I went to dinner with my three girlfriend for a birthday celebration. We throughly enjoyed our evening. We had a great bottle of wine, Butternut squash soup to start. We then shared the beet salad, Salmon, and lobster Mac and cheese. The nice waitress brought us a beautiful dessert tray with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. It was delicious.
I was disappointed there was no piano player like advertised. I think the main dining room or outside seating had more ambiance than the back room where we were seated.

We ate there two nights in a row. Went back next night for the clam chowder. It's excellent. Braised beef was really good also.
Chef and sous chef are watching every dish that come out of the well run a kitchen.

We had excellent food, although we arrived unhappy because the restaurant is so darned hard to find -- even though we had been there before. It's hidden inside La Costa resort, and we never found a single sign. Fortunately, the hostess, Sky, was wonderful. They gave us great seats, free appetizers and great service.

One caveat: the restaurant is morphing into a steak house in a few months. I like it the way it is.

Waited over 20 minutes to even get a glass of water. No staff to be seen for ages. Restaurant patrons there before us didn't have their food until around the time we got ours so slow service all around. Only three tables including ours were seated so not overly busy. Good choice was a little sparse. My companion enjoyed his short ribs but the chicken added to my risotto tasted as if boiled and unseasoned. Not sure I'd go back.

Extremely over priced, food was bland, old, and previously frozen. Only redeeming quality was our server.

With all the amazing & high quality restaurants surrounding this area...eat there. Do not waste your money here.

We always enjoy LaCosta Resort for special occasions. The service is always great and so is the food. The holiday environment was very warming and not crowded. Great for taking pictures. The Resort is close to home, so the drive is great.....

The food was fair at best; had a rib eye steak that was more fat vs meat; had to ask the waiter several times for bread, water and wine. Desert was great. Disappointed overall since the La Costa resort is very nice.

I have dined twice at the Blue Fire Grill. My first experience was two years ago and I was overall happy with my experience. My latest experience was last weekend for my mom's birthday. The food was absolutely terrible. This applies not just to my dish ( I had the sea bass) but to all of the dishes at the table. Their risotto was colorless and lacking flavor. The Salmon was also lacking flavor as did their chicken dish.The presentation of the food was absolutely sub-par.

The only item which was excellent was the Banana Split dessert.

As a resident living on the golf course I enjoy coming to the resort for the overall ambiance. The staff are very polite and friendly. The staff at the restaurant were also polite and friendly. However, the restaurants needs a serious makeover with regard to the quality, taste, and presentation of their food.

I am overall very very disappointing in my dining experience last weekend and do hope that the Blue Fire Grill makes some changes in the future.

The food here was incredible. We ordered the trio of empanadas appetizer, and they were all extremely tasty. My favorite was the beef with olive and egg, but my husband preferred the prawn. They bring out a basket of bread - I loved the fig bread with the olive tapenade, and the sundried tomato cheese crisps! We both ordered the NY steak, and they both arrived cooked perfectly. The garlic mashed were scrumptious! Our server was wonderful - extremely personable, prompt, great with the refills. We had an amazing time, and I would definitely return here if I am ever back in the area!

We came for my birthday and there was live piano music. We had one whole section to ourselves and it was quiet and romantic. We ordered way too much food but it was all delicious. I had a piscarina which tasted like a margarita. We had the quinoa off the Chilean menu and the risotto off the regular menu. Both were tasty and filling. Recommend trying something off the special menu. Delightful!

We entertained two other couples last week at Blue Fire Grill and enjoyed a fabulous evening. Joey, the head guy there, seated us at a beautiful table and our service was outstanding all evening by Trina. She knows the menu well, is attentive but overbearing and is a delightful person. The roasted beet salad was ordered by everyone and we all raved about it. I ordered the short ribs and they were some of the best I have ever made myself or ordered in a restaurant. One person ordered the chicken and oohed and aahed over it. Another person ordered the halibut and said it was the best ever. We enjoyed wonderful wine from their extensive wine list and we shared one dessert since we were all quite satisfied with the generous portions of our meals. Blue Fire is an exceptional restaurant at the Omni La Costa Resort and we always love to dine here.

We loved this place! We took advantage of the warm weather and sat out on the patio where it was quite comfortable. We ordered the fresh Halibut, Salmon and a couple vegitarian dishes. Everything was delicious. I would definitely return to check out some of the other items on the menu! Looking forward to our next visit!

The service was excellent, he was a good advisor, the food was very nicely prepared and the overall table and evening were excellent. We enjoyed the relaxing slow paced evening. Did not feel rushed and really liked the restaurant.

Great food, great service, great ambience. This was a fantastic place to eat and relax. Not your typical hotel or resort restaurant at all!! The Steak was amazing and the cheese platter was as well!!!!

I really like this location but the service was just horrible. The waitress seemed to forget about us repeatedly and food was served without all the necessary silverware, for instance.

My husband and I decided to celebrate our 25 year anniversary at Blue Fire and it was well worth it. We enjoyed all 4 courses and will definitely be going back. Desserts were amazing. Creme Brule and Banana Split topped the perfect evening!

My husband and I had a great time here, the steak and lamb specials were wonderful. Our waitress knew we were celebrating and in no hurry and She was fantastic! We were able to take our time, talk, and really enjoy our food without feeling rushed. She kept our wine glasses full and her timing was superb.

Took some friends to dinner to celebrate their engagement. Started with the oysters and champagne. Then moved on to apps, entrees and dessert. Everything was extraordinary. Carrot-ginger soup, clams and pasta and chocolate cake. Service was exceptional and the ambiance with live music on the patio was just perfect. Blue Fire is under-appreciated.

to start we were greeted by three different waiters until last one threw the first under the bus.
Ordered our food appetizers came out fine. The our dinner entrees were brought to a table nearby us...the waiter then Went over to that table and told them "you are eating their food" as if it was their fault.
About another 5-7 minutes worth of clusterf*#k and then we asked them to cancel rest of meal so we did not have to wait.

The comped most of the meal but bottom line get your act together since it was almost empty that night none of this should have happened.

We had a surprisingly wonderful dining experience. Surprising because I typically don't expect much from a hotel restaurant. I saw couples, families with children, and business associates dining here and everyone appeared to have attentive, welcoming service - as we did. The spinach salad was fresh and came already split for 2. The vinaigrette dressing was light and tasty. The cioppino was full of clams, shrimp, mussels and fish, although we did miss the Dungeness crab that was promised on the menu. Also the Sugo pork with pappardelle pasta was savory and delicious. They also mix a great Bloody Mary!

We stayed at the resort and loved every part except our dinner here. The poblano corn gratin was thin like water so you couldn't dip anything into it like the bread that accompanied it. I mentioned it to the server and she said it supposed to be on the thin side. Then don't call it gratin! Short ribs were ok but a bit dry, pork chop special was good. Profiteroles were stale but ice cream was delicious. we couldn't even eat the profiteroles because they needed a knife they were so hard and it was already cleared. Nothing to go back to for sure!

From the moment we sat down, the GM Joe Baumgartner was very attentive. It was a special occasion and it was treated so. Our servers were excellent as was each course of food. From salad to short ribs, steak and especially the blueberry, pomegranate sorbet!
