Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Always enjoy dinner at Blue Canoe. The day was even made more special celebrating a twin birthday and our friendly server offered two delicious desserts as the birthday treat from the restaurant. We had great fun and enjoyed our evening out in the patio area.
Everything was great but we thought the price of $65 for the lobster dinner for 1 person was outrageous. To think that you only eat the meat in the claws cause there is no meat anywhere else. The plate was full, great for presentation but not worth the money I paid for sure.
For this reason, I don't know if I'll recommend you or if I would ever come back. I thought nothing of it when I was there, but then talking about it and thinking about it some more... I was disappointed.
We made reservation through OpenTable and said it was for birthday. Found menu on their website totally different from their actual menu, a disappointment. Very poor value for their Entrees. Had better value and food from lesser restaurants. The casual plate "Ahi Tuna Salad" was better value.
I'd recommend burgers/salads/casual platter...better value and stay away from their entrees
Disappointed no mention made about birthday...so we celebrated very quietly.
We'd be going to the Boathouse or Cactus Club or Milestones or Keg for our next birthday dinner....
Got off to a bad start as the young girl at reception made us wait as we were 10 minutes early even though our table was available. Once we started the ordering the waitress quality was fine but as the evening progress the food was slow in coming. Have been here several times as we live close by that this visit was not as good as previous ones.
The Blue Canoe is our favorite restaurant in Steveston. The view is spectacular and ambiance, perfect for lunch or early dinner. Food is consistently good and service very friendly and attentive. It is great for friends to get together for a casual evening and this is one of the reason why we keep going back to the Blue Canoe.
Went there for an early staff dinner and they had already run out of 2 out of 4 desserts for the day! Very disappointed. Also, I ordered the seafood brochette for my entree and it was really lacking in taste. My colleague ordered a chicken pasta which was far better.
I have been coming here for years and was disappointed by the inconsistency with the food.
Our waitress was great though.
They served dinner which was a platter without plates to eat or the appropriate cutlery. The so called sauces that came with the platter were dirty and top heavy served on an inappropriate plate so when you tried to move them on the table they spilled. The seafood was chilled and so was the butter, just a bowl with no warmer to serve 5 people. This service was not well thought out at all. They tried to appease with free desert but we had had enough. They did not compensate by taking percentage off bill. Would not recommend to a friend. Was looking forward to eating there but would not come back except for happy hour when the prices cut in half would reflect the lack of professional service.
Great location. Good service. But not gourmet food. I mean, serving Indian Candy salmon on crushed ice? Ice melts. Food gets waterlogged. Okay for oysters on the half shell but not the rest of the seafood platter. Eat here, but get the fish and chips or a burger and enjoy the waterfront restaurant.
Excellent restaurant choice for Father's Day this year. It was a bite drizzly outside so restaurant was not as busy as it would normally be. Service and food were excellent. We enjoyed the fish & chips, fish tacos, salmon burger and club house, creme brûlée, and lemon curd. Is was a lovely lunch.
My husband and I along with my sister went to the blue Canoe to celebrate my sisters new job. The food and the service was excellent ! And the portions wow !! We ordered the second tier lots of crab, lobster, oysters , mussels, shrimp, caviar, ahí tuna etc....We ate so much food that we could all go for a siesta. It was worth every penny! And I will definitely go again ! And I'm going to tell all of my friends about the restaurant! **
My first dining experience and maybe the last. We had deep fried fanny bay oysters and calamari that was over cooked We had Steak for our main meal and it was Not seasoned well. The only good thing on the plate was the veggies. The dessert that we ordered was also not good because the pie itself was not up to any dessert standard of an expensive restaurant such as this one. We did finished our meal but left unhappy. Hosts needs training when receiving guests and as well as when guests are leaving. Should not just stand at their section and chatting without acknowledging their guests were leaving. Overall, the food was expensive, food should taste good and need more training on the other aspects of service. Having to work in an industry like this one, we all should know how we can impress more on our customers by looking at the basic rule of the industry- Good food, selections and varieties , cost and staff performances. Not impressed and will not recommend this restaurant.
Overall not a bad experience but not a great one either. The waiter had a slow cadence with us and the restaurant was quite noisy so it was hard for us to have a group conversation (there was 6 of us). Food was lovely, but felt pricey, portion sizes were generous though. One thing that really irritated me though was I reserved online and mentioned it was my wife's birthday, then I called the restaurant the day of to see if there was a dessert menu (I didn't see one online), asked if there were candles and I was told there was. Then when I made the order for dessert I asked the waiter if could he put a candle in the creme brulee. When it arrived...nothing. So overall it wasn't a bad experience, I think I was just hoping for a bit more.
Our meal was very good. It was the first time for my husband, and he was extremely happy. The view, weather, and of course the food and service did not disappoint. I have been several times, but noticed the shrimp sandwich was not on the menu for lunch last time I brought a friend. I would like to see it put back again. I think the mussels were tasty and nicely presented.
We enjoyed a weekend lunch with friends who were visiting from overseas. All of us were impressed with the freshness of the seafood, the perfect portioning and the friendly, efficient service. I highly recommend the blackened fish tacos and the seafood chowder.
Food was really good. Oysters were fresh. Lobster Mac n cheese was really good. I only needed the half order. Staff was really attentive and professional. No complaints. Maybe bring sunglasses if you're showing up about an hour before sunset. Also there's a pretty nice view.
Was excited to try this place, had a reservation for 5, but was very disappointed with the food. Over cooked the tiger prawns, oysters and clams in seafood paella, also the prawns were not cleaned, loaded full of nasty stuff!! The fish and chips were ok...honestly Shady's Island right next door has better food!! They clean their prawns before cooking them!! For the price The Blue Canoe charges for the food you would expect a lot better! Will not be going back or recommending to anyone!
