blue grillhouse Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went out on a Friday night and chose Blue since we'd never been there. It was a great decision. Although it was a Friday evening it wasn't a packed house. The ambiance inside was very cool with nice, subtle lighting. Our server was great and very attentive, even recommending a dish when I was torn. The food was delicious and the drinks were great! I will definitely go back to Blue and recommend it others! I loved it!
We've been to The Blue several times, and absolutely love it. The food is great, and the service is terrific. The ambience is also wonderful - as long as you sit downstairs! We typically go for special occasions, went back for New Years Eve, and were seated upstairs for the first time - Ugh! There is more ambience inside a cardboard box than upstairs at the Blue. Sadly, we convinced friends to go with us who had never gone, and none of the ambience we promised was there. We were really disappointed we were not able to be seated downstairs. So - if you are going, and we recommend you do - make sure you are seated downstairs!
I had dinner with a new friend and was really delighted by the atmosphere and also the food was superb. I had the aged filet and was very happy of my choice because it was one of the best filets i have had to date. It was very cozy and had a good feel for a romantic dinner. Both my guest and myself would definitely refer your resteraunt to friends and family.
This is our fifth or sixth time at Blus and it does not disappoint. Good food, good ambiance and good service . Of course we were there on Christmas Eve so the energy was hectic and louder than usual. But that was to be expected and it did not detract from the overall pleasant experience.
We took our son to Blue for his 14th birthday and yes it was Christmas Eve so we can understand a busy night. We made reservations for 6:45 and were seated at 7:15 - understandable as it was a busy night. We ordered shortly after sitting and received our salad 45 minutes later. Dinners arrive almost an hour after that. My sons steak was ordered medium and it was very rare. We sent it back and it arrived - just as rare. I travel over a hundred nights a year and eat at restaurants across the country. Sometimes nights are crazy but I receive apologies of some sort. Our waitress was absent. We received not a single apology. Blue did not charge us for my son's and my wife's meals. An apology would have been welcome. We will not return.
Food was good and servers very efficient. Outside looked very festive, inside was open and nice looking. Then we were seated upstairs in a hotel/banquet type room. No windows or decorations just walls and tables. Also a drink that was ordered from menu was not available, would have preferred the server told me that as soon as I ordered. Would go again if I could sit in a better location.
We went for lunch and waited 1:45 for main course to arrive which was mainly sandwiches. Staff said it was do to a big party arriving just before us. Clearly they are not equipped to cover large parties and service other gusets at the same time. They had plenty of wait staff so clearly kitchen was overwelmed. This is simply poor management.
Normally I pop in for happy hour or the occasional brunch or lunch, but decided to have a celebration dinner here. Well worth the money. Every dish was excellent (and large portions - still eating on my meal two nights later), the drinks great, and the service on par. I prefer a booth, but on a busy night like Friday night, I can deal with a table.
Took our family out for my son's 35th birthday. Requested table in front of fireplace. We were given a lovely table near the fireplace to the side of the room; perfect spot for us to enjoy our meal and quiet conversation; felt like we had room to ourselves. Our waiter was very attentive as was the other waitstaff. Great food; fabulous special drinks. Complimentary dessert and champagne for birthday boy. We had a very memorable time here.
Went on a Friday night to celebrate an anniversary, not crowded. The fireplace was a nice touch that made the ambiance that much better and kept the chill out of the room. Our server was nice, friendly and personable. We started out with a bottle of Chianti recommended by our server. It was a delicious choice. We had the pumpkin ravioli special. It was to die for, I wished there was more. We ordered the 8oz and 10oz filet mignon; it was cooked perfectly. Our sides were lacking. The spinach with garlic was way too salty. The mashed potatoes were a little bland which is fine because I can always add pepper or salt or in our case the side of butter and herbs to it. Our favorite sauce was the béarnaise. We like the horseradish sauce too.
Date night to State Theatre in Easton. Very impressed. Saturday night prime rib was delicious. Braised short ribs were very moist and tender. The baby carrots that garnished my plate were perfect and the pearl onions were delicious. The grilled asparagus was prepared perfectly with grill taste but not being charred. Somehow we topped the meal off with a macadamia nut dessert for two (or four). Our waitress Jennifer was attentive and friendly and we never felt like we were being rushed out. Worth the dollars spent. We did enjoy a bottle of wine as well and it was the perfect temperature and they were attentive to refilling as we enjoyed our dining experience. Nice when ambiance, flavor and service are found outside "city limits."
New on the menu is a rotating selection of dry aged beef. Steak lovers will flip for the flavor and texture. I had the 24oz Porterhouse, medium. It arrived perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. A bit pricey ($55) and was offered only by the server as she ran through the specials. Well worth it for a great meal.
The Blue has a very hip and uptick ambiance about it, which is one of the things that brings me back. They recently completed a renovation on an outside patio and bar area with a large glass-enclosed gas fire place in the center of the patio, a large bar, televisions etc. It integrates beautifully into the inside bar and existing layout, without feeling "grafted on". Despite the mid-November date, there were about 20 people dining outside, so it must be comfortable. We ate inside in the main dining room, which has the feel of all the good steak houses - lots of dark wood and atmospheric lighting. My filet was flavorful; the Caesar salad fresh and tasty. One of the largest baked potatoes this side of Morton's, with all the trimmings.
My fiance and I went to dinner at blue for a special celebration. We started with a cocktail by the fireplace in the bar. Not only did a server wait on us, but another staff member also stopped by to make sure we were taken care of. We continued with dinner in the dining room, and everything from appetizer through dessert was phenomenal. We had such a wonderful experience, and would definitely recommend blue to anyone looking for a delicious dinner with a romantic ambience. We'd also definitely recommend the tuna tartar. It was delicious!! We will definitely be going back :)
We dined at the Blue for my husband's birthday. Though somewhat pricey, the food was outstanding! The tuna tartar has got to be the best I've ever tasted. I had the grilled salmon which was impecably prepared while my husband had a steak which was perfectly grilled. If you are going to order a vegetable side, I'd advise that you share it with someone as the portions are large. At the end of dinner, our server surprised my husband with a complementary glass of champagne!
Food were very fresh from appetizers to deserts. Our main entrees for our table of 4 were cooked to perfection and the service received was excellent. Since we ordered many appetizers including salads, our entrees arrived after we finished and the temperature of the food was hot . Only one small disappointment, my son and I wanted to order the Chilean Sea Bass however that was sold out for the evening. Otherwise, we had a very enjoyable meal and would recommend this restaurant to any foodies like ourselves.
Took my wife last week for our date night. The food was outstanding, especially the oysters which were fresh and presented as perfectly as can be done. A real treat. Waiter was outstanding with courteous service and a thorough understanding of the menu. Told him we wanted to take our time and he got everything just right. Had not been there for awhile and will definitely go back soon.
