediocre. I ordered the lobster tacos for my main course and the lobster was chewy plus the taco shell could have came from Taco bell. This culinary experience was a total let down.
Took friends here as our guests, they loved it as did we. The Pinot Griglio was good and priced fairly. Shared the Kale salad & Octopus for the table, I had an excellent crab cake, husband the great lobster & cheese, friends had mussels. All very good. Pretty loud ona Thur. Night but will definitely go back!
Our waiter was high, he couldn’t remember what we ordered. Then he bring our first course of oysters to us twice and didn’t even realize that he did it. After waiting thirty minutes for the second round of oysters we didn’t order he asked if we wanted free wine so that we would forgive him. We left the restaurant and went to another one down the street where our waiter there actually remember what course we were on and what we ordered
We will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This recked our date night
A great DineLA deal! The clam chowder was fantastic and loaded with clams, the crab cake was even better -- very meaty and served with a small but tasty arugula salad. The pesto shrimp served over linguine were giant and well prepared. Key lime pie was an ample serving with just the right amount of tang.
We were seated on the patio and the sun was brutal that day. There wasn’t any sort of shade so it was beating down on us and we got sunburned. They were out of everything I ordered: sparkling water, and 2 of their daily fish specials. I guess 3rd time is the charm. The food was fine but the services and experience was mediocre at best.
Packed us into booth seating ridiculously small area, had to move table just to get in. restaurant very busy so may not be the norm (had reservation though).
Service was slow. Food was mediocre, mignonette sauce with oysters was not great, oysters were very good.
My dinner experience here was great for DineLA Week 2018. The chowder was decent; it had a nice clammy flavor and was very thick. The crab cake with arugula salad was fantastic; lots of fresh lump crab and little breading at all. The main of the lobster roll (naked) was loaded with meat, dressed lightly with butter and came with a ton of fries. The key lime pie dessert was pretty large and really delicious. Service was great and seating outdoors was lovely at night. Will recommended!
I tried this place as part of DineLA Week. It’s small (intimate might be a better word), but nice. Don’t sit near the front door because the draft is annoying. That’s why I subtracted one star. The menu is fantastic. I tried two different East Coast oysters ( sorry, forgot their names) and they were excellent. The blueberry sorbet was good, and the service was awesome. Scott was very attentive and nice. I would come back here in the spring to see if it’s a good place for the summer. I’m glad I tried it out.
First visit was a memorable one! We were seated right away, seating request in my reservation was fulfilled. The staff was friendly with helpful suggestions. Our waiter took the time to describe the fresh catch specials. The raw oysters we're quick to arrive and the mussels in white wine we're tasty. Sat at the bar and got to see a lot of great looking dishes go out. I will definitely keep this place in mind for my next trip!
This restaurant hypes itself as a New England style place, but the food isn’t even close and the atmosphere is just alright. I’m from Boston so maybe that is why I was underwhelmed. The chowder was not very good and the fish and chips was okay but nothing special. If you want food from the northeast go somewhere else.
I have always enjoyed Blue Plate Oysterette. It's comfortable, the food is great and the wait staff is amazing. I almost always get the Lobster Roll and have never been disappointed. (I do wish they would bring back their Crab Roll sandwich, the only thing better than the Lobster Roll.) Everyone in my party of three left feeling happy that we had chosen Blue Plate Oysterette and anxious to return.
Blue Plate came highly recommended by a friend who spends lots of time in Santa Monica, but we left underwhelmed. The food was just OK, but our server, Telaine? was very good. I think it's probably a better place for a casual lunch. We were hoping for a better dinner. It is a very casual place so don't expect a nice dinner atmosphere. It's more like a burger counter that happens to serve seafood.
Despite it's prime Ocean Blvd. location, this restaurant was a genuine foodie experience with no hint of attitude. Great servers and delicious food. We lingered for a long time with friends we had not seen in decades and were not pressured to leave. Best clam chowder I've had since my recent trip to Oregon. Parking is easy but expensive...$22 in the lot next door but it was worth it for the convenience.
Food in LA is so often a let down. Thank god we found this spot where the seafood and everything else we had was super fresh, simply- and excellently-cooked.
We will be back for more oysters and delicious grilled fish
Went here with my parents who are in their 70s and nobody felt out of there place.
Spent $200 on dinner. Don't want to feel rushed by the host to make room for other people. we were there for under an hr and ordered a bottle of wine. Just plane rude of the host. A man in his mid-late 30's with short haircut. Our waitress was a amazing Saturday night and had great recommendations.
