The Blue Mermaid Chowder House and Bar is located at the west end of Fisherman's Wharf next to Aquatic Park and Victoria Park. It offers fabulous settings for all types of private affairs.

Good place to meet for an early dinner before monthly Sea Chantey sing at Hyde St pier. Tasty corn chowder!
They were short of staff. The wait was extra long for drinks and our food.
A group of four went for dinner. We enjoyed our dinner and all was very good. However, a few items really stood out--the crab and corn chowder blew us away and the crab dip was excellent and a great size to share. Service was friendly and on-spot. We would return on our next visit to town.
I sent out of town clients to The Blue Mermaid and they loved it.
The food was good but the service was subpar
We stayed at The Argonaut Hotel and visited this restaurant during our stay. The service was great. Wished the food had been flavored a bit more. I ended up adding salt and pepper to give it some more flavor. Overall good though and would probably return in the future.
Great service and the food was outstanding
Food for the most part was great ... good wine ... good service ... New York steak was basically a breakfast steak but other than that pretty good ....
Brunch menu unti 5pm and is limited Food Quality is very good. Quite noisy.
Wonderful location and decor. Unfortunately the food was cold and one plate came with half the egg shell. Staff was very nice, but should have replaced the dish or taken it off the bill.
The food and the service was awesome
Though the food was fine, the service was awful. The hostess approached guest unprofessional and rude. The waitress would disappear for a long time and wasn't familiar with the menu. Our apps arrived long before our drinks. It wasn't busy to reflect such poor service.
Poor service
Rude waitress
Hostess not at the front, just wandering around and talking to waiters and bar people
Great ambience. Unfortunately we saw our waiter three times - when he took our order, when he brought food and when he brought our bill. Never stopped in to see if we needed anything. Had to flag someone down for salt & pepper shakers and ketchup. Too expensive for the lack of service and hospitality.
Loved the ambiance! Fire pits, dinner and drinks.
I chose the Crab Corn Chowder in the bread bowl, along with a side of fried Brussels Sprouts. The portion sizes were very generous, the chowder was like a party in my mouth! So delicious! The bread bowl tasted like it had just come fresh out of the oven. The Brussels Sprouts were fried to perfection. I look forward to going back one day!
Loved the food and drinks. We were very impressed. The only thing was that it was a little dark when we initially walked in, but we got used to the lighting and quickly adjusted.
Great seafood! The crab/corn chowder is an award winner and was superb! The oysters on the half shell are a MUST HAVE.
Our waiter Eli was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. AS Arnold said.. "I'll BE BACK BACK"
Beautiful night on the patio.
Great escape from wharf crowds. Very friendly staff.
Excellent meal, quality amazing as always. Came with international visitors who were very impressed
We were staying in the hotel and this was an easy option for our first night in town. We were pleasantly surprised. The decor is nice and the food good. There are no doubt many alternatives in San Francisco, but if you’ve got a bar this good on your doorstep you might not be tempted to look for them!
Serviceable breakfast in touristy part of town. Waiter was attentive and food was fine. There are better places in other neighborhoods but this place is a good choice if you are stuck in this area.
We went for a staff appreciation dinner and had a great time. We opted for all of the appetizers and small plates, which were delicious. The craft cocktails were very good and the employees who preferred beer were happy with the selection. Extra bonus, we sat outside and the weather was perfect. We would go back there for dinner next time we visit the wharf. This place is not a tourist rip off.
Wow, perfect in every way! Ciopinno was truly amazing. Our server Eli was relatable and professional, the corn crab chowder was hands down excellent, and the prices were pretty fair. Could not be any better in any way. Oh and the outdoor seating was great with heaters.
Everything was great with the exception of the dessert as one of the berries had mold, let the waitress know and she didn't even comp the dessert as we ordered two. Other than that it was amazing!!
We were visiting from Canada and picked the top ranked restaurant with some filters (not too pricey, bar type, with authentic food). We had the most amazing Crab and some good beer. One of the managers talked to us and the service was perfect. She even recommended some other places to visit in California.
Would definitely recommend and go back :)
The soap bowl was so delicious. Hands down one of the best
My only small niggle with this restaurant is actually the same niggle I have with many local restaurants. Bad selection or no vegetarian food. Salad isn't really what you want to be eating if you are having drinks with friends, believe me I've done it often enough. And salad is about it for vegetarians here.
Food and service was great!
The extra mandatory increase fee added to the check surprised us and even though our experience was great, it left a bad taste, unfortunately. Just be prepared to spend extra money on top of the check and gratuity!
Pleasant dinner after craziness of the Wharf. At the end of the strip so more quiet and relaxing.
Cool place, great New England clam chowder. Good atmosphere.
Chowder was metallic tasting and highly over salted. The crab and corn chowder was good, but spicy. The garlic fries were tossed and garnished with an over abundance of chopped raw garlic, even the server commented to the amount of garlic. The cheesy polenta gave an extra star for the food. Not a fan at all of the food 👎🏻
Fish tacos were excellent. Pasta was mushy, but clams and sauce were very good. Loved the outdoor space and the decor inside is spectacular. Service was friendly but not great. I would visit again.
On vacation in San Francisco
This restaurant was down by the water on beach st. In The Cannery area. An awesome guitarist played outside across the restaurant. We ate outdoors & they had heaters for those cool SF evenings. The food was good & the service was wonderful. The steak & potatoes were nice, especially the Parmesan crusted white potatoes! Definitely go!
Expected much more from a restaurant connected to Argonaut.
Nothing special
Crab and corn chowder was amazing!!! So was the Pork loin. Our waitress was also very helpful and recommended great options.
