Blue by Eric Ripert at The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman Ratings and Reviews
This could have been one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. Service was off the charts and the food was incredible. Pedro and his partner (I can't remember his name) made the night. If you are on Grand Cayman and are looking for a special occasion place you have to try it.
Flawless from start to finish. I can’t do justice to the detail of the food preparation and wine pairings. I opted to do the premium pairing, and the sommelier asked my particular wine preferences and styles and tailored around the entire meal. I did the Ripert tasting, but made a few small adjustments. This place is every bit of a 2/3 Michelin Stat quality. There was even a handwritten thank you note from my servers under my door by the time I returned to my room.
This was the best meal I ever had. A friend and I had the Eric Ripert seven course tasting menu - everything was beyond incredible. I have a shellfish allergy and the restaurant was completely accommodating. Our servers, Michael and Pedro were wonderful and I will remember the conch dish and scallop dish forever 🤗
Outstanding food and attentive (but not at all obtrusive) service. Great local ingredients and wonderful wine pairing. We've been to Eric Ripert's Le Bernardin in Manhattan so were prepared for excellence, and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was perfect and we just happened to be there when the entire hotel was booked for a special outdoor beachfront dinner, so we practically had the entire place to ourselves! Overall a delightful evening.
My husband and I are no strangers to fine dining or Eric Ripert. Living in NY has afforded us the numerous opportunities of fine dining, including in Eric Ripert's well-known and world-famous Le Bernardin, and its neighbors EMP (best in the world), Daniel, Jean Georges, etc. Blue was actually what attracted us most to Grand Cayman and to stay at the Ritz Carlton - and our thoughts were confirmed by this unforgettable dining experience. As a fish eater and seafood lover, Eric Ripert is one of my top three favorite chefs, and Blue delivered beyond our highest expectations in every way. It was unusual to see children at the restaurant, albeit well-behaved ones (and this is not a criticism, just an observation worth mentioning in case whoever is reading this is a type that frowns upon children's presence in such establishments). The restaurant is elegant, and the dishes are exquisite - the usual Eric Ripert flair from start to finish, mouth watering reductions, sauces, and emulsions, perfect foam and caviar, delicious shell fish and white fish filets. If I had to criticize something it would be that both fish filet we had were on the dry side, unusual for Eric. But he was not in the kitchen that night, so it's not really fair to blame him. Overall from start to finish it was a more relaxed (although certainly not casual) experience than Le Bernardin without sacrificing quality, and the cocktails as well as the food were noteworthy to say the least.
Go in with you mind open as the food is unique and different flavors than you may expect. Service was awesome. The Blue tasting menu suited us best and was terrific. The Tuna course was the only good but uninspired of the 6. We started with the Tuna-Foie Gras which is a must. if you get an "egg" as a pre-dessert "gift", it will be the best thing you have ever eaten. Must go. Expensive. Crazy expensive. But you are on vacation!
Blue lived up to its reputation! We were at the Ritz celebrating our 15th anniversary and Blue was the perfect place to enjoy it. Blue marked the special occasion by serving us complimentary champagne when we were seated. We had the Bue tasting menu and everything was delicious - creative, flavorful and perfectly presented. The chef was able to accommodate my gluten and corn-free diet and even had delicious gluten-free bread. Our waiter Pedro was delightful. The only criticism was that the pacing was a bit slow, but we attributed that to the more relaxed resort vibe in Grand Cayman versus New York.
Exceptional fine dining experience received from the moment we arrived to when the waiter overheard I was cold & gave me a shawl. The four course meal was incredible along with the wine selection. I was also impressed in how well the waiters were in sink with one another. I felt as if we were dining in the South of France at a Chateau:)
"Phenomenal" is the only word to describe the elegant decor, soothing ambiance, fine service, incredible food preparation and exquisite presentation!
Enjoyed the Blue tasting menu ~ thinly pounded tuna with fois gras, grilled octopus and the monk fish. Ended with a trio of sorbets and French press coffee.
Must do dining experience ~ worth the indulgence! Go!
We went for the tasting menu and dinner quickly became an event. Easily the best meal we had while in the island. Service was incredible and VeeJay took the time to explain each dish and allowed us to take a picture of the wine bottles used for the wine pairing.
