Not that my expectations weren't high, but this dinner still blew them away. The food was outstanding, and the service was very personable and approachable. The staff was clearly passionate about the vision of the restaurant, and they really impressed upon us that despite Dan Barber being a celebrity chef, he is still very much involved in the restaurant and is on sight weekly. I am really hoping to come back in the peak of the season for another outstanding meal.
Don’t get me wrong the food was good. Was it great? Was it worth the money? No. It was a bit disappointing and we were really looking forward to the experience. But there was none.
The food is amazing at Blue Hill but the service was seriously lacking for a restaurant of that quality and price. Our server didn’t walk us through any of the dishes or wine, while we saw other tables getting a much better experience. This is disappointing given that providence is the main thing at Blue Hill, and their story is so interesting. I have a nut allergy which we discussed at length and I still received a dish with almonds. The red wine was served straight from the fridge. Ice cold and we werent even shown the bottles, which I now understand are specially done by artists for the restaurant. Really disappointing experience, I’d been wanted to go for years.
Everything was great! This is other type of food, it taste more REAL, it TASTE like grandma’s food but with the touch of a genius like Dan Barber it’s like normal food but on steroids.
So happy we came. In a couple of days a will go for lunch to the other restaurant at Stone Barn, i will let you know how it was.
Blue Hill is a must in New York
An amazing dining experience that I will not soon forget. Staff was every bit as impressive as the food (which was other-worldly).
Excellent food and mixed drinks. Outstanding French service. Knowledgeable staff. A +
The food was so fresh. The environment was elegant. I would definately come back
Overall, wonderful experience.
The wine pairing was interesting and one of a kind wines
Absolutely amazing experience for my fiancé’s birthday. We did the extended tasting menu with the wine pairing to match. Our servers were extremely knowledgeable and the pace of courses was done well. Would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates a chef tasting menu and is willing to be adventurous!
Awesome experience, such a well thought out presentation. Engage in all the staff as they have tidbits of knowledge on all the foods and where they came from. Chef Barber is a visionary
From the moment we arrived till the moment we left we were treated with the best service and hospitality! Everyone from the hostess to our servers were genuinely friendly. The best part though was the food and the drinks! At one point my girlfriend shed a tear at how delicious her plate was, true story! Blue hill made my girlfriend’s birthday truly memorable! Thank you
I cannot believe it took me so long to finally have this experience! What a great evening. If you go with no previous information you’ll be so surprised at how awesome the tastes, textures and quality of the ingredients and the preparation. And the wine list is formidable but not intimidating, excellent Somme.
Absolutely amazing! Long awaited trip to chef Dan Barber's Blue hill. Notably amazing service from cole, John and the entire staff. So much thought behind every single bite on Chef Dan's menu. Dan's staff is incredibly knowledgable and driven for excellence. Will certainly be back!
Unbelievable food and service! We can’t wait to go back next time we go to NYC.
Very interesting and unique!
This is a special restaurant with top-notch service, creative cooking and beautiful presentations. It's a limited price-fixed meal with options, and they are happy to accommodate all diets and preferences. They also serve a number of different items to taste before the meal even begins. The only thing that wasn't great was that it got very noisy (low ceilings) and it is a long meal. For that reason, we may not return, even though it was a great experience. If you don't mind the noise, it is worth going.
What a wonderful dining experience! We opted for the Farmer's Feast menu, which consisted of 8 absolutely amazing dishes. Also, my wife is pescatarian, and they happily accomodated with creative alternatives on the menu. The chef's creativity in combining ingredients and flavors is magnificent. Service was excellent, friendly, and non-intrusive. We were also able to pair a nice wine from their extensive wine list. And the price for such an amazing meal was well below what one would expect for a top shelf restaurant in Manhattan. Highly recommended!
The food was very good however I prefer their spring and summer menu. The complexity and variety of produce are lower which is understandable, however for that price I prefer to taste their spring menu.
Blue Hill is a relatively small restaurant in Greenwich village, which gives it a very cosy feel. The decor is very refined, service is friendly but impeccable, and the food is fabulous. Definitely a place you don't want to miss! Just make sure you reserve well ahead.
Couldn’t possibly come to New York without dining at Blue Hill- I’d seen the episode of Chef’s Table about it and fallen in love. The real experience lived up to every expectation, a completely incredible meal.
Delicious food,wonderful service, amazing principals.
I had an amazing time with my friends. The food was delicious and so fresh. We were a few minutes late but they were so accommodating. We weren't rushed and had servers who were very attentive.
Amazing , i loved every single moment
Food: fresh ingredients; not much to the preparation; uninteresting; unmemorable; very accomodating to personal ingredient requirements.
Service: very good, responsive.
Physical premises: low ceiling; contemporary French feel; glassware tops.
Patrons: bland, not good looking or energizing.
Value proposition: reasonably priced.
Bottom line: boring place for boring people
This restaurant definitely lived up to the hype... Had the farmer's feast and every course was an absolute delight!
The food experience was incredible. The only drawback was how rushed the service was. It almost seemed like we couldn’t fully enjoy the course before there was hovering in the background to bring out the next course. It would’ve also been nicer if the explanation for each course was a bit slower. At one point of time my sister had to go to the restroom and they served a course that could’ve waited another two minutes to be served as it was a flaming herb wrapped bean course that smelt wonderful when it first came out. I think my sister would’ve enjoyed that course a lot more if she had been there when it was served at the table. The food was really flavorful and the wine pairing was spot on. However the service could be better
Amazing farm-to-table menu with best service I have every experienced.
Amazing restaurant. Very fresh food and many unique dishes
Excellent and gracious service from the moment we entered the restaurant. Can’t be more impressed or satisfied with our experience. Food and wine pairings were everything we expected and then some.
We enjoyed the soothing atmosphere and really fine service of Blue Hill NYC, however most of the food did not wow us.
We did opt for tasting menu and wine pairings. Everything was beautifully presented but except for one or two items, food was very ordinary. Our last ‘treat’ of the evening was a cored honey crisp apple....
After the meal here, I no longer long for a reservation at the Farm.
Gorgeous in every way
Just a terrific restaurant overall. Really creative chef and a reasonable price
Just amazing. The staff was kind and welcoming. The food was beyond good and incredibly creative. Everyone was so knowledgeable.
INCREDIBLE food, excellent service and a perfect dinner overall. We cannot wait to come back
Everything was wonderful. All my dishes were very tasteful and well presented. My wife’s menu had a couple of options we didn’t fully like but other than that is a great restaurant. Would recommend for a quiet evening
Birthday for my husband and sister in law
One of my best dinners in NY
A fantastic meal in a restaurant we’ve heard so much about!
We greatly enjoyed our meal at Blue Hill. Allie was a great server, as well as the rest of the staff who were very attentive. The food was very good, not life changing, but every course was solid. It's not inexpensive, but as this type of tasting menu goes in NYC it's well priced. We left feeling full but not bloated after the "Farm Feast" We were seated in the back garden room, which we preferred as the main dining room seemed a bit more crammed and noisy.
