Blue Moose offers great food and great service! Their outdoor patio is fantastic!
Excellent salmon and cream cauliflower
We go here often and the food was not qualify as norm we was highly disappointed
We’ve been here several times for Happy Hour and dinner. Usually everything is good and prices are reasonable. Our Fathers Day brunch was a little disappointing. First we asked for a booth and while there were 5 booths empty but not cleared off, we were asked if a table would be ok? Not wanting to wait any longer to be seated we said fine.
While in line to get our food, I noticed the salmon and shrimp were both out when we got to them. No staff appeared to replace the empty platters. The asparagus was hard and woody. The prime rib was very good, but unfortunately when I went back for a second piece there was only small end pieces left.
For the price the brunch was mediocre at best.
We very much enjoyed the Father's Day brunch on Sunday, great service, good food selection on the buffet.
The ambiance was great. Service exceptional. I ordered the sirlon and crab cakes for starter. My steak came, but no crab cakes. Manager comped the entire meal because of the late crab cakes. That is great customer service. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Crab cakes came and they were good too. But, really, the steak, WOW!
We ordered the fish taco's for lunch. I asked for double rice and no black beans. When the food came I think I had the entire pot of rice on my plate. Really? How could one person eat that much hot sticky rice when it was 100 degrees outside? Fish taco's were soggy on bottom, had to eat with fork. The price was way too expensive for what we got. We ordered a "petite" chocolate dessert and it was a regular size. The dessert came out 20 minutes after we asked for it which made me late for work. The restaurant was not busy so there is no reason why we had to ask where our dessert was. Too expensive, waitress was too busy for us and food was not good. Will not come back or recommend this establishment.
Service was excellent, food was ok. Ambience was nice.
We had booked 3 separate reservations for parties of 6 with a note saying we’d love to all be together if possible. Your restaurant called us and mentioned the party room was open and a few extra servers were on hand so you could definitely make it work. Our server was amazing (wish I would have written down her name), the food was timely and excellent and the room was very spacious. Our only complaint was that it was a little warm in the room. The outside temp was in the high 90s, the room had very high ceilings and until you called us late that afternoon I’m sure you weren’t preparing for the room to be used so I’m sure those al played into why it was warm. That is our only complaint. Thanks so much for making room for our Volleyball team and parents who were in town from Overland Park for the pre-Nationals tourney. We will be back!
The outdoor venue with the fire pit is excellent. Having the ability to watch sports outside would also be nice.
We really enjoyed our experience. Food was awesome!!!
The food was excellent as always, and the service was outstanding. The shrimp won-tons were excellent a must have appetizer! Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. I would definitely suggest getting a reservation because it's a very busy place.
I got a filet and it was pretty much tasteless other than the taste of propane. I was very disappointed
A Mother's Day dinner gone wrong-ish. The women's bathroom was filthy and had the appearance of having been so for hours (paper towels all over the vanity when the trash wasn't even full; huge globs of wet paper towels on the floor; stalls also a mess; etc.). The carpet in the restaurant had spill-stains and food all over it. The menu was outdated (things we asked for were not just out--although that happened, too--but they no longer offered them). The staff was friendly and apologetic, but it was a failure as a nice place to celebrate Mother's Day. I can understand things might have been hectic earlier in the day following brunch, but sometime around 3:00 they should have kicked it up and gotten ready for the dinner crowd. Totally phoned it in.
Fantastic wings...salad ok, a bit too much on the crushed red pepper. Great desserts.
Nothing special! Over priced Applebees, only you have more choices at Applebees. Food is overpriced. Will not be back for sure!
Ate a late lunch at 2 pm. There were only a few people in the restaurant but they seemed to have plenty of staff. However the staff was more interested in cleaning tables and doing other things other than tending to people waiting to be seated and once seated, getting service. A gal came to our table saying she would be waiting on us and we never saw her again (at our table). We had to track someone down to take our order. I will give the gal credit who did wait on us as she seemed to be as confused as we were and helped us with a misorder on our part. But overall the service was dismal and the food 'OK'. I made an Open Table reservation and never got a notification that I received my points so not sure if I got credit or not.
Out of several things on the menu, small servings, mediocre service. Disappointing.
I had made reservations 2 days ahead and also called the day of and reservation was confirmed. I had a party of 11 and a baby so wanted to make sure we would not have to wait. When we arrived at the time of reservation we were told it would be 25-30 minutes for our table. Now whole reason of making prior arrangements was to avoid this wait. We had a 2 month old and several family members from out of town. We had to continuously “argue” with staff and management making it an unpleasant experience for our family. They had an open banquet room they ended up giving to us however we waited longer than needed and had to almost demand something be done. Initially they were not even going to give us the banquet room because they didn’t have adequate staff? Well very dissatisfied with the reservation process.
I always enjoy eating/drinking at The Blue Moose. The atmosphere is very nice and welcoming.
The food and ambience were good, a bit on the pricey side but good selection. Took my family for my wife's birthday and everything was going well until our waiter asked my youngest son if he wanted a refill on his soda then added " I will bring it in a to go cup" , we took that as an invitation to leave, we did but will not be back soon, thought it a little rude especially on a $90 ticket.
Our server was awful. Slow to bring drinks, didn't refill. And when we asked for a refill, she grimaced like she was doing us a favor. Appetizer came but no plates to eat it on. Seemed mad when we asked for plates, and by the time she brought them, our food was cold. Bad experience overall.
I went with a small group, three of us got the sirloin and they were all very undercooked. We would have liked to send them back but our waitress never came back and we were out of time from waiting so long for our food. It was a shame because we paid so much.
Great place to celebrate a Friday night.
We got our food very fast, that means a lot. The noise was too loud, had to hold a conversation. Recommend noise baffles to soften the volume.
The reason for choosing this restaurant is that it was 1/2 way to my sons college where met to have dinner with him. Our reservation was at 4:30pm and when we walked in, no one was at the host stand to greet us but we looked around and sat ourselves after seeing my son who was already sat. After we sat down,we noticed the hostess at the front who appeared to be laying her head down on the counter while the manager (older tall man with glasses) stood next to her. We patiently waited for a solid 10-12min before our server approached our table and during our wait, the manager had walked by numerous times with no acknowledgement towards us or by the server waiting on the table next to us. Once the server did greet us, she did apologize (I did not blame her as she had one large table besides us and thought the manager should have stepped it up (I believe there was only 3 other tables with guests the restaurant was slow). We ordered drinks and an appetizer that was brought to the table by the manager with no side plates or utensils. The meal came out and was placed on the table while we still had our dirty appetizer plates remaining. We immediately noticed some concerns with our meals so we waved down the manager to correct it and remove the old plates (as we had not seen our server for quite some time)The waitress came back at the end of the meal and asked about dessert. When the dessert came, they once again placed the new food down without picking up the old dishes (the manager was present this time and we had to ask for them to be removed.) I do not know of any restaurant that thinks it is ok not to remove empty plates before you bring the next course - ridiculous. To be honest, this was the 2nd time at this location for us and like the first time, we did not enjoy it but was hoping that it was a fluke.Obviousty it was not and will not be returning.
Our server was great and very attentive. Provided excellent service to the adults and especially the kids. Will be back throughout the year and hopefully next Easter. Thank you Laurie
Makenzie was our server. We were celebrating my mother's birthday. We never had to wait for refills or special request. Michael the manager stopped by to assure all needs were met. Very pleased with the experience.
Food was good. Waiter not so good - He left us for a long periods of time , one of our group ordered a bowl of soup and salad for their meal - he brought out a cup of soup - long before anyone else had their food - then he realized it was not a bowl so he brought another cup! So that person ate while we all waited for our food. Then when we needed to leave - he was nowhere to be found. We asked several other waiters and then the host who finally brought out check. We will return but hope to have better service.
Decent food, slow service
Had reservations at 7 PM got there 10 minutes early and still didn’t get seated till after 7:30 PM
The last time that I used OpenTable for a reservation, it went flawlessly. I have no idea how this happened or why, but this time, when I made the reservation, it associated my dad's name with my account. My dad does not use things like this and it made for an uncomfortable and awkward situation to go to the restaurant and they were apprehensive to let me in on the reservation when it was not under my name, but my dad's. It is hard to make any sense of this. I kept a screen shot of the reservation bc it is always a good backup plan in case anything ever happens.
An above average restaurant for Topeka, Kansas. Even though we went at a slow time of the day, our server did not stop by as often as we would have liked. Food was wonderful. Our server also ordered the wrong item, but the issue was resolved with a price cut.
If your idea of a good dinner is kids rolling around on the floor and the general noise level so loud you can't have a conversation then this is the place for you. The atmosphere is upscale sports bar. The food was actually much better than I was expecting and was delivered quickly. It was also the only redeeming quality of the visit.
Always great service & variety of selections for everyone on the menu - dinner is always delicious & you can’t beat their Sunday brunch!!
They need to build on. Too many people in too small of space makes it very noisy.
Took my mom there for her birthday. The food was excellent and well worth the price. The waitress forgot to put in one of our orders but came to us immediately to let us know. Mistakes happen and the fact that she came to us as soon as she realized the mistake showed good customer service skills on her part. It actually worked out perfectly because I ate while my daughter entertained my grandson and by the time her meal came out I entertained my grandson so she could eat. The manager also took some off our bill. Excellent customer service!
Went at 5:30pm on a Tuesday for my anniversary. Had a reservation but didn’t need it at that hour as it was busy but not packed. Great food and service with decent pricing. Wife and I had entrees that totaled $32 with tax. Nice ambiance and decor except for the really noisy environment. Forget about having a nice quiet and intimate conversation. It is really loud! Did not see any kids and it seems like a local watering hole kind of place that people go to after work for some happy hour drinks as most customers were just there for drinks. That was probably due to the fact it was Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Would not recommend this place for a nice quiet dinner date or family place unless you have a 2 year old then you and everyone else probably wouldn’t even notice him crying anyways with all the background noise. Would recommend if you and some friends want a good place to go to for some drinks.
Table was ready at the selected time. No issues during our visit.
Thank you for an awesome time ~ we generally do not go to the Blue Moose because of the loud noise. We went for Restaurant Week and appreciated the 'no wait' for a table and for the amazing Jammin Salmon. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day to try out the Restaurant Week lunch!
