Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Very beautiful space, very delicious food, and excellent service--highly recommend! BUT, the fries, while very delicious, are not really fries in the traditional sense. Also, its quite expensive, but it is very very good.
5 stars is not enough for the Blue Duck Tavern. Superb food and outstanding service. I think the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Will definitely return when in town for my next special occasion.
The Brunch menu is well put together. Service was outstanding and the food was absolutely phenomenal. The best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. Chicken thighs were used vs the traditional chicken breast or wings. The chicken thigh was seasoned to perfection and crispy, the waffle was moist and was infused with syrup. Nothing else was needed ...my wife had the open faced BDT burger.. she enjoyed it so much. We’re definitely going back to experience the dinner menu soon!
The food is disappointing. Neither unique in terms of concept or a good execution of a classic. Overall, extremely overpriced for mediocre to borderline “ok” food.
Ambience is nice, nothing amazing.
Service acceptable but again not even close to excellence.
Have had roasted duck all over the world and I can easily say the roasted duck at Blue Duck Tavern was the best! Pure epiphany!
The food wasn’t very good. There was very little flavor, nothing special. Meat quality on the short ribs was low. The charcuterie and cheese plate was very boring - all cheeses were similar and very few accompaniments. The value for money on the entire meal was way off. Massively overpriced for mediocre, not tasty food. While the ambiance and service were fine - We left wanting our money back.
Excellent food, quiet glass booth ideal for business lunch.
Yummy ..... 🛴🏃🏼🍻🎉🤳🏼
On a date with my boyfriend, we found the atmosphere to be romantic and comfortable
Food and cocktails were amazing. Service impeccable. Already recommended to friends, will go again.
Blue duck has been on my list to try for quite some time and maybe I had high expectations. Most dishes were excellent except crispy duck wings, it was crispy but extremely dry. The food came out quickly but it wasn't as warm like fresh out of the oven. Compared to other Michelin star restaurants, it was just okay.
Always great. The BDT duck was spot on, as the signature burger and the service.
We arrived for our early dinner reservation. The restaurant is actually haqrd to find from inside the hotel. We were seated at a back table and it took awhile for someone to come and offer water, etc. Our waiter seemed knowledgeable but he was so hard to understand (very thick accent) that we stopped asking questions as we couldn't understand the answers. The salads were delicious and the entrees were very good. It was hard to tell how they came up with how many glasses of wine to charge us as they just kept refilling our glasses as happens when you order by the bottle. It was SO noisy, much noisier than I would have expected from a high end restaurant (our dinner bill was over $400) with nothing special ordered, salad, entree, dessert and wine for 3 (only 2 drinkers). The dessert was really good apple pie but we couldn't order it ala mode so had to order 2 extra desserts to get the ice cream. With so many other choices nearby, would not go here again.
Blue Duck Tavern is our go-to for special occasions. This time, it was our 30th anniversary. They always make our visits feel special, this time with customized "Happy Anniversary" menus that the staff signed with various best wishes.
We chose to sit over near the bar this time, as we find that area a bit more cozy and quiet than the main dining room.
Our server Justin was phenomenal; he was very well versed in the dishes. I ordered and shared the whole fish stuffed with herbs and lemon. It was fantastic. My wife ordered the duck and my tastes of that confirmed it was expertly prepared. We also came to rely on Justin's wine pairing recommendations for our meals.
Since we were sitting near the bar, it was also a fun time to people-watch. Lots of meet-ups, both business and personal, people from a variety of walks of life, etc.
Valet parking was easy and reasonably affordable for restaurant patrons ($12).
We may have visited on an off night. They were not ready for us despite our reservation and moderate table size (5 people). The hostess did not apologize for making us wait for more than 15 minutes for our table and did not recommend that we sit at the bar to wait - just kept on dismissing us with "5 more minutes" when we asked how much longer the wait would be. Our server was very kind and patient. However, he seemed rattled by something and slightly off his game- perhaps some issues in the back of house (he did not warn us that certain dishes were sold out or tell us what the specials were before we ordered). The food was delicious and in generous portions, but some of it was lukewarm by the time it got to the table. In most restaurants, I would expect these minor issues. But this place has a Michelin star. I expected better.
Food was outstanding! The service was well coordinated and the all the food and beverage recamendations were spot on. Michael was a great server, he created a connection and made us feel like we were in his home .
I dont really know where to start with this place. We were in gastro heaven the entire time. Tibor's service was on point the entire time; he didnt allow us to want for long and always anticipated our next request. We started with the bone marrow and an heirloom tomatoe salad. The bone marrow was amazing, but that was expected. The tomato salad though... this was the first thing that really wowed me. Our entreed were the whole stuffed duck and the new york strip. The steak was good. The duck though... was beyond amazing. So crisp and the meat was soooo rich. If you're in the area you need to eat here.
Superb food and service, memorable experience
This was our second time at this restaurant and both times the food and service was excellent!
Service was terrific. Food was very good. Charcuterie appetizer was tasty and plentiful. Duck very well cooked and tasty. The vegetable pot pie tasty and large. Attentive but not overwhelming service. Big bill but worth it.
I would say that everything was superb and you must try the duck. The only aspect you may not enjoy is the way the restaurant is laid out we were inside a glass room which was a little bit like being on display. Especially with its proximity to the bar.
Wonderful experience - the food was incredible and service was perfect!
Had the whole roasted duck which was very good, we thoroughly enjoyed it. If choosing between the original version of the roasted duck and the new version stuffed with sausage, I have to say, I prefer the original version. I loved the orka! Still one of my favs for a nice meal! The bartender was great and we enjoyed our pre dinner cocktails. Yum all around!
Fabulous experience and the duck wings and duck entree are amazing.
The waiters are very knowledgeable about the farm sourced ingredients. The wine’s by the glass are plentiful and the list is deep especially do tour favorite DC stiert: the rose.
Safe room for desert or get the doggy-bags like we did and try everything again the next day!
We had a wonderful time with outstanding food, wine and not the least outstanding service. Highly recommend Blue Duck Tavern.
The very best experience in all of DC. The food, the wine, the service- I can’t say enough. By far the best place to come for any reason. It keeps getting better and better.
This was our anniversary celebration. We chose to do lunch and couldn't have asked for better food or service. Our server Craig was attentive, friendly and very knowledgable. Perfect afternoon.
Great food but very big portions. Share all dishes on two.
Incredible food and service! Went for brunch, and it was delicious!
Too expensive for what you get. Simple food.
One table was extremely loud for couple of hours. No one from the employees asked them to keep more reasonable tones. We could hardly hear each other.
Overall not worth the money. Not sure what the Michelin is about.
Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. Completely satisfied with value.
Michelin-starred, and obvious why, from Executive Chef Adam Howard's start (a super tasty cold seasonal corn chowder), through the suckling porchetta and two vegetarian entrees (the braised greens and the forager mushrooms, both absolutely fresh, colorful, masterly tasteful), to Pastry Chef Coleen Murphy's fun dessert-for-two, their seasonal peach pie (to which we added two scoops of vanilla ice cream, a wonderful treat for these two “woke” seniors’ 80th birthdays). And a special shout-out to our server, Shankar, who has been at the Blue Duck for years – longer than their current owner, who has brought up-to-date the fine dining experience offered at this long-time DC restaurant location.
We received excellent service. But, we've found it to be hit or miss over the times.
We both got sick after the meal!!
The best in the city for high quality seasonal food and best in class service. Consistency of quality meals is unparalleled. For a special treat, the whole duck is spectacular.
Great service, duck and peach pie were amazing. Everything else was so so
We have had some good experiences at Blue Duck, but this was not one of them. I think they have let their foodie edge slip in favor of expense account diners from the IMF and World Bank. This has never been a bargain restaurant but prices now are out of wack with the product provided.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in DC and Michael H. gave us the best experience we could ever ask for our anniversary dinner.
Though its a little expensive, the meal was overall great. The cocktails were perfect, and the brunch was transcendent.
Despite having a reservation for a later time, I was seated for brunch right away. Service for a table of one was a bit slow, as was the food and drinks. The BBQ hash didn't have any hash with it, so I reordered that as a side. Took a while, but once it came, the meal was great. I expected a bit more in terms of ambiance, seating (hard, wooden bench, cold AC blowing) and service, given the Michelin star and the prices, but would go back to check out the dinner menu.
