Covid-19 is stressful and we want to show our support for one of my local restaurants since harsh time is coming. We made a reservation for noon at Blue Door and showed on time. First, they have asked us to wait for couple of minutes to clean a table. However, after that table is cleaned and it is after 12 already, they still ask us to wait – it turned out they want us to wait for another table with 2 people are still there when there are 2 empty tables. They say that the couple in the table should leave soon which they actually did not leave until almost 12:30pm. I do not blame them since Blue Door does not have a table time policy. However, I cannot believe they do not want to sit us since they say they want to save the table for 4 people when the table is already small. We finally insist to sit since we made a reservation. Of course, if we are going to wait for that couple, we probably won’t have a table until 12:30pm when they have empty tables!!! I cannot believe this. In this time, people want to eat and lave and not to mention you have tables! I would NOT recommend this place. Also since we sat very close to the kitchen, we noticed that their people DO NOT even wear gloves when they put food on the plates – talking about basic hygienic, not even in this time. The manager and the hostess have most snobbish attitude, not to mention lacking basic common sense. Now, I ate there and I wish I had not. For your safety, please do not go there!

Nice setting for a party of 2-4. I had the fried chicken which was delicious. I look forward to a return visit, to take advantage of the outdoor garden!

Food and wine were fine. Service was somewhat sketchy, considering only one other table was occupied.

Our visit with first time guests was disappointing. Sadly, the food did not match up to our much earlier, fond memories of the restaurant. The Biscuits and Gravy were more like a bowl of mush with accompanying eggs ordered a "over easy", served overcooked/poached! My wife's Benedict was not served as ordered and sent back. And, the extra order of "not to be missed" Chicken & Waffles were far from the spectacular feature touted on the menu! I don't believe that Art Smith would approve!

Not our first visit, but we brought some "newbies" with us and they loved everything about Blue Door Kitchen & Garden.... an oasis in the midst of the city. We were headed to Ruth Page Auditorium so it was all about the neighborhood on a clear, crisp but walkable night in February. We started with drinks with the scallops and deviled eggs providing a perfect accompaniment to our wine and cocktails. When it came to the main course, they had to try the chicken, of course, and we sampled the salad with apricots, candied pecans & pears on a sea of field greens and shared a bowl of the butternut squash soup, then split the Wiener Schnitzel. Not a doggy bag in sight at the end of the meal. After studying the dessert menu, there was no other choice than to share the key lime pie and hummingbird cake, because "how can you choose?" The service was, as always, attentive but not intrusive and our friends kept commenting on how lovely it was to have a conversation without yelling to be heard or straining to hear. Thank you, Chef. You and yours always make us look so good!

What a fine experience our brunch at the Blue Door was. The elevated southern cuisine was excellent. We enjoyed shrimp and grits and omelets. The fried chicken looked delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The decor is not fancy but well matched to the theme of the restaurant. The Blue Door is highly recommended.

Fried chicken and service was EXCELLENT. Shrimp and grits was fantastic. The halibut was terrible... waaaay overcooked and so dry it was almost inedible. Loved everything else about our experience.

“Over-Easy egg” on my biscuits and gravy came hard, however the server was quick to send back and fix my order. Table could’ve seen more attention from server throughout (we would’ve ordered more drinks) but overall satisfactory experience. Would go again.

While the atmosphere at BT is beautiful, I have a few suggestions unless they want the reputation of being completely unaccommodating to families. We dined for brunch 2/2/20 and had a young child with us. Despite the reservation made for 5 intentionally and noted that we would need the fifth for room for high chair (and enough room for parents to also enjoy their meal!), the hostess forced us into a four person with my 10mo old jammed on a corner with the table jutting into his chest; made for an unpleasant dining experience for me when usually given adequate room he's very well behaved and I actually enjoy my coffee and meal without having to stack plates and grab knives and utensils out of hands. Lesson 1: especially when requested in advance in a reservation, provide for the space requested as moms usually know what they need. I always order an extra entree to compensate for the high chair seat but couldn't even enjoy it shared at the table because there was no room.

Then it is disappointing that there is ZERO area to change a baby. A host offered to give me a dining chair which is 1/4 the size of the area needed to lay a child to change a diaper. The downstairs bathroom has a more than adequate space under the second mirror to put a small chest in keeping with the decor where mothers and fathers could use the surface to change their babes. I instead had to use towelettes to cushion his head from the hard stone and change him awkwardly on the sink.

On top of these inconveniences that are easily avoidable, our food took over an hour to arrive to our table. When it did the Blue Farm omelette my friend ordered to be made with egg whites, just came with only egg whites and none of the omelet ingredients as advertised.

No one apologized for any inconvenience; no discount offered; no extra coffee on the house - and I'm not looking for a freebie but just acknowledgement and an apology would have been appreciated.
