Some of the best food I've ever had and definitely the most memorable meal I've ever had. The staff were also exceptional. Thank you so much.
Too much innovation and detail, too little flavor result. Old fashioned is not always bad.
Food is a great combination of playful innovations and delicate mix of flavors and textures. Our waitress Katelyn is fantastic. A great place for special dates.
This was probably the best meal I’ve ever had, including having lived in NYC for 6 years now. We both did the tasting menu and each dish was so unique and different from the rest, unlike anything I’ve ever had. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a memorable meal.
Our first time here, absolutley loved it. Every staff member went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience from beginning to end. From local recommendations to complimentary digestive, every aspect of the meal was perfect. Not to mention the mind blowing components of every dish. We highly recommend the farmers feast tasting menu. We will definitely be back next year!
Always inventive, michelin star quality food and service. Super inventive ingredients and presentations, excellent wine pairings and knowledgable staff. We did the regular 4 course tasting menu instead of the 6 course one and it was completely satisfying and interesting/engaging from start to end!
Amazing food and ambience. It was really really really nice!
Service, food and atmosphere was all wonderful
Amazing food, perfect ambience tarnished by snooty hostess.
Although expensive, this is a meal that is worth every penny. My wife and I asked for the tasting menu made vegetarian and it was quite possibly the best restaurant meal either of us had. It's cliche, but what they say in Chef's Table is correct, the vegetables taste like what they are meant to taste like.
Fantastic experience
My husband and I had a very nice dinner at the Blue Hill. The ambiance was cozy, the service excellent, and most of the courses were 5 stars. The broccoli salad made with parboiled broccoli, goat cheese, horseradish dressing and smoked grapes was very clean-looking and cleverly conceived.
Next dish was the fresh farm egg with Napa cabbage, also delicious. We had the lamb entree, a high quality dish with lamb from Pennsylvania I believe. The dessert quince and ice cream, light and a good choice after the other three courses.
This was our first visit and we both came away feeling that Blue Hill NY is one of the best restaurants we've ever experienced. Tucked away on a quiet, historic Greenwich Village street, the entrance is so low-key you might walk right by. But inside, we found ourselves in a world of gracious and friendly staff, an appealingly small layout (fewer than 60 diners total), and course after course of delicious, intensely flavorful and strictly seasonal food. Our meal came from one of two menus -- a six-course 'Farmer's Feast' or a four-course 'Tasting Menu. (The Farmers Feast is set; the Tasting Menu offers choices).
Blue Hill is a serious a farm-to-table venue, supplied mainly by two farms — Stone Barn Center in Westchester and their own Blue Hill Farm in Great Barrington, MA). The vegetables are incredible—prepared in memorable ways (tacos made of kohlrabi? unique beets? carrot steak?). Beef and pork dishes are part of the menu, though we opted out (the staff substituted more superb vegetables and — to our surprise and delight — as a result even slightly discounted the price of our meal.)
Of course, all this care, attention, and top-quality food comes with a substantial price tag. So yes, Blue Hill is a splurge, reserved for special events for most diners. But how often have you had the combination of wonderfully flavorful, memorable food presented by attentive, thoughtful servers in an extremely pleasant environment? We left feeling extremely grateful for this graceful, delicious experience.
This is a must visit restaurant every time we are in New York City. Everything is excellent and even the bread is something to get wonderfully excited about.
One of my best meals ever. Great ingredients, well prepared. Excellent service.
My dear friend and I were celebrating milestone birthdays with our hubbies. I've enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the bar at Blue Hill NYC before, which is why we went in person to make reservations way in advance. The four of us were seated in the Garden Room, an intimate, quiet space, located behind the kitchen. The food, service and wait staff were impeccable, but we were greatly distracted by the cobwebs hanging from the corners of the room, (unpleasantly lit from below with a metal clip light), and the inch or so of dust on top of the wainscoting. Also, a fellow diner, (too polite to complain, because she was on a date), jumped up from her table at the start of her meal when a very large insect ran over her foot. This is a wonderful top-notch restaurant, and I understand the need to seat guests in an overspill room, but please, give it a good cleaning, and make us feel as welcome as the guests in the main dining room!
Best restaurant experience so far! Thank you Blue Hill
Best night of my life
The original. Farm to table
Very good-as usual. The cocktails were not as good as the food. This is something they should improve.
we were in a couple and ordered different menus each to try more dishes and they were both amazing! The ambience light though was too dark to clearly appreciate food esthetics and the noise level depends on the neighbor tables since they’re too close to each other.
Cibo ottimo ha superato le aspettative!
Great meal at this one michelin star restaurant specializing in farm to table freshness. Went with additional chef’s tasting menu which includes 8 courses with a wine pairing for Mary. First course was a flamed beet tartare with the beet processed to look like beef. Followed with a cauliflower with maine crab, pear, and ginger. Third course was a must have squash pasta with jujube and cheddar broth followed by kohlrabi tacos with butterfish, beef salami, apricot sauce, and celery root. Monkfish, monkfish liver, and matusake mushrooms were next. The sixth course included carrot steak, grass fed veal, chanterelles, creamed spinach, and tallow bearnaise. The two dessert course were finger lake grapes and guince with farm milk and brown butter panna cota. Everything was prepared to perfection, expertly paired with the perfect wines and a 128 year old Sherry, and redefined for me how varied this style can be with planning. The entire meal was delicious and paced to perfection. Service, especially in regard to the entertaining and educated comments of our sommelier, was spot on. Overall, this is fine dining at it’s best.
Everything about Blue Hill is wonderful—the food, the staff, the warm welcome you receive as if you were the most important person in the world. .
Had a brilliant meal. Food was delicious and the quantities were perfect but it was the staff that really made it
Perfectly elevated farm to table, cozy, engaged and friendly staff and perfectly surprising flavors.
A wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly lovely and the kitchen prepared amazing food.
Just wonderful! Love the personal touches. The food was fantastic. Staff were well-coordinated, knowledgeable and attentive without being too intrusive.
Excellent food and service. My Swiss friend was very impressed.
Everything I hoped it would be. My husband and I went after our City Hall wedding, and they made it so special, with champagne and a sweet card, and amazing service. Loved everything about our experience. Especially awesome to do a tasting that is so vegetable-forward, so you don't feel overstuffed and unhappy after!
The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in. The food was everything we expected.. stunning. There are no words for the bread... and the restaurant, itself, was warm and inviting. Our whole experience was wonderful.
I’ve been waiting three years to have the opportunity to attend the restaurant and it did not disappoint. I went with my girlfriend for our anniversary and it was the greatest dining experience I’ve ever had. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous and charming. Our table was a little late and they gave us free champagne and cider for our wait.
The food was glorious and now we’re planning on hitting up the famous one in Tarrytown in a few months. Thank you Dan for making the best food in the state.
Had the farmer’s feast and it took 2 hours to get 4 courses. Felt like an eternity. Also the food was not so impressive or tasty as I was hoping. Very underwhelming.
Excellent service. Main course was lukewarm compared to other courses, but too quality nevertheless
Can’t be beat. Only wish I could’ve met Dan barber!
Dinner was fantastic! The service, the food, and the wine were all impeccable!
Truly well-deserving of its Michelin Star, Blue Hill exceeded all of our expectations!
I took my girlfriend to Blue Hill for her birthday and it was one of the best meals we both have ever had. We did the Farmer's Feast extended with the wine pairing and I would recommend this to anyone for a special occasion. It will be an experience that you will never forget!
Great server. Very relaxed evening. Low noise level so it was easy to talk.
Fantastic tasting menu at the bar with wine pairing. Obvious love for their food and craft, an outstanding experience from start to finish and a good way to celebrate finishing a marathon.
