Blue Canoe Waterfront Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was initially a very good restaurant but the food quality declined over the last few years. We recently decided to give it another try after reviewing the current menu. I had the sliders which were very dry. My wife had the chicken salad which lacked dressing. Not bad food but not excellent. The service was attentive and the ambiance is the best in Steveston.
I love coming here as it has a great view and it's close to where I live . I have been coming here for years . I was a little disappointed the last time as the service was slow and it wasn't that busy . Also they took amazing things off the menu which I was shocked about . 3 things that were so popular for years . The Brussel sprouts , the crab and avocado sandwich and the lobster macaroni . It's too bad as those items were great . Other than that I still like coming here to eat for the view but I'll have to find some where else to go for the Brussel sprouts . :(
very bad experience! At first we were seated under a heater and you feel yourself life a chicken being roasted. Then we asked to move inside. Waitress was not happy as she needed to do extra work. Then the Mussel was not fresh and hot. Soup was not hot neither. Will not recommend at all
Really mediocre food and quite expensive for what it was. Would have probably enjoyed more on a sunny summer day then on a rainy cold October day given the location at Fisherman's Wharf. But still the food should have been way better for what they were charging. Between the two of us we had 2 cups of tea (grocery store variety nothing fancy or well presented), one order of fish and chips and one salad (that was supposed to be meal size but was really just an appetizer). Bill before tip was $46.00 which is a lot for bland food in small portions. Would not go back.
Typically I love this restaurant. On this particular evening they fell short. We sent the fried oyster appetizer back, service was very slow and food was just ok. I was disappointed that they took certain items off the menu, such as the Brussels sprouts. I'd go back because overall I love this restaurant and like to bring visiting friends and family.
I brought some out of town colleagues to Blue Canoe so they could enjoy the views and catch the sunset over the water. We managed to snag a patio table right over the water which gave us the best view (although most of the seating has water views). The hostesses were very welcoming and accommodating of our seating request.
We ordered soups (cauliflower + chowder)... we all commented that they needed some spice to flavour it up, but the chowder had lots of fresh seafood in it which was nice. The seafood platter was quite fantastic and great for sharing with the three of us.
Service was good overall, although the server was very rushed and not overly engaging, but I chalked it up to him be really busy.
Great experience, great location, my colleagues loved the choice!
I've grown up in Steveston, and lived there for 26 years. Last year I moved out to South Surrey, and I don't normally drive in to Steveston much. I went to Blue Canoe a few nights ago for a girls dinner (it's always been a favourite restaurant of mine in Steveston). Although prices are a bit expensive, the food is always amazing so I feel the price is worth it! Great service, great staff, great drinks, great food. All around a great evening!
Had a reservation but line up to check in was so long by the time we were helped the couple ahead of us in line without a reservation got seated on the patio and we were inside (even though we had requested the patio). I realize outdoors cannot be guaranteed but there was a free table at the exact time of our reservation and we did not get it. That aside, both bar drinks were disappointing (you don't serve a Moscow mule in a glass, you use a copper mug). Food was average at best and overpriced for what we got. We left feeling disappointed and do not plan to return.
