Truly and outstanding experience..
We have dined at Blue several times in the past, as well as at Le Bernardin many times. As always, the food was spectacular. Always something special. On this visit, however, the service left much to be desired. For Blue/Le Bernardin, that is a rare misstep, as their service often equals their food. We were seated promptly, and the waiter immediately brought over the menus. We looked at them for a few moments, and he returned and asked if we had any questions. I asked if I could see the wine list and cocktail menu. Seemed odd that I had to ask. He brought them right over, and again asked if we had any questions about the menu. As we felt somewhat rushed, we ordered a cocktail and glass of wine. He left, momentarily to put in the order for the drinks, and then returned and asked if we were ready to order. Finally, I had to say that we'd like to get our drinks, and think about the menu for a few minutes. This all occurred within the first 10 minutes of being seated. In short, we felt very rushed. Once this all got settled, the remainder of the meal proceeded at a very good pace, although we had to motion to the waiter on two or three occasions to ask for another glass of wine. The restaurant was not more that half full, so I do not believe they were looking to turn the table over. One expects better from this restaurant. We will certainly visit again when in Cayman, and hopefully, this misstep was a one-off occurrence.
My husband and I dined at Blue while on vacation. We chose the 6 course tasting menu. Every course was amazing! Very creative, extremely fresh ingredients and delicious! My husband doesn't love seafood as much as I do however he was just as pleased with all the courses. The service was 5-star as was the wine pairing (optional / extra cost) that we chose. The presentation of each course was exquisite as well. I would highly recommend Blue for a once in a lifetime experience. The cost overall was very pricey ~$800 USD for the two of us with the wine pairings and was definitely the most expensive meal we've had to date, however it was worth it for a one time experience.
My wife and I enjoyed a unique and wonderful meal. We each ordered four courses from the ala carte menu, and enjoyed them all. I had the Dover Sole as my main course and it was the highlight of the meal. The fish was delicious and the accompanying sauce was extraordinary. We raved about it and were given a copy of the recipe.
The service was impeccable - all were professional, personable and friendly. It is an expensive meal, but an unparalleled experience.
We enjoyed the six course tasting menu along with wine pairings. The dining room was dimly lit and romantic, the booths for two provided a nice view of the room. The service was phenomenal (Michael our server and Will the Sommelier), and the wine pairings were perfectly matched to the dishes. The seafood was tender and delicate, the sauce flavors complimentary. We particularly enjoyed the pasta with lobster, king crab, and truffle butter paired with a nice crisp sauvignon blanc and the bread crusted snapper paired with an incredible Oregon Pinot Noir. This was a special occasion and the calibre of the restaurant was outstanding. Thank you!
This place is phenomenal! Each dish was unique and delicious in its own way. The service was impeccable and the drinks were superb. The amount of preparation that went into each dish was amazing. My husband and I thought it was one of the best meals we have ever had in our lives. Although the meal was not cheap it was worth every penny!
World class. Period. Cuisine, service, wine list, ambiance, everything. We had the chef’s choice pre fix menu and it was spectacular. And to top it off, chef Eric Ripert was at the resort as part of the Cayman Cookout. We had our picture made with him—what a treat!
This could have been one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. Service was off the charts and the food was incredible. Pedro and his partner (I can't remember his name) made the night. If you are on Grand Cayman and are looking for a special occasion place you have to try it.
Flawless from start to finish. I can’t do justice to the detail of the food preparation and wine pairings. I opted to do the premium pairing, and the sommelier asked my particular wine preferences and styles and tailored around the entire meal. I did the Ripert tasting, but made a few small adjustments. This place is every bit of a 2/3 Michelin Stat quality. There was even a handwritten thank you note from my servers under my door by the time I returned to my room.
This was the best meal I ever had. A friend and I had the Eric Ripert seven course tasting menu - everything was beyond incredible. I have a shellfish allergy and the restaurant was completely accommodating. Our servers, Michael and Pedro were wonderful and I will remember the conch dish and scallop dish forever 🤗
Outstanding food and attentive (but not at all obtrusive) service. Great local ingredients and wonderful wine pairing. We've been to Eric Ripert's Le Bernardin in Manhattan so were prepared for excellence, and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was perfect and we just happened to be there when the entire hotel was booked for a special outdoor beachfront dinner, so we practically had the entire place to ourselves! Overall a delightful evening.
My husband and I are no strangers to fine dining or Eric Ripert. Living in NY has afforded us the numerous opportunities of fine dining, including in Eric Ripert's well-known and world-famous Le Bernardin, and its neighbors EMP (best in the world), Daniel, Jean Georges, etc. Blue was actually what attracted us most to Grand Cayman and to stay at the Ritz Carlton - and our thoughts were confirmed by this unforgettable dining experience. As a fish eater and seafood lover, Eric Ripert is one of my top three favorite chefs, and Blue delivered beyond our highest expectations in every way. It was unusual to see children at the restaurant, albeit well-behaved ones (and this is not a criticism, just an observation worth mentioning in case whoever is reading this is a type that frowns upon children's presence in such establishments). The restaurant is elegant, and the dishes are exquisite - the usual Eric Ripert flair from start to finish, mouth watering reductions, sauces, and emulsions, perfect foam and caviar, delicious shell fish and white fish filets. If I had to criticize something it would be that both fish filet we had were on the dry side, unusual for Eric. But he was not in the kitchen that night, so it's not really fair to blame him. Overall from start to finish it was a more relaxed (although certainly not casual) experience than Le Bernardin without sacrificing quality, and the cocktails as well as the food were noteworthy to say the least.
