Blue Plate Oysterette

Seafood
Blue Plate Oysterette was inspired by East Hampton summer lobster bakes and mouthwatering lunches at Montauk’s favorite roadside eateries. With influences like Pearl Oyster Bar and Mary’s Fish Camp in New York, Oysterette serves lunch and dinner seven days a week with a menu straight out of the seafood shacks you find on the East Coast. Chunky, overflowing lobster rolls, buckets of steamed clams in broth so flavorful that bread demands to be dunked, clam chowder, mussels in broth, ceviche, and raw shellfish so fresh you can smell the ocean. Filling the void in the Westside restaurant scene for a casual, beachy, seafood restaurant and buzzing neighborhood vibe appealing to both surfers and studio heads.

It's very noisy, crowded and my friend had the scallop dish and it was like an appetizer. There is no consistency. Also why don't they bring back the Cobb Salad with Shrimp. That was great. Also parking is now $17.00. It's crazy.

Half our party arrived a little early, expecting to grab a drink at the bar. They already had our table ready and seated us immediately. Our server went out of his way to ensure we got everything we wanted despite the other half of our party arriving 30 minutes late. The food was excellent, had oysters, iceberg & crab salad, and lobster roll. Our friends had clam chowder and oysters. Everyone was pleased with their choices. Even got a celebrity seated next to us. True California experience. Highly recommend to everyone that enjoys seafood in a nice atmosphere.

We tried a variety of dishes and everything was quite good. Enjoyed the lobster Mac and cheese and the crab cake in particular. A little loud, but once we got into our evening we didn’t notice as much. Overall a good experience.

The food was really good but when we had to lowed the clear tarp because of the wind,it was old and cloudy so we couldn't see the beach or water anymore.

We love Oysterette. The most amazing service, and the oysters and curry mussels are must-haves. Even the french fries are perfect. We had an issue with our mussels (a number of closed ones) and they made us a fresh batch right away. If you ask for recommendations, you'll always get steered in the right direction here. Our only complaint: the new valet company charges $17 for parking. Yikes! Park elsewhere.

One of my favorite LA spots for casual seafood! The staff is great, the food is great, and I love the beachy ambience. Just bring a jacket if it's chilly, even if you're sitting indoors. That ocean breeze cuts through the place when the door is open.

Delicious food. The A/C system should be adjusted so that it doesn't dump cold air on the diners.

The menu has changed a bit / not sure if there has been a change in chef but the fish tacos had far too much sauce on them & the fries didn't have enough old bay. That said, the food was still good, just not as i remember.

Fantastic service, very attentive. Nice seating options offered at check in. The oyster selection and presentation/preparation is very good. The fish portions were quite small for the price. The New England Clam Chowder was very ordinary (almost tasted like canned soup). The key lime pie is AMAZING. Spendy for a regular night out for middle income folks, but very good overall.

Loved the oysters and the crab cakes. Was very surprised about the little to none filling. Will definitely eat here again and again. Oh and the stone crabs were good as well but prefer them warm. This place is inviting, friendly and we'll established with the workers who were all very nice and accommodating.

We usually love this restaurant but not this time. The fried Oysters were fabulous, my husbands fish was on par - but I had the Cioppino which must have been sitting (and this was early evening) the fish and shrimp were like leather and it was barely warm which rapidly became cold. By the time I was asked and offered a new dish I had lost my appetite, and wasn't enamored by the broth anyway. It was also a cold night with a wind and the continual opening of the outside door sent that cold wind all the way back - that didn't help. I am sure I will come back - but not for a while after that experience.

I am currently in the process of relocating to Los Angeles and saw this restaurant based on the reviews. The staff was amazing, the quality of the food for the price was outstanding. I was expecting an outlandish bill. I also met Damon the manager who was so personable. He gave me great recommendations about L.A. to help me get settled in. Thank you! I will be back I with the rest of my family.

BPO was amazing!!! I loved oyster happy hour and thought the chef chose perfectly for my 1/2 dozen chef's choice during happy hour. I also sampled the other oysters of the day and they were delicious too!

My lobster roll was fantastic and I loved being able to watch the sunset over the ocean while wrapping my legs in the provided blankets (nice touch) and sipping my beer. The service could not have been better too.

I highly recommend BPO!

Sadly this visit to BPO fell a bit short. To start the host was a bit rude when seating us, short responses, not interested in being helpful. Then we sat for 15 minutes with no server in sight, we had to ask another server if we had a waiter. Food was good, as always, but the poor service really put us off.

The restaurant was very quaint with nice decor. Table space was limited so we were hesitant about ordering a lot of food. The service was outstanding. The oysters were fresh and delicious, clam chowder was yummy. Our mains-lobster and spanish octopus-were overcooked. The manager was kind to comp us replacement lobster. Overall a mostly good experience.

Outside seating is obviously at a premium in the late afternoon hours but seriously felt like everyone working was brand new. Service was beyond slow and the food is a terrible value, especially considering half of the menu features items from New England.

Every dish out Table ordered was fabulous!.... The chef came out with his dinner special to photograph it in the sun, I saw it and asked if he would consider making one for my lunch, He paused for a moment at the table then said "Sure, why not! Just ask your waiter for it." So I did and it was amazing.... Whole deboned fish baked in s tangy slightly sweet sauce.....My wife had the warm lobster roll, and we all split a big bowl of the curry mussels....

Little bit disappointed this time. Wife and I ordered Cioppino, moderately warm---shrimp undercooked. Last time it was excellent. We should have sent the fish stew back and let them know of our displeasure. Alas, we didn't. Salad and keylime pie were great.
