Both hostesses were totally rude. To multiple people....I got to see because we could not be seated "until [our] reservation time exactly" whichcame and went and we waited an additional 15 min past that time. Normally I would be like NBD, they're busy...etc. Turns out nope. At least 2/3rds of the tables were empty. Just ubsurd.
The food was delicious! Just really really really good. But part of the premium of a $50 steak is the service and it just wasn't there. Example: split a salad. They brought the huge plate of salad and set it in the middle with no plates to split it....uh...? Shame. No warmth from anyone on staff except the bartenders....hah.
My wife and arrived 6 minutes late for our reservation, which I immediately communicated to the front desk via text message. I apologized to the hostess while checking in but she didn’t respond and seemed annoyed. She sat us at the 2-top closest to the kitchen and I asked her if it was possible to sit at any of the other THREE 2-tops next to us that were open and she simply said no. Based off of her short response to a seemingly feasible request, I assumed the restaurant was completely booked and I actually thought that we were lucky to even have a table. Long story short, we sat right next to a very loud kitchen and not ONE of the other THREE 2-tops were occupied the entire hour that we were there.
Food was excellent but there’s a lot of other eating options in the area and unfortunately all it takes is one very rude and unhappy hostess to drive away business.
Phenomenal service, great ambience.
Our waitress was not very helpful on describing the menu items or wine selections. The room is very noisy. The mixed green salad was huge. We could have split the salad instead of wasting it. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Very pricey for what you get.
Hair in my wife’s food coupled with a surly hostess made for a not so enjoyable meal.
One visit will be enough.
Excellent all around. Great chef and crew - tomahawk was great. Pastry chef - amazing, dirty Chai pot de creme was amazing. Great cocktail (machinist), and lovely service
Loved the atmosphere. Very relaxing. It's on the second floor and overlooks cityscape. Way too expensive but we had a nice time. Did everything. Cocktails, steak and desert.
I loved the whole experience!
Bryan was terrific. Good guidance through the menu. Steaks, mushrooms and pecan pie were outstanding. The house special Old Fashioned was great. A big thanks for allowing us to choose our table. Always a wonderful experience. One of our favorite restaurants in the Phoenix area.
I searched for a restaurant near the Symphony Center and found what looked to be a fun, new place. We we not disappointed. The cocktails were outstanding (shout out to our bartender, she’s the real deal) and the food was so delicious. We ordered lots of the appetizers, salad and 1 entree for 3 of us and we loved everything. We will definitely return.
Great ambience, location and service. Fantastic vegetarian options, blue hound salad and caramelized cauliflowers were unique and tasty
Overall I’d say me and my date had a great time dining at the blue hound. Food and service were quick and we will definitely return soon.
Fantastic cocktails. Good meal. Server was great. Meal was probably not worth $200 for two people before tip though. The bar is definitely the strongest point of the Blue Hound.
Our second visit. We had the cob salad, salmon and roast chicken. All excellent. Cooked and or prepared perfectly. Several large groups so a bit noisy but tolerable. Service was fine. Will definitely plan another visit. Park below ground and have your ticket stamped by Blue Hound.
Have been dining at the Blue Hound for two years. Love the ever evolving menu.....not to mention the great bar.
Excellent place near Cityscape, Talking Sticks and Chase stadium. Easy walk if staying in downtown hotel. Bar has good drinks and food is good. The tuna tartare appetizer was OK and same with the Chorizo and papers. Steak was cooked rare properly. Good for a dinner and drink if staying downtown or coming down for an event.
Food and service was very good. Menu items we tried were: ribeye steak, spinach brûlée, tomahawk chop, beet salad, caramelized cauliflower entree and pecan pie. The steak was ordered medium rare and came rare (wasn't even warm in the center) - but the server corrected it happily and we enjoyed it. Our server, Clayton, was very good. Friendly without being overly familiar and knowledgeable about the menu items when questioned about them. I would recommend and would return.
Food was great, but we had a reservation on open table and didn't get seated until 40 min. later. Plan on a long wait regardless of your reservation.
Had reservations yet took a bit to get seated they were out of beers and menu options not much to pick from
Wonderful environment, service, and food. We will be back!
Amazing food, life changing old fashions, worthit everytime. Never been disappointed. 100% recommend trying.
One of my favorite venues downtown. It is suitable for either business lunches or dinner with friends. The decor is modern and cozy. The service is always outstanding. The food presentation is excellent. The menu changes often, which is good and bad. You love a certain dish or cocktail that may not be available next time, causing temporary disappointment. But there always seems to be something new and good you discover. Dinner is pricey, but you get what you pay for. Blue Hound is worth the price.
Had a lovely team dinner here. Everyone’s food was delicious and the service was great. Will be coming back again for sure.
We had another great experience at Blue Hound Kitchen and Cocktails. Our server this time was exceptionally fun and friendly and the salmon and steak were outstanding. This is by far our favorite downtown Phoenix restaurant.
After some confusion with the hostess giving away our reserved table, the manager, hostess and servers were phenomenal to make their mistake right. They were kind, treated us with respect and listened as we told the story of our engagement that morning. It was a special night. Food was fantastic and the staff were amazing! Thank you!!
Our waiter Clayton was knowledgeable and attentive.
Came in on New Year’s Day, had a great old fashioned, broccoli, and New York bone in. My friend had the Mac and cheese and fries and left the plate clean. Can’t remember our servers name but she was super chill and patient with us (I tend to talk a lot and forget to look at the menu). My friend Jimmy recommended this place since he used to work there and it did not disappoint!
Absolutely amazing NYE Dinner the poached halibut was out of this world as was the yams, tart and carrot cake,
We had a wonderful experience for New Year's Eve - the lamb stroganoff was amazing as was the yellowtail and the carrot cake. Love the atmosphere and the service was spot on.
Christmas Day dinner with the family during their Christmas ‘Miracle’ pop up. It was wonderful and we’ll come back next year if they do it again!
We were disappointed by the special meal. It came 5 minutes after we ordered it which seemed like it was just being served out of a steam table. Drinks were very expensive.
Nostalgic Christmas decor with holiday ambiance that proved to be delightful. While the food and drinks were above average, not excellent. Service was acceptable, though we found ourselves between shifts. Interesting lunch menu, though somewhat limited. Emphasis is on the cocktails. Will try again when downtown . . . probably, great stop prior to a sporting event!
The bartender (young lady) made an excellent drink. The waiter was very good and attentive. We will certainly return.
Quaint, good cocktails, atmosphere service and views. Chill, but fun.
Was not an entirely bad experience, but we won't be going again. Were not set up to handle our request for seating with a wheelchair (we provided several days advanced notice). One manager basically said we were out of luck with the seating situation, but got another manager who graciously found us another table. Burger looked good. Fries were excellent. Squash apple soup was good. Braised short rib special for the holiday was okay, but not great. Coffee was not hot. Desserts were good, but very small, especially for sharing. It was Christmas Day and I think overall we were disappointed.
Cute Christmas decorations but not a place I'd go back to because of the food. Nothing we ordered was great, maybe the fries but that's hard to mess up
We did the Miracle Bar and Christmas eats - awesome lamb and tasty drinks all around!
Didn’t like the brunch menu and website didn’t say that’s all that is served on weekends.
I'll give you the pros 1st period our entire party agreed that the food was excellent. Our service was also pretty good, the audience was e Excellent and very festive. Pros were as follows , We went specifically for the drinks not knowing there would be a very limited selection available. We enjoyed what we shows it just would have been nice to not have to settle. Also it took about 20 minutes or more to get our drinks once we placed the order. That was a little bit frustrating. Another thing that was kind of discouraging was when the host is satisfied our table I and asked if we could have one of the to available tables that were by the window as to enjoy the view, we were told we weren't allowed because they were reserved for other people however 1 of the tables were never seated and stayed open for the entire 3 hours we were there. I really hate when restaurants refused to seat Per your request and then the table and up not being occupied at all. Anyway, we will go back again for the miracle season but we will also go back one they bring back their full drink and dinner menu. By the way the pork chop was outstanding and was probably the best thing on the menu that evening!
We've eaten here before during the holiday season, and the best part of it is watching the ice skaters below while we dine, so make sure if the rink is open that you ask for a table with a view of the rink. The food is consistent, and the wait staff attentive.
