Our server Andrew really went above and beyond. He was such a doll and really made our experience
We go out of our way to eat at Blue Plate. Small but quaint. Staff is amazing. Always get good service. Food is delicious and prices are very reasonable.
Ran out of wines, food. Food prep was really average. So overpriced and loud. Won’t return.
Consistent, yummy, friendly, a go to Santa Monica spot.
The lobster Mac and cheese was fantastic and I loved the lobster rolls. We had oysters and they were fresh and delicious. I thought that the fish and chips was little heavy on the coating. But it was a wonderful dinner.
We had a wonderful experience. I was worried when we got there as it was cold and they offered outdoor seating...even though we had a reservation for inside, but they came through quickly with a nice table and we had an exemplary meal. Oysters were excellent, fish terrific.
Tasty oysters and fresh fish but side veggies were inedible because of too much salt added and after the complaint the staff did not apologise nor offer an alternative
Food was not stellar, just a step above a chain like Cheesecake Factory. Heavy and greasy. The atmosphere was a cold windy and noisy evening spent on what seemed like a curb of a busy street.
The food is excellent, albeit a tad pricey. The oysters were delicious and very fresh. We had lobster tacos and swordfish, both of which were very tasty. They have an excellent wine selection too. We sat outside on the patio which was cute with string twinkly lights, but is was a little cramped. My boyfriend is 6’5” and he had some trouble getting comfortable, the tables are very close together with little legroom. The patio is so cute though that we didn’t mind the tight squeeze too much. Would definitely return!
Sit outside on patio if you want to hear any conversation
Delicious food - especially the key lime pie! Slightly disappointing wine selection, but otherwise can’t fault the place!
Changes to the menus was really disappointing. Looked forward to the tuna tartar on crostini. The changes were a spicy sauce overpowering the tuna. Completely ruined the dish. Ordered my favorite shrimp in pesto invert linguini. Put gulf sized prawns in it. Tougher than the bottom of my shoe. The pasta was swimming in the pesto. Felt like gravy. Couldn’t eat it. Was offered free key lime pie. You can keep it. You ruined my favorite restaurant in Santa Monica.
My dinner date ordered the striper bass which was hood but the portion size was extremely disappointing for the money. There’s a ton of that fish available in the surrounding waters. You could have been more generous with the offering.
Sadly, I’ll be seeking out a new favorite spot.
While we were told by the manager to try new things-
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
If you go before 5:30 don't park in the lot ext door, $2.50 for 12 min or $22.00 all day, ouch! Great oysters!
We were seated on time and the service and food were great
Very good service but the seafood was unremarkable. Best thing was the side sauteed spinach and garlic. It is a great location and if it's not too cold you can sit outside and look at the spectacular ocean view. This is of course the reason to go and the reason that is it quite expensive for the food quality and ambiance.
One thing: we were there early to catch the sunset and the music was pop and EDM played too loud for conversation. The waiter kindly lowered it by half but it was still annoying and not a great dinner soundtrack.
The service was excellent and the food was very good, although a little overpriced in my opinion.
But don't let that stop you, I'll definitely be heading back there soon.
Don't go there if you have any food allergies and/or special needs. They were very gracious about not having paid attention to my request for plain food with no additives but then sent a replacement with more additives.
Generally I have enjoyed dining here as I love the oyster selection. This time they forgot to get my oyster appetizer into the kitchen. When I asked about it the waiter was surprised I still wanted oysters and was encouraging me to skip them and continue with my entree instead. I told them to go ahead with the oysters and cancel the entree, especially since they said the oysters were only “30 seconds away” so of course they arrived after time as everyone’s entree. Another member of our party ordered Mac and Cheese with their lobster roll and they served fries instead. Right before the check arrived they did provide the Mac and cheese and my entree at no charge but at the point I was waiting to pay the bill and go elsewhere for dessert. They were not on top of their game unfortunately.
Overall experience was very disappointing. From the host to the waiter being not helpful at all. I️ ordered a Bronzino which clearly said full Bronzino and I️ received it in a filet and the server didn’t even say anything! I️ also ordered Calamari I️ seriously got like a few pieces of it. The manager was very nice and she tried to make it better but overall experience was done. I️ seriously regret tipping the waiter, never came back to even apologize.
The food didn't justify the cost. The portions were extremely small and the bill was outrageous for what it was. The salmon was just about 1/4 for $18.00. It was prepared in a very basic manner and if anything overcooked. Nothing special. The New England Clam Chowder was nothing like the real deal. I have spent years going to Maine and Cape Cod. The service was good. The Key Lime Pie was amazing. They hype didn't justify the cost.
Sit on patio if you want place for quiet conversation
Excellent oysters- slow service. I had lobster tacos which were very cheddary- unexpected and kinda gross but also kinda delicious. My friend enjoyed his Branzino.
My friend and I ordered from the DineLa menu. The starter that I wanted was not available so I had to order a substitution that was mediocre. I ordered the lobster tacos for my main course and the lobster was chewy plus the taco shell could have came from Taco bell. This culinary experience was a total let down.
I'm a local and really enjoy dining here. The oysters are delicious as is the famous key lime
pie. The wait staff are sweet and friendly. Perfect, delicious and casual.
Some of the finest oysters from the PNW that I've ever tasted. Great beer selection, excellent service, extremely clean. Cannot wait to visit on my next trip to the LA area.
Love this place. General Manager took great care of ya. Food was amazing as was the wait service. We enjoyed the ahi tuna appetizer and the barramundi special. Mac ‘n cheese was awesome. Can’t wait to go back!
Took friends here as our guests, they loved it as did we. The Pinot Griglio was good and priced fairly. Shared the Kale salad & Octopus for the table, I had an excellent crab cake, husband the great lobster & cheese, friends had mussels. All very good. Pretty loud ona Thur. Night but will definitely go back!
Our waiter was high, he couldn’t remember what we ordered. Then he bring our first course of oysters to us twice and didn’t even realize that he did it. After waiting thirty minutes for the second round of oysters we didn’t order he asked if we wanted free wine so that we would forgive him. We left the restaurant and went to another one down the street where our waiter there actually remember what course we were on and what we ordered
We will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
This recked our date night
One of my very favorite in LA. Everything is perfect.
Fun evening with my fiancée. Great views and atmosphere
We went for DineLA. Oysters are really fresh and juice. My friend loves the lobster taco. I got kale salad with salmon. It is great too.
A great DineLA deal! The clam chowder was fantastic and loaded with clams, the crab cake was even better -- very meaty and served with a small but tasty arugula salad. The pesto shrimp served over linguine were giant and well prepared. Key lime pie was an ample serving with just the right amount of tang.
Food and Service and Ambience were great. We'll be back.
We were seated on the patio and the sun was brutal that day. There wasn’t any sort of shade so it was beating down on us and we got sunburned. They were out of everything I ordered: sparkling water, and 2 of their daily fish specials. I guess 3rd time is the charm. The food was fine but the services and experience was mediocre at best.
Food was greasy and tasteless. The lobster tacos were dripping with sauce but only a microscopic piece of lobster that didn’t even taste like lobster! Overpriced and disappointing. We won’t be back.
Our server John made the night. Fun professional attentive. Great seafood obviously with nice paleo options. Not great seating options for parties over 4.
Food is fantastic. Great portions, tasty, fresh, and great service.
Normally we won’t eat oysters when not in The Pacific Northwest , but if you are missing out on fresh PNW oysters, this is the place to go!
