Blue On Highland Ratings and Reviews
My first time eating and it was worth the drive from Cambridge to have dinner with colleagues who were in town and staying in Natick. The service was great and our server did a great job recommending dishes. Loved the guacamole as an appetizer. The salmon was perfectly prepared with a great sauce and the parm risotto was outstanding!
Usually, this restaurant is very good ... it must have been a very off night! The server messed up every part of our order ... the bussers were bringing the wrong dishes to tables. I ordered white wine and was brought red. I told him to stop before he poured and yet still poured it into the glass. The food had hair in it. We didn't even bother to send it back due to all the repeated screw ups.
I've eaten here dozens of times and this was the WORST experience - by far!
Our girls night get-together unanimously decided on this place as we wanted prime rib. All of us ordered a queen size (12 oz) prime rib. It was all made to perfection as it was printed on menu, rare to medium-rare. The dish included baby roasted potatoes which came out pipping hot, but I thought was a bit dry even for a baby size when you pop an entire potato in your mouth. Garlic broccolini was good and made al dente. It wasn't bitter like broccolini is normally. The au jus was just right for the steak. The cut was good too. Not too fatty. I don't recall any horseradish sour cream and I'm usually one for horseradish with my prime rib. I guess it was that good that I didn't need it.
Two glasses of red wines were ordered: Merlot and Malbec. Decent wine selection and a 2-page selection of IPA beers and cocktails. Ice tea was served in a large drinking mason jar, ice filled to the tippy top. Caesar salad was delicious with their house made caesar dressing and shaved parmesan. Chocolate lava cake was good too. It could have used a bit more "lava". Good thing there was vanilla ice cream accompanying it. I would definitely go back for the food and service. Our waiter was fast! He came back with my salad and then with our dishes at the same time. Timing was great with drinks too. The dining area was a decent atmosphere for conversation. I did however notice the table we were at which sat for four had a partisan that separated another party for two. The partition was a bit low in my opinion so at times I locked eyes with person on that side of the table. Other than that, it was a great evening for good conversation and food. The bar area at the front of the restaurant was jammed pack. Not a seat empty and lots of standing customers near bar.
I like to eat here with t he family, but I do have some bad points to share. It was SO LOUD when we ate, not only was the table next to us loud but the whole place is very loud. You can barely hear the person talking to you across the table. This is always the case, they have to fix this because otherwise you are just going to get the bar crowd. I dont see continuing to come here when it is always so loud! Love the food, the waiter was good, wine good, it is in my neighborhood so I love to walk here, but please, please, do something about the noise level.
The food was good. The service was good. On a Sunday night it wasn't very busy so it wasn't too noisy which looks like it would be a problem given high ceilings and wood floors if restaurant was full.
The food was not anything very remarkable but well done. I think quite expensive for what you got.
They did have a lot of beers on tap and what we ordered was very good.
We made a reservation & asked for a booth upon arrival. We were told 2 parties of 5 were expected for those seats. They sat us near the bar & another loud group. The booths went unused during our dinner and when we were leaving they sat a party of 2 in the booth.
Also the waitress seamed to be disinterested in helping us. My husband asked for ice for the water table & a glass only 1/3 full of ice was given. It melted very quickly & he asked for more ice. The service was not good.
I can find a better place for the price that is for certain.
Blu on Highland is a vibrant bistro. The food is pretty much farm to table with a variety of choices. The service is attentive but not intrusive and we were able to enjoy a leisurely lunch. My only complaint is that it tends to be a little loud, so may be a little energetic for a business lunch. Fun spot for casual meet ups and would highly recommend.
Chose Blue in Highland just based on convenience of location for a family gathering. Pleasantly surprised - the food was excellent and the menu has a wide range of price points. Everyone in our group raved about their meals and we will definitely go back next time we're the in area.
Overall, this place was a disappointing. The food was, at best, just okay - clearly prepped and ready to go. Lobster risotto dish and the beef plate were ordered and delivered in less than 10 minutes. Some might appreciate that, but that screams “pre-cooked” (and as a result, continually heated) to me. The arugula salad was good and also came out unusually quickly. The server was short and unfriendly, and atmosphere was quite loud considering the few people that were in the restaurant. Desserts were terrible- and we have 3 to share! Not one was decent enough to finish...and I love dessert! Didn’t even finish the ice cream, which is basically the sin of all sins. Our bill was over $200, and for that price you’d expect a slightly better product.
We were very pleased with this choice. We had a large group on a Friday night and were able to reserve on Open Table. The ambiance was great. We had a perfect table and a great night. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the selection of entrees was terrific. This was a far cry from a french bistro in Dedham that seemed to go out if their way to make it difficult for us due to the size of our party (13). Thank you Blue, for a great evening!
The atmosphere was great and the menu had lots of choices but unfortunately I didn't like what I ordered. However my friend's lamb was delicious.
Although a nice and cozy place, I did find it pricey and the waitress was a bit rushed. She didn't add anything to the experience.
My wife and I both ordered the same meal. I had a glass of cabernet sauvignon. My wife had ice tea. The wine list is diverse enough to find something you would like at a price you want to spend. The ice tea came in a jar-cute. We both had the Caesar Salad to start. It was plentiful and fresh. Our entre was the New York Sirloin. Both were cooked to perfection. The meal comes with a sweet potato puree and we substituted asparagus for the broccolini, which we find a bit bitter. On this night we made a reservation a 5:00 PM through Open Table for a 6:20PM reservation.
The Blue was rocking. There was a lively bar scene and the tables filled up immediately after our arrival. Not a place to come to for a romantic meal as it is very open and voices carry. But if you want a well prepared meal and a menu with some classics as well as some creative dishes, then this is your place.
