Overall this place was amazing! My wife and I had a better experience here than at a 3 Michelin star restaurant. When we walked in we were greeted by name by Grace and since we were celebrating our anniversary they poured us a glass of champagne. Our table wasn't ready, and they did offer a different table, but we were okay with the wait. While waiting Cole greeted us and talked with him about what was in store for us with our meal. When we were seated, we were greeted by Taylor who explained options and was also very fun to talk with. The food was excellent. the ingredients were all in season. Many times through out the course we were brought back to things we had eaten in our lives and remembering how delicious they were. The strawberries tasted so good like you grew them at home and picked them off the vine. The bread was very flavorful and extremely unique. The fact that they can make a bread with 100% whole wheat and for it to taste so delicious is a treat. I encourage everyone to come here. Try the food and appreciate what they have to offer. They are doing things in the city that not other restaurants are doing. Overall we can not be thankful enough for Blue Hill and making our night so special. It was great and I hope this review will encourage more people to try this as well.
Beyond my expectations on all levels. A standout experience!
Fantastic experience! Exceptional service and expertly crafted cuisine!
Cole was amazing and saved our experience. Our waiter provided us a different experience based on what was observed from our tables to the left and right. Perhaps look at not splitting up sections...
Amazing food with amazing service.
Wonderful food, an evening out of the ordinary!
The staff was incredibly accommodating and understanding
Linda and I were celebrating Linda's Birthday. The minute we walked into Blue Hill, we knew we were in for a special evening. We were nicely greeted, we had a drink at the bar, were escorted to our table at the precise minute of our reservation. We ordered the 7 course tasting meal, we were accommodated with Linda's pescetarians wishes and we were extremely happy with our dinner. The wine selection we made was terrific. The wate staff was professional, yet very personable.
Our overall dining experience at Blue Hill was exceptional.
We celebrated my fiancé’s birthday dinner here and it was truly the most incredible experience with both the food itself(we did the extended farmers feast) and the service. We were in complete awe and had the best time!!
A memorable meal. Full of diversity and surprise. The meal was culinary artwork.
Amazing food,and very kind staff!
This is a very special place for foodies. Be sure to look at their menu before you go. It is probably not for everyone but my husband and I loved it. They serve very fresh and creatively prepared and presented food. We chose from the daily menu of four courses where you get a choice of two or three selections. It is easy to share so it is good to choose one of each selection in each course. Though the portions are small it is substantial enough to be filling.
The first course had snap peas which were incredibly delicious. My husband had the asparagus that was also wonderful. At this point they served a whole grain bread that was not only warm but had a crispy crust. It was delicious with the soft butter mixed with scrumptious seeds. For the second course I chose pullet egg, very fresh and tasty and my husband had the butter fish. It was a firm fish and not at all fishy tasting. The third course had three choices: I had the "pig" which was very good and served rare. My husband had lamb which was also good and served medium rare. There third choice which we did not select was vegetable lasagna which I am sure would have been great. There was no choice for dessert. It was a strawberry concoction in a light cloud of something meringue-like. The dinner was a great experience with great service. Our server, Mary was friendly, efficient and very informed.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Blue Hill. I ordered the Farmer's Feast and I was not disappointed. It was a treat in so many ways - amazing food, delightfully presented and kindly explained. I have recommended it to everyone living in NYC or that travels there.
We went there for our wedding night and we could not have made a better choice! They offered us a complimentary glass of champagne as we came in. AlI of the staff knew we had just been married and made a point to congratulate us. It was quiet and warm. The food was amazingly delicious, but not ridiculously rich as some Michelin Star restaurants can be. The sommelier was adorable and charming. He even gave us a tour of the tiny, but amazingly well run kitchen. The staff all cheered for our wedding day and the chef shook both of our hands. It was not just a terrific restaurant with amazing food, but an experience my husband and I will never forget. Thank you Blue Hill!!!
Loved every second of it.
Exquisitely prepared food. Inventive. Very attentive staff. Will be back.
This place is amazing. The fact that the chefs can take such common base ingredients and enhance them to make each bite memorable is quite impressive.
We always make a stop here when we're in town. Blue Hill is one of the best restaurants in the city. We sat at the bar this time and had the loveliest conversation with the bar tender. Food was spectacular as always.
The service was absolutely lovely and the cocktails were fantastic too.
From start to finish one of the best meals i've had. Service was on point, and the vegetable driven menu, was exciting, and not over satiating.
Incredible menu, servers so helpful, enthusiastic, and informative. A meal worthy of it's price tag
Our dinner at Blue hill was perfect. Everything that came out of the kitchen was excellent. the service is perfect!
Celebrated a friend’s birthday at Blue Hill. Excellent food with even a better staff! Looking forward to going back.
100% would recomend, it's very expensive but perfect for a special occasion.
Everything was outstanding from the moment we walked in the front door. The food was excellent and I would have given the service 10 stars if I could have. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I loved everything I was served, but noticed the couple next to us received additional courses that we did not. We left feeling short-changed.
Was bit too salty overall
Truly magnificent dining experience. Outperformed the high expectations we had and will be a meal we talk about for years
Me encanto todo una delicia y muy buena atención
The service was extraordinary and the food very good. We spent a wonderfull evening.
A beautiful experience. Gorgeous ingredients skillfully and thoughtfully celebrated, presented by lovely staff. We felt very well looked-after.
The beverage director who acted as the mâitre D was so awful to us. We came to celebrate my sons graduation - aunt who can barely walk from San Diego, grandmother from LA, cousins and brother and parents from Colorado and Texas. We have all wanted to come to Blue Hill for years, being dedicated local and conscious eaters. We asked for our two tables of four to be next to each other and it was is if there was a conscious effort made to keep us apart. We asked to be together, a table was freed up within 20 minutes of us being seated. We had not eaten anything and asked if we could move to that table. This man lied outright to us saying a regular had requested that table. It sat free for an hour and a half and the people who sat down had never dined there before. We spent well over $1,000 for 8 of us. We have been saving for this splurge for years but our patronage was a mere trifle to them.
The kitchen did accommodate a vegan diet in a beautiful way. The servers lack of interest in making any accommodation was just such a disappointment. It was so upsetting to be lied to and to be treated so disdainfully.
Creative food for the most part. The experience made you love veggi. The set menu takes over 2 and half hours. A bit long for the second seating that starts at 9pm.
The ambience was pleasant. Yet, toward the end of the meal around 11, the dining place was interrupted by constant restaurant workers who move large crate of ingredients into restaurant for next day. They literarily walked right through many tables full of restaurant guests. Thought I saw a leg of a pig. Quite unexpected experience.
Every time I eat here it’s the best meal I’ve ever had
Absolutely divine food and service. I have been wanting to come here for a very long time and it exceeded my expectations. Beautiful setting, busy but not overcrowded, the food was wonderful and the wine matching was perfect. The amuse-bouches were as fine as I had anywhere and were a massive part of the meals success. I thought the dessert dishes were the weakest element of the meal but to be fair I have a more savoury palate.
Very fresh cuisine but very simple without much imagination. Clearly farm sourced so concept respected. However nothing which evokes the wow factor. Service lacking correct form compared to level we expect in Europe. However staff very nice. Always too noisy in US restaurants and this was again the case. Good choice of wines though.
Amazing experience. Truly innovative cuisine with the freshest, flavorful ingredients. Blue Hill is an absolute must if you are in Manhattan!
A disappointing evening, we expected something mindblowing given the star but got decent. The first 2 dishes were amazing! The combination of flavors was great. Also the bread and butter, loved it.
But for the next course we both chose the beef. It looked nice, the flavor was okay, but it was not tender at all. One part was so chewy, my girlfriend had to spit it out because she was not able to swallow it...
The desert was strawberries with some white chocolate mousse, very basic, however not special at all.
So, unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this place. If you pay so much money you'd expect everything is perfect and to experience new flavors. It was decent but not worth the amount of money we had to pay at the end.
