Love this place...great food and service! The pastas is over the top!
Our third visit, this time for lunch. We had very nice BLT and turkey sandwiches. We were only surprised that some of the items that were on the dinner menu was not on the lunch menu. We were really looking for more of a meal than just sandwiches or salads. Services was goid.
Neat place, good food
The Blue Hound was a pleasant restaurant with an excellent cocktail selection. The food was OK, not fantastic. Our server was good.
Great service! Any occasion 😉
First visit and did not know what to expect. Was difficult to find and had to ask someone how to get there? Anyway, what a pleasant surprise. Excellent flavors with the baked chicken and others in the party were quite pleased with what they ordered. Will definitely return for an encore!
Paid $13 for a dry half head of romaine lettuce, basically. Had to ask for more dressing just to make it palatable. What was with the dressing on the plate? Also, drinks overpriced and I am older than 6...would like names of drinks vs. Just pictures. Got tired of asking my waiter to explain the pictures. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
Very eclectic menu and we were a bit taken about. Good house salad. Seared tuna really good although the fries chick peas were odd. Very good pork sliders. Lovely decor.
Vaca and birthday celebration
Great food and ambiance!
Menu was sophisticated with appealing options, including shared small plates to start. Loved the Brussels Sprouts salad alternative. The cocktails lived up to their reputation - best Old Fashioned I've had in a long time. We chose this restaurant as a good place to take our food-conscious visitors staying downtown for a conference. It proved to be a great choice, conducive to good conversation, and no-pressure but attentive service.
Best tater tots and shrimp with grits ever
Food overpriced for what you get.
Food was good, over priced for Easter buffet
It was our first time at this restaurant. We came based on reviews and for some great cocktails. Unfortunately, their famous cocktail menu has only pictures but does not offer a description with ingredients of any of the cocktails which makes it difficult to order something that you’ve never tried before. The food was good, not great. The apple crostini for dessert was not good. The service was very good. Not going back.
We enjoyed our dinner at The Blue Hound, the service was great and the roasted Brussel Sprouts wee delicious. We had the Shrimp and Grits for our main entrée and loved that dish as well. We ordered the Corn Bread Madeline's because several reviewers said they were great but we though they were just ok, a little dry and very grainy. My Lemon Drop Martini was excellent. Overall a very nice experience.
Went here before Phoenix Suns game. Staff was super great in getting us in and out and delivered our appetizers when they were ready, not waiting for them all to be done at one time. Food was so good! Location great!
Our waitress was awesome - checked on us frequently! Cocktails were delicious and the best food item was the Shrimp & grits!
Our party of four were attending a conference at nearby Phoenix convention centre. This meal was on the final evening of our stay so everyone quite relaxed and ready for a good time. The restaurant was selected by one member of our party who had dined at the Blue Hound on the previous night. We had corn bread and roasted peppers for appetizers and enjoyed pasta dishes (3) with "protein" added and a quinoa bowl (1) for mains. The food was absolutely delicious. I thought the portions for the mains were small for a hungry person or average male. We washed down food with 2 bottles of Pino Grigio...very nice. Service was generally attentive but intermittently absent. For example, we indicated we wanted to see the dessert menu but 5 minutes later, the bill was delivered instead. Prior to this visit, I had only had drinks and appetizers at the Blue Hound (2-3 years previously) and had favourably experience. Prices are a little high with upcharges for protein, bread, etc. but not unexpected for downtown location close to arena, ball park and convention centre. Recommended for business traveller or for a special occasion.
We went to the Blue Hound for their deviled eggs, but we were disappointed to find that they now only make them for special events? How can you stop making something that is so special that you bring friends there to try it?? Needless to say, the friends we brought to try them didn't get to, and those of us that came back for them were disappointed as well. Food was good as usual, but I won't go out of my way to go back since they no longer serve the dish that made them special.
This was my first time back to Blue Hound in about two years. Everything about our visit (a business dinner with a job candidate) was terrific, particularly the service--flawless. I was a tad disappointed with a couple of dishes, though. First, I was really sad to see that the biscuits with bacon jam were not on the starters menu any more. *sob* Second, we ordered the fried green tomatoes because our job candidate had never eaten them before. I was hesitant, if only because I grew up in the South and am pretty picky about that dish. These were just ok, and honestly, for $16, they were not up to snuff. The tomato slices were tiny--about the size of a silver dollar--and would have been pretty forgettable if not for the remoulade accompanying them.
The shishito peppers, however, were outstanding and at $9, a fair price. We also had the bone marrow starter (also $16), which is utterly delicious but not really the right size for three people to share. Two people, sure, and I'll order them again.
For our mains, we had two orders of the trout and the flat-iron steak. All were cooked perfectly and plated very nicely. The cherries that accompanied my steak really made the dish (one of my dinner partners kept asking me for another).
We finished by sharing a slice of the pineapple upside down cake. I loved it. Moist, not too sweet, light rather than dense. It was the perfect finish to the meal.
The total for our dinner, not including alcohol or tip, was $145. That's steep for three people, but if you're looking for a place to go for a special occasion, Blue Hound Kitchen should be an option.
We had a reservation for 6 for a special occasion and half our party didn't arrive but the server was extremely understanding, professional, and kind. I've been to blue hound many times and plan to visit many more. The food and craft cocktails are always outstanding!! It's a beautiful upscale little restaurant.
Enjoyed dinner before a game at Talking Stick Arena. Nice place, across the street from Talking Stick. Would definitely go back,
This place was amazing. The service was excellent along with the food. I love the cocktail menu. You can pick a drink by the “genre” allowing the bartender to provide you with a craft cocktail that may surprise you. Our table loved all of our drinks. I can’t recommend this place enough!
Great food and hand crafted cocktails! Fun place for happy hour or dinner.
Have never been to the Blue Hound before and really liked it. Hope to go back
Conveniently located in nice huge space. Menu selections have very good combinations of ingredients. Could use some refinements such as water without ice and some bread or starch to start.
Annie was our server and was fantastic. She spent additional time to get my dad's cocktail just they way he likes it! All of the food came out perfectly and was very good. Annie was always there at the right time. Thanks for a fun lunch with my husband, parents, and uncle!
Delicious and relaxing
We are foodies who have lived inphx for 20 yrs..u have good but not great food
A great spot! The bar is fantastic with creative cocktails and top notch bartenders. The special bar menu is delicious--try the mac & cheese! Dinner was superb as well, a creative yet approachable menu in a cozy and fun dining room with outdoor patio seating as well. We will certainly return next time we are in Phoenix!
I think someone forgot to put salt on the fried green tomatoes, but everything else was SPECTACULARLY good. From the entrees to the cocktails to the service, I would definitely recommend this place and will be back.
Ladies night and it was fabulous
The restaurant is beautiful, like really beautiful, and service was ok.
We were very disappointed by the food. We ordered 4 small plates to share; everything was ok but, but too standard.
The wine list is very short
Loved the warm atmosphere and the quiet ambiance that allowed ease of conversation. One of the best old fashion cocktails that I've had and loved!! the shrimp and grits. Good food and good ambiance. Will recommend to others.
Overall very good. It is pretty noisy, but we got a lovely table in the corner by the patio that was quieter. Great food and excellent service. Two appetizers were enough for dinner for us. Will go again.
We had a variety of appetizers and salads, and shared. We would really recommend the cauliflower and beat salad. It was a great night out!
A bit loud for me, but I’m older and have a hard time hearing my companion. Fun atmosphere for someone who wouldn’t have this issue. Or...great place to take that person you don’t want to listen to anyway :)
Turkey burger was wonderful! Really nice view by the window
Everything we tasted was delicious, good portion sizes, and our server, Kevin, was excellent! Would definitely recommend, but be prepared to drop a ton of cash
