Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails Ratings and Reviews
I was disappointed. Have been there several times before and loved it.
They were out of a drink I ordered them out of the wine I chose.
No excuse for this. Obviously need a new person ordering stock!
Food was marginal. The mussels we ordered were minuscule.
Will be a long time before I return, if ever.
The noise in the bar was deafening but in the dining room we were just able to hear each other. Two of the four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals (shrimp and grits, and pork shank), but the third had ordered the chicken, which was dry and tasteless, and the fourth had ordered the pasta with vegetables, which had a strange flavor and was full of large flaccid mushrooms. But hey, the cocktails were delicious.
I love when I’m traveling and I find a gem. This is a gem. I ate dinner at the bar. Phil the bartender was like a private food and drink concierge for me. He found out everything I liked in a cocktail and crafted THE PERFECT drink gin and tonic with a rye gin, and then he steered me toward the exquisitely dark cherry (not cloying) steak entree and the best pairing of wine. They have every whiskey, gin and vodka known to humankind and they know how to mix them. And Patrick at the bar isn’t just a chick magnet. He can mix as well. Great find. Yay me.
Great Restaurant @ Cityscape area -I rarely go downtown and was pleasantly surprised by Blue Hound – great choice if you’re going to the Arena or Cityscape – service and food were excellent and I would consider staying at the Hotel and exploring the City next time.
The food was excellent. Had the Catfish which was 5 stars. Started with the Fried Green tomatoes and fresh crab. The tomatoes could have used more flavor (i personally like a lil more cajun pepper blend to the cornmeal batter) -1/2 🌟 and the Crab was cold (as it was suppose to bei assume) however It was unexpected and not explained on the menu or by the server nor did i think to ask. -1/2 🌟. Also on the table was the brussel sprouts which I heatd was amazing along with the Salmon and green bean dinner. Would for sure come back and enjoy the atmosphere. True rating would be a 4.5 out of 5 with a -.25 for each deduction. Hope this review helps!
Christmas supper while we stayed at the hotel. The food was fantastic!!! Our server was so friendly, we really had an amazing time! We had the deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, daily bread, bbq sliders, flat iron steak and maple roasted chicken, all amazing and chocolate bar dessert! Would recommend all!
Was interesting sat next to a psychotic ex az state basketball player He was a bit off and had many issues. Ended up scaring Me and others with a semi turrets outburst. Brought this to his attention and was cognizant and yet oblivious. I left because I didn’t feel comfortable around him
For my birthday, we decided to try a new place. We had heard about the Blue Hound Kitchen and decided to go there. First, it was difficult to find so we finally found a group of people who were headed there and followed them. Secondly, we noticed the menu listed more alcoholic beverages then it did food. This place is apparently known for their fantastic cocktails which we may have tried at another time but we stuck with beer and wine. Next, the food we ordered was good but heavy fare. Neither of us could finish our entrees of homemade pasta and pork shank. We tried the highly advertised deviled eggs which were fine but nothing too exciting. Lastly our waiter was great, high energy and very accommodating but he was slammed with large groups of people requesting a lot of his time. We were a bit overlooked. We may go back but will stick to what they do best-- make some interesting cocktails.
This place has a nice atmosphere and good beer and wine selection. The food was excellent and our server, Kevin, was friendly and efficient. It seemed quite busy on the Thursday night we were there so I'd recommend making a reservation. A highlight of our stay in downtown Phoenix.
I love this place. Having been several times, I feel comfortable saying they always have a diverse menu from vegetarian selections to comfort fall food to steak options. You can get several small dishes and share with your friends if you like. Their cocktails are varied and tasty. The service is good - but can feel a bit rushed when they are busy. They can get u in and out to catch a show if needed! I'll be back- with friends !
Our server Kevin was very good but unfortunately we were seated at 5:45pm and finally received our dinners at 6:50pm, 2 of the 4 brisket sliders had large chunks of fat in them, and the pasta was under cooked to the point of not being edible - although the sausage filling was very tasty. The server offered to remove the pasta from our bill and the manager came by our table to apologize. This was our 4th time to the restaurant pre-Phoenix Symphony and our previous experiences were all significantly better.
Mixologist top notch. Server attentive. Apps tasty overall, but brussel sprouts were excessively salty. Blackened Salmon was wonderful. Down side was ambiance and was situational. We were told that Kimpton Hotel Palomar closed off restaurant patio to dining guests for local dignitary, their family and friends. Thus making our window seats to see the annual Christmas tree lighting worthless.
This is our favorite restaurant in Phoenix. The food is incredible and the drinks are amazing. It's my favorite patio to sit on. But the service here is what keeps me coming back. We celebrated our anniversary late this year so we could see a concert downtown. They went above and beyond with the service and meeting the night special. It was incredible, thank you.
Everything was just great. But mostly the top-notch service by our waiter Kevin was delightful. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was warm, yet modern that didn't feel overtly pretentious. The also made my wife feel special on her birthday which was a nice touch. We will be going back there many times.
My friend & I went before a show @ Comercia and sat at the bar. The food & service
was great. I would highly recommend the fried green tomatoes...yummy!!!
We also had the flat bread which was perfect to split for a light meal. Every thing was fresh and temperature hot.
I remembered having a ameretto sour here that was delish some months ago. I ordered that immediately and greatly enjoyed it again! Tried the shrimp and grits which was not disappointing. My son had the pork and raved about it. We sat behind the curtain by the window, but it was still very loud and difficult to converse above the bar noise. Very busy place, but we enjoyed it.
