I had a girls lunch for the holidays with my besties and we loved Blue Door! The brussel sprout and kale salad was amazing! We all loved the room and our food! The only negative was the noise level...it was hard to hear each other!

Lovely room. Had a BDK hot toddy which was fabulous and perfect for a cold, snowy night.

Basically loved everything . We had the pierogi appetizer which was delicious. The fried chicken is all that you have heard. BE aware it is a big portion and can be shared if you don't want to cart a bunch home.

Will be back when the garden is open. Want to try the lunch as well.

We had read about and seen Art Smith’s Blue Door Kitchen and Garden on various Food Network shows that recommended the fried chicken. So, while on our annual Christmas shopping trip, we booked a table there on Sunday evening after the theater.
First, this place is small and cozy. Like visiting at Grandma’s house. The noise level is low, and the staff is very friendly. They really seemed to enjoy people that enjoy food as do I am my beloved. Our waiter, Mustafa, was great and made great suggestions. The manager Vince, stopped to talk and we had a lovely conversation about good food and places to get it. The house made Hummus that is presented as part of the experience is a very nice start to n evening to remember. The Deviled Eggs were outstanding. Creamy with the perfect amount of crunch and texture from the garnish. We also tried the Gordita with whipped goat cheese. It was kept from greatness by the Guatemalan radishes which we felt over powered the dish. Excellent when we took the sliced radishes off.
I went for the fried chicken and I am here to tell you that the hype is not hype. It is that good. Period. Dot. Every second of the three days it takes to brine and marinate it is well worth it. Juicy but not at all greasy, tender, and incredibly flavorful.
The real surprise was the Short Rib that Mustafa suggested for my beloved wife. Simply put, the best Short Rib of Beef either of us have ever tasted. Yes, it is THAT good.
Do try the Hummingbird Cake for dessert. One piece will be more than enough for two.
Overall, The Blue Door Kitchen was the highest point in a trip filled with culinary high points.

I love this place and always enjoy my meal! Even with it being fairly empty, it took a very long time to get our food and our server was not attentive. We had to ask for things a few times before they were remembered and brought over. Food was delicious.

Fried chicken did not fail. The portion was huge, very moist, and it sat atop a smather of mashed potatoes. Could have had more mashed potatoes.

The decor is pretentious. The waiter was somewhat inattentive. When askee for recommendarions regarding salads he directed us to the kale salad, which was in essence a lot of pasture--huge and unimoressive in flavor. My friend and I both ordered it with salmon, which came overcooked. This is my second time at Blue Door and the second time I am disappointed by the ambiance and the quality, and that I come away feeling I paid way too much.

Good food, we shared the fried chicken and Mac and cheese. The chicken was really good, but perhaps a bit greasier than I would have expected. The Mac and cheese was tasty, but again nothing that made it stand out in taste or presentation.

We also had the butternut squash soup which was good but not necessarily anything extraordinary. Maybe a few pumpkin seeds or something would have distinguished it a bit more.

The tables were a bit close together making it difficult to renter and exit our table. But again, that’s not unusual for restaurants in this part of town.

All in all, a well executed comfort food in very hospitable surroundings. The service was a bit sluggish and not especially attentive. The front house staff was pleasant.

So a decent place for comfort food. I’ll keep them on my list if we’re every down here for brunch. However I wouldn’t make a purposeful trip just for the sake of going here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Blue Door. The atmosphere and decor made it feel like we were dining in a friend's home. The service was great. The cocktails and food were fantastic! We had the "Blown Rose" cocktail, the kale brussels sprout salad, the shrimp & grits, and the salmon. Everything was delicious! The only drawback is that it gets a bit loud when the dining room is full. Overall a wonderful experience!

We had short rib and the salmon between three of us along with pumpkin soup and it was all terrific, especially the very seasonal pumpkin soup. Very good, somewhat simple but whole food.

The food was wonderful. I had the grilled Rainbow Trout which was memorable. They were very accommodating too. They originally had a table for us upstairs. But since I can't climb stairs, they relocated us downstairs.

We had dine multiple times at Table 52 and were interested in what the new name and redesign of the menu brought. We we;re not disappointed. After enjoying the complementary hummus and flatbread, we tried the gordita which can best be described as a deconstructed tamale. The gordita was a pleasant balance of spice and cheese and an fine way to start the meal. We order the two house specialties of fried chicken and shrimp and grits. The chicken was light and crunchy on the outside and moist and tasty on the inside. The shrimp and grits provided the comfort the dish intended with the slightly spicy sauce contrasting with the creamy grits. Blue Door proved to be an excellent successor to Table 52.

Great place for a date. The environment is comfortable and well appointed. The space is small but doesn't feel cramped. Service is attentive and friendly. Although this is comfort food, it is not heavy. The NY strip steak is a generous entree but the meat is not dense. The duck entree was small by comparison yet very tasty. Mac and cheese is a must!

Service was good - intentions great but missing a few key items
1- ask how I’d like my salmon prepared or indicate typical preparation
2 - ask for clarity on an order versus assumption
3- when replacing an item in a dish letting me know prior to assuming I️ can eat the replacement

Overall will go back - maybe just spotty due to mid week lunch crew.

Great flavors overall and solid menu options.

The restaurant is beautiful and the waitstaff does well. The food however was less than ordinary. Their was nothing special about their buttermilk fried chicken which is a specialty. I personally enjoy Popeyes Fried Chicken and would take PFC over their $25 BFC any day. Plus the spoonful of mashed potatoes was just a trial. Their Short Rib dish was an overload of gooey saltness, the rice it came with was just the same. The drinks were okay. We dined here to celebrate our anniversary and felt only disappointment in regards to our goal of satisfying and exciting our taste buds. Extremely pricey for their execution of food and drinks.

One of us had the fried chicken Benedict. It was tasty, everything else that was supposed to be hot was except the chicken was cold . The manager stopped by the table to see how we were enjoying our food and we let her know about the chicken. My friend did not want to make a big deal about it and told her not to replace the food as she had offered. Literally, less than 2 minutes later she delivered a new plate of food. That was awesome EXCEPT the chicken was cold on that one too-my friend said it was colder than the first one. We asked our server if that was how it was supposed to be served but he said he wasn’t sure and said he would ask the kitchen. When he returned he told us that the item had been removed from our bill which was appreciated especially since my friend only ate a portion of the meal ....by the way we never found out if that was how it was intended to be served.
The manager was very attentive and accommodating and because of this we will try Blue Door Kitchen again.

Went here when the restaurant was called Table 52. It was outstanding. This visit left something to be desired. Had the shrimp and grits- grits had very little flavor compared to when I had them a few years ago. The food was still good quality, but no longer stellar.

Gorgeous spot. A gem in a cute neighborhood with lots to see in the area. A cool little cigar spot on the corner (Briggs Mansion). Its quaint and intimate but not stuffy. The food was fabulous. The bar was great. Nice season drinks but open bar available. Great farm to table menu and they were generous to provide a nice hummus special entree on the house.
Such a find this little spot. Service was impeccable and down to earth, yet classy.
The decor was great down to the small details. LOVE it!

Service was very rushed. We arrived early for a 5:30 reservation on a Sunday night and the server rushed us to the point that it got annoying. In spite of telling the server that we wanted a few minutes to visit and enjoy our drink, he came over three times asking if we were ready to order. No consciousness at all of interrupting conversation either. In fact, our entree plates were removed before we had put down our forks on the last bite. They had us out the door by 6:45. I understand that a diner that is seated at 5:30 should expect to turn the table over for a later seating, I don't expect to spend $30 for an entree and $16 for a glass of wine and get whisked out the door in the time it takes to eat dinner at Chipotle. I did not have this experience the last time I was there.

We shared the fried chicken as an appetizer and that was great! We each had a main course that was just average (short rib and burger). Wouldn't say it was bad, but would not order again. The service was great and it was quiet enough to have a conversation. We would go again in the warmer months to enjoy the outdoor patio.
