Blue Duck Tavern
The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

Dear Great Complainer, I would like to appreciate your honest feedback on the dining experience in our patio on Sep 19. On behalf of the team, I would like to sincerely apologize for the experience that was ruined by the mouse in the garden. I can assure you that we've taken all the necessary actions to prevent any unfortunate incidents like this to happen again in the future. Please accept our sincere apology and let us know if you plan to come back. Kyle Cho Asst General Manager 202-419-6783
Sat on the patio on a beautiful Fall day in DC. Service friendly, polite and efficient. We went for brunch on a Saturday afternoon to get out of the house and enjoy the day. Had poached eggs, croissant with jam, latte, hash-all excellent! Within a 1.5 miles of our house so will do this frequently!
The food was good. Not anything spectacular but good. For the price point, however, it was average at best. I was surprised that it was Michelin rated. Again, the food was good, but my date and I were both underwhelmed. I’m glad we went but I doubt I will be back.
Food was excellent the wine list needs some better wines maybe a sommelier? Was seated in the bar area, which was ok wooden chairs get uncomfortable after a while
Our first date night in 6 months- BDT was AMAZING! We split the heirloom tomato and eggplant salad- which was a regret because I wanted all of it-good balance with the tomato acidity and rich eggplant- 2 ways as pieces in the salad and as purée- perfect! I had the scallops and partner had the steak- of course we also had the BDT fries. It was a perfect meal! We had wine by the glass since we had different meals but the by the glass selection was great quality - they go the extra mile there as well. As for the service? It was top notch - we expected less apres Covid but no- it was exactly as before - very professional. We only had espresso, next week I will try and save room for dessert;)
I Love the outdoor area!!!...even before Covid! It was a beautiful day, great food and really terrific service ! Couldn’t ask for more.
One suggestion...get heaters so you can keep that area open whenever possible!!!
Best duck I’ve ever eaten. Simply lovely.
The brunch menu looked exciting and sounded delicious but really fell short. Food my room temperature. Service was a 10 out of 10.
Covid rules observed and the staff was courteous and careful with all interactions with our table.
Perfect outdoor space
Will definitely be back. Had a great meal dinning alfresco.
Great food, great outdoor , great Gladis and great Sebastian
The waiter forgot the ducks and potatoes we had cooked so the kitchen chef brought us the dishesThe waiter forgot the ducks and potatoes we had cooked so the chef serving us the dishes but unfortunately the ducks have cooled down
As usual BDT exceeds expectations. Wonderful food and service - excellent hygienic operations in the COVID environment. We had a great evening.
Blue Duck Tavern never disappoints. We spent a lovely summer evening dining on the patio, a perfect evening. The scallops, branzino, fluke crudo and eggplant and tomato salad were all excellent (and devoured, as was their homemade bread).
When we return for the colder weather, we will then indulge in their wonderful meat dishes.
Food choices were very good, and both diners enjoyed their selection. Service was attentive and helpful without being overbearing. Entrees are expensive, but in line with what a restaurant of this caliber would charge.
Extremely overpriced . Food and service were just adequate .The dining experience was average at best. Definitely not worth the money.
Pleasant outdoor sars-cov-2 dining. Minimized contact and sat outdoor while still maintaining the same experience.
Ridiculously overpriced. Dishes come with just protein, which is very well dond, but literally a duck leg and nothing else, you have to order sides to have any color or variety. Bad value and presentation. Very disappointed. The patio was great though, so made up for stingy food.
I have been here for dinner and was not impressed given my expectations. However, I gave it a second chance and went for brunch this time and was pleasantly surprised. The service and dining experience were phenomenal given the circumstances of Covid-19. The banh mi benedict was not only fresh and creative but delicious. They really changed my opinion and I will be going back.
Great!!! Perfect outdoor dining set up.
Saw good yelp reviews and decided to give this place a try. While we were waiting in line the couple in front of us requested for an outdoor seating. The person who was checking them in said he’s not sure if he could accommodate because it might rain and “we won’t force our staff to serve in the rain.” We’ll sorry for being such an inconvenience and coming here and paying for your food and service. We got seated and asked for recommendations, waiter was taken aback and kinda just rambled. We ordered random things since we still had no idea what was even popular there. Tried to look for the bathroom one of the staff said “it’s at the end of the hall.” Waited so long for the waiter after entree that we forwent the dessert just to get the hell out. Got a bit lost and stepped slightly into the kitchen area (I think???) and was told “it’s staff only.”
I’ve been to a couple michellin restaurants in the same area and have never been treated like this? I’ve never felt like more like a burden being at restaurant before.
Good food with excellent service. We got braised rib and duck entrees and both were delicious.
The only good thing about our visits was the coffee. The service is poor and every time we enter there’s never a host and we stand for about 5 to 15 minutes to get seated even when we have a reservation. The quality of the food is nothing what it was like two years ago and I’m very disappointed especially for the price
The al fresco dining near the fountain is really one of THE most pleasant places to eat in the city on a nice night. Can’t be beat. The food is always good to great, and the staff attentive without being obsequious. A wonderful dining experience made even more so by the indoor dining risks associated with COVID. Love it
Like many restaurants, Blue Duck Tavern seeks to avoid disposable menus by use of QR technology. Would not be a problem, except in our case, when the technology failed, they were not prepared with an alternative. If it was not such an expensive restaurant, that might have been excused. But, the delay and somewhat arrogance response at Blue Duck is not excused. Made for an uncomfortable beginning to an otherwise OK experience.
Excellent meal and service in a beautiful setting but I do feel it is overpriced.
Food was perfect prepared and was inspiring but portions were small.
Had to have steak cooked 3 times, I kept getting MW when I ordered Extra rare...... steak was not competed, neither was anything else- we want a $50 gift card or free meal- we are regulars for past 10 yrs, and this visit was unacceptable- Darrel Bilbrey, ph 734-255-4675
Excellent escape from the craziness that is our regular day these days.
Simply a fabulous meal in a wonderful setting! I can't wait to go back!
The food and atmosphere was AMAZING; Full of flavor. Only thing was the pasta that was a little dry, although the flavor was there.
Took my family to BDT for a birthday brunch. Glad we had a reservation as they were turning people away. Service and food were well above average. It lacks the energy and international flavor of their normal business but I hope the old staff is able to return as business picks up. This is my favorite restaurant in all of DC.
Great dinner as always.
Excellent food! Vegetables were cooked to perfection....in-season veggies. Duck was even better than in Canada and shirt rib was delicious. Wait staff woregloves, masks and some even with shields. We ate outside, well-distanced from other diners.
Delightful evening, highly recommend Blue Duck Tavern!
Great food but pricy. However you get what you pay for great service and an upscale dining experience
We went there during this social distancing time, there were very few people. Food & service were excellent. It is a nice place to go with friends. They seating outside also. Highly recommend to go with friends.
Blue duck never disappoints! Great staff and wonderful food!
