Blue Duck Tavern, a contemporary neighborhood restaurant, invites its guests to gather and celebrate in good taste with a menu focusing on the freshest ingredients available from local purveyors and artisans. The menu notes every farm where the main ingredient for the dish was raised before its journey to the table. Dishes are genuine, time-honored and traditional -- slow roasting in wood embers, braising, preserving and smoking techniques bring the true flavors of America's great, simple and wholesome foods to the Blue Duck Tavern.

The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

*Please note that for diners bringing in wine, a $35 corkage fee (per 750 ml bottle of wine), with a limit of two bottles, will be charged.

The food is as wonderful and delicious as you would expect from a Michelin-starred kitchen. Every dish is a presentation masterpiece and a delightful combination of farm-to-table ingredients and perfect, creative seasonings. The best tomato soup my hubby had ever had anywhere, unctuous roasted marrow bones with a whole roasted head of garlic to scoop and spread on toasted bread. Breathtakingly gorgeous platter of roasted rack of lamb for two with “mole” sauce and grilled lime. Don’t skip the signature BDT fries, which achieve a crispy creaminess previously unknown for mere potatoes! And desserts, oh wow. Cherry cobbler beyond belief. And a chocolate layer cake with mind-blowing smoked vanilla ice cream and duck fat caramel. The stuff foodie dreams are made of.

On the down side, the chic and beautiful interior design of handsome carved wood provides no soft buffer to absorb sounds, making the noise level higher than comfortable for talking at the table. And elegant but ineffective lighting made reading the menu a challenge; interestingly, the soft spotlight was exactly located to highlight the lamb platter when it was ceremoniously places on the table, but our individual plates were deeply shadowed. Service was appropriately attentive, with a few slow spots. (We didn’t get bread until we were well into our cocktails.) The wine list is strangely organized.

Perhaps a function of a Sunday night reservation, but a notable and total absence of female waitstaff and only two women in the open kitchen, one on salad station and one on dessert. What’s up with that in today’s environment ?

Absolutely awesome! Staff was SO friendly and accommodating. Louis and the other bartender was so much fun, Louis, our server was the best. Andrea is as super sweet! Food was incredible especially the bone marrow and foie gras. Blue Duck made a special evening memorable

Everything was ok but lackluster from other Michelin experiences I’ve had in the past. The pea salad and bone marrow were to die for. The Fois Gras was interesting but not what I was expecting. It seemed more like a creme brûlée more than Fois Gras. I ordered the whole fish for entree. When the entry arrived it was just that, a whole fish, and nothing more. I asked the server if we could get someone to come over and debone the fish and he whisked the entree away back to the kitchen. The primary server stopped back by to check on us and we mentioned that they take our food. In other great restaurants the server deboned the whole fish table side. So after the fish was sorted out, there were still a lot of bones to deal with and it was very “fishy”. Yes, I know, some fishes are stronger than others but I can tell the difference between fresh catch and catch from a few days ago. I also felt that the primary server could have been a little more knowledgeable on the ingredients and food preparation of the foods we ordered. This was my second time to dine there. It was good but I’m a little disappointed with some of the food, service, knowledge, and presentation. As you can see I left 4 stars which is still really good just not over the top

It was not a good experience today. I’ve been the the Blue Duck tavern many times and I always walk away so happy. Today my ice coffee was terrible. It was miserably cold inside the restaurant. Our services wasn’t good. We sat at our table for a good 5-10 minutes before anyone even spoke to us let alone bring us water. Our entree’s were ok. I hope this isn’t the beginning of the end of my previously amazing relationship with this restaurant. But your prices are too high for a terrible experience.

Tried BDT first time for brunch. The Cafe Park was delicious, even though we didn’t realize it would be iced. It’s a must-try. I also really enjoyed my hot chicken biscuit. It’s a huge portion, so you have enough to share.

They push themselves as a quiet restaurant, it is anything but. Our booking requested a quiet area, and when we arrived were told we had to ask for a glass booth, and then we would have seated accordingly. i thought the waiter hovered, and felt free to interrupt conversation anytime he chose - almost as if he wanted to get us through as quickly as possible, to turn the table. Food was good, but not great. Wine selection was fair, but not extensive. Return? no because there are better places at this price point.

Food was very good particularly the branzini whole fish. We waited a long time for our orders to be taken, for drinks to be brought, and for dessert and coffee. Particularly for coffee. We asked 3 times for the coffee which we wanted to have with the long eaten ( not warm enough) but tasty apple pie.
We have been here many many times but this was a real disappointment.

I give very very few 5 stars and I will say the BDT just missed by a hair. Food...Fantastic, service...excellent, drinks were good and strong but the bar design is lacking. You stand 2 deep and hope to get the bartender's attention from a area that's only open on two of the four sides.

We will definitely go back!

The food is as much as possible organic from farms in the surrounding area, although they will go further afield for the right ingredients. The menu provides a great deal of flexibility in terms of how you assemble your meal and is designed for easy sharing. It is pretty much a la carte, and the side dishes are excellent and meant for sharing, occasionally a drawback for a single diner, although many of the sides are fine for one. The bartenders are outstanding, both in terms of the quality of the drinks and the personalities.

Blue Duck Tevern is a high-end restaurant. The food quality and service are excellent. I appreciated the fact that they have a large "by the glass" wine selection so I can try more than one. It is quiet and romantic and good for a special occasion. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday and were glad we chose Blue Duck.

Excellent experience at Blue Duck. The orange duck was perfectly prepared. Whole red snapper was moist and flavorful. Side dishes were delicious. Enjoyed the meal with a red Rioja suggested by the waiter. Service was excellent as well. Highly recommend.

The Saturday (3/31/2018) before Easter I was very fortunate to have brunch with family at Blue Duck Tavern – a beautiful contemporary Michelin Star restaurant in Georgetown. Cutting to the chase brunch was excellent and did not disappoint, service here is impeccable, and the space is modern, open, and airy which makes it perfect for brunch and truly seeing and enjoying the whole experience. Finding the hostess stand was a bit of an Easter Egg/treasure hunt since it is hidden behind one of the columns in the middle of the restaurant. Being a benedict fan, I had the BDT Benedict which was amazing. The unique combination of pork with mustard hollandaise made the dish satisfying while still being lighter than the standard eggs benedict. My Café Park cocktail was perfection – the balance of Grand Marnier, Expresso, and Orange was an energetic and refreshing start to the day. I plan to come back for dinner and highly recommend Blue Duck Tavern.

Excellent mixed pre drink at the bar. Good service and good drinks at the bar. Once we sat down, our waiter was amazing and really helped us figure out what to order in a very kind, patient and knowledgeable way. The servers know their menu. Food was delicious. I had a seasonal pea/bacon salad that was easily the best thing I've eaten all year. And for dessert I got vanilla ice cream and their homemade butterscotch sauce. Homemade butterscotch sauce was the best best best. This place is great for a special occasion. They make you feel special but in a relaxed environment. It's fancy, but not uptight.
