When the weather is nice out at Blue Fish Grill in Flemington, New Jersey, most diners prefer to eat outside on the spacious patio. Each table has its own umbrella to keep the sun at bay. However, the interior at Blue Fish Grill is also very attractive with hardwood floors and linen tablecloths.
The food at Blue Fish Grill is up to par, too. As the owners and chefs were both trained by Wolfgang Puck, this should come as no surprise. Popular menu items include the grilled salmon teriyaki served with sweet Chinese mustard vinaigrette and the fish n chips, which can be served with either fries or actual chips.
We chose The Blue Fish Grill for a central meeting place for a luncheon reunion. We all enjoyed our meals. The server was really nice, too.
Kareem took excellent care of us and the food was great, as usual. Can't say enough about how much we enjoy BFG!
My wife and I have been to Blue Fish twice. This second time was as a group of 8. Everyone enjoyed the appetizers and their main dish. The Tokyo fish tacos are a standout. Also the Ahi wrap. Kareem was our waiter and he's a continuous riot. It's very reasonably priced and BYOB to boot. We are planning to return to try other menu items.
Love this place. Specials are always excellent but I always go back to the Big Fish Burrito.
I had fish & chips. A bit greasy but OK. My friend had a salad (no complaints) but I didn't ask what he thought of it. We both enjoyed the clam chowder very much. Waiter described their special burger that sounded great but we were there for fish. There weren't many diners when we went at lunch time so the waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable but also fun to talk with. BYO is always a plus to me. Very casual and spartan in atmosphere but who cares unless you're out to impress. Enough pluses to outweigh any minuses. I'd go back to test out the menu some more.
Great local spot
we always enjoy the bluefish...we take out of towners here and they always love it.
Always a great dining experience. Fresh food, creative menu and friendly service. Reasonably priced and love that it's a BYOB!
Casual restaurant with tasty flavorful food. I never had so many tentacles in calamari!
The service was friendly and competent. Don't forget to try the key lime pie.
Wish this restaurant were not so far way from where I live.
Always enjoy it here...could use a little more privacy as it can be a bit noisy and on top of each other...but the food is great and the service is excellent...
Just make sure to make reservations ahead of time, especially on the weekends. If it's after 2 pm on the day you want to dine, you'll have to call. It's BYOB, son ring your favorite beer or wine, with some fresh seafood and friendly service - it's a win all the way!
Fresh seafood grilled on a wood-fired grill. Very interesting appetizers and a solid menu overall. One of Flemington's best restaurants. The owners are wonderful and have developed their restaurant into a solid and consistent eatery.
Stopped here for lunch... friendly staff, great service, great food will definitely be back!
This was our second trip with very good experiences both times. Food is excellent. They really know fish. Crab cakes were some of the best I've ever had.
Consistently good food. Friendly staff. Would like to see more variety of sides and dip options for the menu selections. The ones they have are good, but if you go frequently it get's boring.
Limited range on the menu, but they add 1 or 2 new items (from 8 to 10 entrees) each day. Had the steamed mussels for an appetizer; unless you are categorically opposed to eating mussels, you should get them. They are GREAT at the Blue Fish Grill. Main course was a spicy wet burrito…satisfyingly huge, slightly spicy, and very tasty. Wine list is limited to New Jersey produced wines…non-toxic, but not great in any way and moderately expensive for the quality.
The food is always good here, and the servers are very helpful in explaining how the items on the menu are prepared. The wait staff is very attentive always refilling drinks and taking away plates when empty. Meals were delivered in a timely fashion and everyone enjoyed their dishes.
If you like seafood, try out this gem. Everyone in our family, kids and adults, love this restaurant.
This is our favorite place in Flemington. We usually get one of the fresh grilled fish with the Asian sauce. My tuna was done perfectly (medium rare) and his tilapia was not dried out and very flavorful. The side dishes are terrific, especially the home made potato chips, and they seem to always have asparagus on hand. We ate upstairs this time and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. There were no kids upstairs which suited us fine. The service was attentive and friendly. Will definitely return.
The Blue Fish Grill has been a "go-to" place for lunch and dinner as long as they have been around. Stacy and Kelly ensure that the quality and freshness of the food are at the highest level and make sure to vary the menu with frequent specials. The main courses are generous and the "sides" are great compliments to the flavor of the dish-as-a-whole. They continue to provide great support to local cultural activities and have really revitalized the old Stangl pottery manufactory in Flemington.
Blue Fish is my "go to" restaurant for a quick lunch with a friend or a special event with my family. On this occasion, I went with my sons, and daughter-in-laws to celebrate my birthday. We all decided to try something new that we'd never had before and, once again, we were not disappointed. Some of the new items we tried were the scallops, kale salad, pulled pork sandwich, plantain fries and arugula salad. I can't say enough about this restaurant. I have never, in all the years we've been going to Blue Fish (since they opened their doors at a different location) been disappointed. Highly recommend.
Consistently good food. Blackened shrimp tacos and gumbo were very good. Adding more non seafood items such as Korean BBQ, fried chicken. Good service, friendly staff.
I have been here a few times, but it was the first time for the friend I met for dinner. We ate upstairs, (first time for me) and I liked it better, quieter and a bit nicer. Jackson was a great waiter. We both ordered scallops and grilled pineapple. Simple and fresh, just what we wanted. My son's favorite when he goes is the fish taco, which he recommended we try. Maybe next time.
Bluefish is very busy, make a reservation so you can get some good eats. They are expanding and have a non seafood option on the specials. Everything was delicious.
Great night on the patio. Loved the calamari appetizer, and we stuck to the basics of grilled tuna and grilled tilapia for the main course. Can't beat the home made potato chips. Surprised they charged extra for a red sauce for the calamari - used to be standard. They've pumped up their specials with some exotic combinations, none of which sounded very appealing. We've been there many times and will continue to rank it among our favorite restaurants in Flemington. VERY glad they now accept reservations, but have to call before 2pm for that night.
Blue Fish is one of a handful of places that we consider top choices in our town. And now that they accept reservations, it's even more desirable because there's little or no wait. The food is always great, service excellent, it's a good value being very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this eatery!
Eat here once a week. Consistently great food. Fantastic mussels. Call ahead or you may have to wait.
Love the place. Always enjoyed the food and service. Go early as the place gets packed. Asked for quiet corner and it tends to get noisy. You won't be disappointed with the visit. Outdoor dining is open for the summer is a plus.
Consistently great food. BYOB. Casual, great with kids and adults. specials interesting. Love the crab cake sandwich.
On a Saturday night you need reservations. This place is not for a fine dinning experience. So if your looking for just good seafood and a little more than this is for you. In summer inside and outside seating. Most of their sauces for the fish have a little spice, it's served on the side so you can use as little or as much as you prefer which was a plus for me. They do carry wine but nothing else, you can bring your own bottle of wine or beer. We enjoyed our dinner so we will go back.
Just love this place. Real wood smoked food (we saw the guy chopping it outside!). BYOB or you can buy a bottle of local wine for a reasonable price. DELICIOUS entrées...I always get the shrimp, Asian pan sauce, veggie and black beans, but it's never a mistake to try the special of the night too :) never been disappointed. Oh and Karim is the best server ever, so sweet and truly concerned about how everything is going.
This was our first time dining at BFG. We tried once before they started accepting reservations and couldn't hang around an hour for a table. The front of the house was still a bit hectic and disorganized and they really need to lose the iPad for managing reservations. It really seemed to be slowing things down.
Once we were seated, things greatly improved. The menu offers a wide range of seafood options that you can customize as you see fit. They also have nightly non-fish specials that sounded delicious, but we came for the fish, so ...
I couldn't decide between the Ahi Tuna tacos and the Mahi Mahi tacos, so I got an order of each and took one of each home. The fish was perfectly prepared and the well-chosen condiments complimented the fish wonderfully. The portion sizes are very generous, but the fries and chips are both SO good, it's impossible to not keep eating.
My wife ordered the big fish burrito and it definitely lived up to it's name. Again, fresh, perfectly cooked fish made it far better than comparable items in other restaurants. It's nice to find a place that understands fish does not need to be cooked down to a dry, tasteless hockey puck.
The atmosphere is nothing special--concrete floor warehouse with simple wooden tables--but it suits the casual vibe of the place, as do the servers.. Service is friendly and attentive, without being overbearing.
Although they now offer wine by the bottle from a local vineyard, you're still welcome to bring your own.
We will most definitely be back.
I really do like their soups. They have a small variety, but they are always original (today it was their take on Manhattan clam chowder). This, with the fish and chips (fries) made a great lunch.
Good food, reasonable prices, exccelanat server - Karem.
Went to Blue Fish for the first time with a few friends from PA. I cannot begin to describe how awwesome it was! Our out of state friends keep demanding we go back and we are happy to do so!
Long-time BFG patrons, had a lovely meal. It was good to see the patio open for outdoor dining, but we had asked to sit with Courtney, so we were inside. No fish specials and I was tempted by the chicken burrito, but they had mussels back, so I had the Mojo. I had missed this wonderful broth. My husbands tacos were fresh and excellent. Our daughter had a very nice hamburger and their spicy fries.
Oh, dessert at Factory Fuel next door was lovely Kelly!
You can't go wrong with BFG. Always fabulous!! Fish is the obvious choice but their specials are excellent and they have the best burger around.
Food took too long and unfortunately one of our meals came out 15 minutes after the rest. Manager never came over to apologize and waiter offered minimal explanation/apology. The food was delicious so I will return.
Menu a little different than expected but very good food
First time dining Nehru on a Sunday, so we came for lunch. Ate out doors, great service and tasty meals, affordable too.
