Blue Fin - Columbia
Experience was great... server was very attentive and had no issues... thanks!!
The overall experience was ok. We had soup that was incorrect (my son just ate the one they brought) and they brought out the steaks with different temps and we had to swap on our own with really no care from the restaurant. It’s a big deal for someone who ordered a medium steak to get the medium rare steak and then have to swap (luckily it was my 19 yr old son) which he had ate some before we swapped. My issue is the fact they acted like that was ok. No adjustment to our check for their mistakes which was ok but at least apologize/acknowledge them. The food was good but honestly over priced. Nothing special. We had a variety of food ordered and no one was blown away. The crab dip appetizer was probably the best item ordered.
This place never disappoints. We had a reservation for Mother's Day and was seated and served promptly. The food was delicious and we were in and out in under an hour.
This was not my first time here but this was my first time having the shrimp and grits! It was very good! Jake was our waiter and he was very attentive and friendly. This was my mother's first time and she was pleased! Also I made reservations on Open Table and we were seated pretty much right away!
The menu evidently was reduced down because of the Mothers Day holiday. Not sure this is correct as waitress seemed to not really know the answer when we asked about the missing menu items plus why would you want to remove items you normally could sell just because mom was coming? Food was ok however restaurant was very loud. The highlight of the evening was our bus boy. Very attentive, friendly and had eye contact. He should be running the place.
Staff graciously accommodated a large party. Food was excellent with a good variety.
The restaurant itself was nice. Our server, Wesley was sweet and attentive. The food, not worth the price at all. I wanted to order the flounder but I was informed that they were only fillets rather than a full bone-in; fillets are never worth $23 dollars. I instead got fried shrimp (requested) with mashed potatoes. The batter for the shrimp were not good and the mashed potatoes weren’t great either. This meal wasn’t worth even $18. They honestly shouldn’t advertise themselves as a seafood restaurant. My partner didn’t fully enjoy his meal either; he ordered the surf n turf. He stated the crab cake was too small and very greasy. Also he expected more than four shrimp.
We will not be returning here to dine; maybe for the bar.
Blue Fin has a great selection of menu items in surf and turf. My favorite is the Blackened North Carolina Trout. Great location and facilities.
The staff was very pleasant over all every thing was what I expected
Food was very good. Service was a bit lacking. Our server seemed inexperienced and uninterested. She took a very long time to bring my drink and did not check on us often. She brought our check without asking if we were done. It was not a busy night we were 1 of 2 tables in our section of the restaurant.
very nice for brunch and service was ok though waitress began removing plates before all finished.
Very good atmosphere and charmingly decorated.
Outstanding gourmet presentation and taste. Attentive service as well.
The waitress was informative and had great recommendations. She was friendly and checked on us frequently but not too frequent. The food was great. Well balanced and proprtioned.
Food is always good!! It's a good idea to make reservations.
Great Bass dish & friendly Service.
The server was outstanding and incredibly knowledgeable about the seafood as well as the beer. He was patient, had great recommendations, and checked on us regularly. The food was very good (seafood platter, braised short rib, calamari) but the server made the meal spectacular. Quiet but didn't feel out of place with children in tow.
Service was slow. They didn't realize we didn't have a server. However, they gave us a free dessert to make up for it.
We visited the area for a funeral and decided to explorer the city before heading back to MD. The staff was really friendly, but food and ambiance was mediocre, kinda like a Fridays and Ruby Tuesday. I expected a higher end based on reviews.
Our waiter was truly exceptional! The food was delicious
Overall experience was great! Waitress/server Shayla was incredible followed her recommendation on the meals and they were outstanding. Planning to make another visit before I leave SC
Food is great! Wide variety of choices. Highly recommend.
My family went to celebrate my Mother’s 70th Birthday. When we got there we were seated immediately and greeted within 5 minutes. We ordered an appetizer which was brought out rather quickly as well. However, the service when downhill from there! We all ordered at 6:50pm...they didn’t start bringing our food until 7:40pm. The server seemed extremely frazzled, and continuously apologized, which was acceptable to me. However, I asked to speak to a manager, and when he came to our table he (John the General Manager) was extremely abrasive and said verbatim “well our kitchen is backed up because we had a party of 15 and 20, so our ticket times are running at least 30
minutes. I’ll buy y’all dessert to make you feel better” I was extremely annoyed with his comment because not only did he NOT apologize for the extremely long wait between ordering and receiving our food, he thought that “buying us dessert to make us feel better” was him saving the day! I never expect a discount on food, or even free food, but a little customer service, and even an apology goes a long way with dissatisfied customers. We paid our bill of $128, left our waitress a tip, and will ensure that we never visit Blue Fin again. The food was a 5 out of 10 at most (small portion sizes) but the service was a 1, which made the whole experience, an unpleasant one.
Very good place to eat. The food was amazing
Great meal, steaks were spot on.
Daniel our server was terrific.
The food is of poor quality. Over cooked. Poor seasoning to no seasoning. I have never dined at a restaurant where not one of the 7 items we ordered tasted good. I ordered the seafood platter and found myself wishing I had saved the money and gone to Captain Ds. My husband ordred the ribeye which was clearly not seasoned well if at all. It appeared to have been charbroiled and way over cooked. Never again. The waitress was fine. That’s about the best I can say about my experience.
Our new favorite spot for special nights out. We love adding salmon or shrimp to the salad if our choice.
Blue fin is an excellent restaurant. Everyone was very nice and smiling. The food was great.
We received wings that weren't cooked and returned them. I had a piece of crab in my trout. And I got sick shortly after the dinner.
Been there several times before but not likely to return anytime soon. Though the food tasted fine, we (a party of 4) were put off by the waiter's (or as he claimed, the management's) inflexible policies. I ordered the swordfish special for the evening which was accompanied by asparagus - which I dislike intensely. When I asked the waiter if I could switch the asparagus with ANY other vegetable or side I was told it was against "management policy" to allow substitutions on specials: "It's easier for the cooks" was the rationale that was offered.
A dining companion ordered a different main but didn't want either of the sides offered with it. Instead, she was told she could get a small side salad for a $2.50 upcharge which she agreed to. I also ordered a side salad after making it clear I didn't want the asparagus. Yes, the main course showed with the asparagus anyway. And BTW, my wife ordered the meatloaf which came with a side of well made green beans. I asked the waiter why couldn't the kitchen have simply left the asparagus off my plate and replaced with green beans since he knew I didn't want them and I would see how wife's main course complete with green beans SITTING NEXT TO ME! "Against policy," again was the response.
It gets better: when it came time to settle up, we noticed that our companion's side salad was indeed $2.50 while mine was billed at $5.00. When asked about the discrepancy, I was told that since the companion didn't get the sides normally included in her meal, the cost was only $2.50. Since my meal was delivered with asparagus - which I didn't want and never touched - the cost of a side salad was $5.00.
At no time was I ever given the feeling that the customer's needs/desires were in any way important to either the waiter or management. There was no effort on his part to accommodate my requests or any effort to reduce the charges to help take the sting out of what was a fairly unpleasant experience.
Blue fin is a regular dining destination for us. You can always count on their great service and excellent food.
Made on open table reservation and was seated immediately. That's all the good that I have to say. Service was extremely slow and food was not prepared properly. Once the manager saw me send food back, he visited every table except ours....would not try this again. At an average of $50 per person this is not the food, quality, or service that you would expect.
Our experience at Blue Fin was quite enjoyable. We were seated promptly upon arrival and our server arrived very soon after. Our server was very friendly and helpful, explaining about some of the dishes. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. The only negatives were they did not have the wine we preferred and out table was near the bar area so it was a bit noisy. Otherwise and outstanding experience. We would not hesitate to visit here again.
My husband and I with our Son and daughter n law
Wanted some place different for dinner!! So I remembered coming to Blue Fin some years back and I enjoyed it then and I’m so glad I remembered!!
We all really enjoyed everything. Our server was excellent and our cuisine was delicious!! We will be back again and again!!
I think Blue Fin is probably a really good restaurant and my experience here was good (on a scale of Poor to Excellent). I was a little disappointed in the quality of the food, but my standards are pretty high so it wouldn’t be on my list to readily recommend to a discerning patron. Having said that, I would give it another try as I don’t think one experience is always enough to make an ultimate judgment.
I took a date here and the atmosphere was perfect for a date. It’s a nicely appointed restaurant and has a casual upscale feel to it. Our server, Shayla was knowledgeable and friendly and was kind enough to remove an item from our bill (Oysters Rockefeller) that we found to taste unfresh. I ordered a swordfish special in a sriracha sauce and my date had spinach w/ a mashed potato side (a miscommunication as she meant to order the Fried Flounder). The portion of swordfish was smaller than I was expecting, but the flavor was decent. I tried my date’s spinach and it was very bland (it was plain spinach, so I get it). We didn’t have a chance to try dessert, but I will plan on doing that on a follow-up visit for a fair assessment. They also had a fried oyster appetizer w/ grits that looked amazing- although I am wary after the Oyster Rockefeller experience.
I will follow up this review after my next visit.
Excellent food and service. The bartender also knows how to make a good drink.
They were out of Coca Cola and Lemonade. My friend ordered a lemon drop martini and was told they were out then ordered the Coke and they were out.
We looked at their menu online when we were deciding where to go for dinner. When we get there they were only doing a limited menu due to the Holidays or at least that’s what we were told. With no substitutions allowed. So needless to say we were very disappointed. We couldn’t get some of the things that were on their online menu.
Where we sat we could hear the waitresses complaining about each other and sharing their stories of arguments with other members of the staff.
Great staff and waiter. We love the place for its overall value.
