Way too much alcohol in the drinks. I might as well have gotten a shot. Bartender wasn't very attentive. You can tell she had her regulars and just kept complaining about her job. We moved from the bar to a booth. Much better there. The food is subpar but good enough for a quick bite. Wouldn't recommend as a date place. Not a good location either.
For some unknown reason, even though the restaurant was nowhere near full when we arrived (with a reservation) they seated us at a table in the bar. There were a party of four near us at the bar who were having a good time doing their own play by play commentary about a football game on the TV - which is fine when you are at a bar, but made having a quiet conversation at our table almost impossible. The serving of fish my wife ordered was paper-thin and overcooked to the consistency of cardboard. The meat entree I had was cooked as ordered, but tough. The vegetables we had were delicious. When we left the restaurant at about 8:15 PM we walked out into a street scene jammed with literally hundreds of teen-agers loitering in the area (obstructing pedestrian traffic on the sidewalks on both sides of the street, yelling to or at each other across the street), and a very heavy police presence (no fewer than six police vehicles in the street, blue lights flashing, within 50 yards of the front of the restaurant.) The walk from the restaurant to where we parked our car was not at all pleasant. This was our first and last visit to this restaurant.
conversation at our table l
This was our second time here and it did not disappoint. We had seafood, steak, and pasta- all were delicious!
We had a family get together and everyone had a good time and we loved thd food. The Shrimp and Grits were delicious but just a little bit to much to eat before the entre. I’m sure we will be back and I will recomend this restaurant to my friends.
Blue Fin has good food, but I likely won’t visit it again in its current location. I didn’t realize it was in The Village of Sandhill when we made the reservation. It’s not a place I visit often so the address didn’t ring a bell. When we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the large groups of teens and young adults walking around and the presence of police offers on every corner. As we were walking to Blue Fin from our parking spot, we had to walk around a group of teens who were arguing with an officer because curfew was in effect and he was instructing them to move to a specific area and call their parents. It was NOT the vibe I was looking for when I browsed Open Table for a place to celebrate our 17th anniversary. When we walked into Blue Fin it was immediately obvious that our reservation wasn’t necessary- as there were maybe 6 tables occupied at 7pm on a Saturday. My assumption is that the situation outside is impacting business. Our server was attentive, but I believe she only had us and one other table. The food was good and the menu was creative. Unique pairings of side dishes and ingredients. I did feel it lacked a little “wow” factor that I long for from a restaurant at this price point. There wasn’t anything wrong with the meals, they just didn’t overly impress me or my husband. Dessert fell short, however. New York style cheese cake and the chocolate cake were both just average. The atmosphere was quiet and sophisticated, which we appreciate. Sadly, most of our dinner conversation was about how surprised we were by the situation outside, and our speculation over what it would be like when we walked back to our car.
On that note, our return to our car was amongst twice as many groups of teens and young adults than when we arrived. Clearly the curfew isn’t effective or enforced. Therefore- we won’t be back.
The restaurant is not fairly rated. Is a total scam. It is not what you expect for a 4.5 rating from OpenTable. I ordered a Crab cake sandwich and was surprised the bread came cold and the crab patties (they were 2! small just like the ones sold frozenat a supermarket). The place was not in good shape and the bathrooms dirty.
The mirrors in the back where we sat were very dirty. The complimentary bread we were served lasted awful! The food we were served was ok but a bit bland.
Frequent Blue Fin regularly, always great food and service.
The food and service were outstanding, but the temperature inside was at least 75-76 degrees.
Good as always. Great service and excellent food. Drinks are very good too. Highly recommend this restaurant,
My server and m anager were fabulous and very understanding when my date got lost and got there 15 minutes before closing. I had already ordered for him and they were gracious and allowed him to eat.
Everything we had was tasty and well seasoned from the shrimp and grits to the salmon to the pasta and shrimp to the fried fish platter. How do I know? Because I tasted everybody's plate.
Mother’s Day dinner was wonderful!
Overall is was a decent experience. The positive side is we didn’t wait long because we had a reservation. The food was mediocre. My sister in law requested a slight addition to the entree and the chef said no. The waitress was friendly which helped.
The food and atmosphere were fine, but the service was painfully slow. I don't think it was the servers fault, but it took a solid 45 minutes from ordering to receiving our food.
The food was amazing as well as the service. We were sat immediately with our reservations and our server brought us all water as she greeted the table. Cocktails came within 5 minutes and appetizers were very quick as well. Our entrees were served within 5-8 minutes of finishing our appetizers. No complaints at all. Everything was delicious and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves seafood.
Shabby interior, dirty bathrooms, and bland food. Overall, very disappointing experience.
Didn’t have several menu items. Service acceptable but distracted.
Everything about the meal was amazing, our server, Shayla. even brought us a sauce that didn’t come with our spring rolls that paired amazingly. The steak was great and the pork chop was delicious! Thank you for a great night out Shayla!
good food, nice selection, excellent service. would recommend
Exceptional service, good food. Will return and try other items on the menu.
Staff was friendly and waitress was attentive but stretched thin. Food was OK, but took far too long to come out for a lunch shift. Not memorable. Just Eh.
Meal and service were exceptional, environment very conducive for conversation. Menu choices offered great variety. Overall, highly recommended!
Salmon was awesome! Had oyster Rockefeller and it was the best we have had!
No need to go. Class C cuts of food
Preparation and presentation one step above Long John Silvers.
If read my reviews, this level of condemnation is very rare. The price to quality ratio (P/Q) is a 4 out of 10.
Advice to restaurant: Just reduce your price or start a buffet line.
Seriously, connective tissue in “ahi” tuna? Steak with 30% fat waste and connective tissue st your prices is simply criminal.
I hope you take this constructively to improve. Thank god for your bar.
This was my second time at Blue Fin, but this time it was for brunch. The food was excellent. However the service was very slow. It was a table of 3 and we were seated immediately because we had reservations. Our waitress did not come take our drink order for another 11 minutes. It took her another 7 or 8 minutes for her to bring our waters. We finally got our drinks and then we ordered. It didn't take too long for the food to come out, but our waitress didn't check on us until we were done eating so we didn't get any refills on our waters or anything.
It wasn't crowded so I'm not sure if some of the workers just called out that day or what. I had a great time at Blue Fin for dinner, but this experience at brunch was not the best.
The atmosphere was great, the service impeccable and the food fantastic. The location was absolutely perfect!
If there was one thing that I would change, it would be the cracked leather on the seat cushions. It sort of takes away from the atmosphere when you are being seated. Once you'reseated, you forget about it, but it would definitely improve the upscale ambiance to have the seating repaired.
Service was awesome and super fast. Food was also great.
I'm sorry but we were not impressed. We just moved here from Charlotte and this place had good reviews so we tried it. My husband and I both were disappointed in the food and drinks. My cocktail tasted like sugar water and the food was very bland. The service was great. We won't be back though.
The atmosphere was pretty good. I enjoyed it and will go back again
It was Valentines Day so I was patient with the waiter. However it was still rather slow considering the amount of servers and runners working that night. The food could have used a tad bit more seasoning and it’d be nice if the restaurant offered complimentary rolls while you wait on your food. Once the server finally came to our table, he was very courteous and we were pleased with his service overall aside from the fact that he did take a while to approach us. The cuisine at the restaurant is described as being low country so it’d benefit the restaurant to actually research authentic low country cuisine to add a few more authentic meals to help expand their menu selection.
Blue Fin was a great last minute Valentines dinner spot. Great food, decent wine list and superb service. Don’t be scared off by the outdoor mall setting. One of the best options in the NE/Fort Jackson area.
Had the Atlantic salmon it was awesome!
We have she crab soup appetizer and Oysters Rockefeller they were both excellent. Our server was very attentive salad main course were both excellent I would recommend the pork chop. We had decaf coffee with our dessert excellent evening
very far drive for us. However waitress was phenomenal. The food was ok. Had a groupon so that helped
Great food and service. However, there should be more dessert options
If you're looking for drinks and great appetizers this is the place. Other than that the entrees are horrible. Overly salted and not fresh.
Best food we had in Columbia. Staff is friendly and attentive.
Great dinner date at bluefin. Food service and everything outstanding.
The Fish was over cooked!
