Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant
Always quality food. Whatever the selections for the day are a good bet. Would reccomend.
Special romantic lunch, part of weekend with my Wife!
Excellent quality. Consistantly meets the highest expectations.
It turned out to be Prix Fixe Menu night which we hadn't expected when booking, but the selections offered were more than adequate, and sometimes it's easier not to have too many choices. The food was excellent and table service friendly and efficient. I would have given 5 stars for service and overall experience but for the unsmiling, dare I say peremptory, hostess who was impatient with the fact that we couldn't find a parking space when we didn't realize there was a parking lot across the street. Her "welcome" when we arrived set the tone for the evening which was fortunately saved by the wait staff.
We did find the lighting a bit subdued - a table light or candle would have cheered up the ambience.
The prix fixe menu was great value, although we would have liked to see more choice in wines by the glass. Regardless we will be back on an evening when the full menu is available.
Wonderful, memorable meal. The food was beautifully prepared. Delicious.
Food was good, but not quite up to the usual standards.
The fondue appetizer was excellent and a great start to the meal. It was quite filling and we ended up splitting a main course, which was plenty of food. The schnitzel was also excellent.
We took our children for Sunday Brunch this past Sunday. The waiter was kind, but the other waitress was rude and unhelpful. My boys would say "please" and "thank you" and she would just walk away! Trying to teach manners is difficult when adults don't use their manners. The muffins and bread were extremely dry and crumbly. No refills were offered for our juice and decaf coffee. We took our dessert home and opened the container to find that each eclair was cut in half!? For the price, I'm pretty sure we could each have our own eclair. Overall, disappointing and will likely not return
A must on your list of places to eat. Atmosphere and food are excellent.
Food was good service was better then most would have expected better for the type of restaurant.
Low score on atmospher however.
They need to turn the lights down a few notches and light some candles I felt like I was sitting in a cafeteria with ALL of the lights turned up to full
Food was good portion sizes were exactly what you would expect at any Utah restaurant HUGE.
Salmon was good but clearly not fresh.
Overall I would recommend this place to friends for a unique dining experience and a good date night
The Blue is a special treat and on our must do list with each trip to the Wasatch. Ambiance is unique, but the chef is as good as it gets in the region. It’s always a special occasion, but this trip exceeded our high expectations.
Excellent quality food and service. Very consistant experience at the Blue Boar.
Wonderful evening with fantastic food, service and ambiance!
The food was delicious, S'mores trifle dessert was marvelous, cappuccino was made to order, and we could carry on a quiet conversation in a well attended restaurant.
Very quaint restaurant
Lovely atmosphere, very good food and service
Great atmosphere and overall experience. The food is always fresh and well prepared. The service is personal and attentive
My wife and I drove up for an anniversary dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance and food. Our service was a bit off and we had to ask for things a couple of times, but that wasn’t the experience we noticed for other tables. The fondue was outstanding. The salads were likewise amazing. The fillet and salmon were perfectly cooked. And the mac and cheese was the best I’ve ever, ever had.
Fondue is always excellent. Every course we choose has exceeded taste and presentation expectations. Only problem we had is our server forgot to put in a dish order, then disappeared right before the end of our meal. Not our first visit and will not be our last.
The staff is quite professional and the food and ambiance great. Great place for celebrations and important occasions.
The food is OUTSTANDING!! It is expensive, but great for a special occasion. I’ve been twice and will come back!
Everything was great except the beef was a little tough.
The ham and bean soup was delicious, and the entres were good, though they lacked some flavor. I was pleased, but not overly impressed with those. The service was great and so was the ambiance. Overall a good experience.
This is a great option for people living around Midway area, for us did not worth the drive from south salt lake city.
The service was very good, everyone smiling and being nice (except the host)
We had a "fix menu":
- The starter was soup, very tasty and full strong flavours.
- The entrees were meat and chicken, nothing that we will remember tomorrow.
- The dessert was cheesecake, very good.
We love the blue boar Inn! The ambience is charming service is impeccable and the food is always delicious!
Awesome ambiance and food!
Excellent food. Great restaurant and very unique
Underwhelmed - won’t be hurrying back...
We had another great meal at the Blue Boar Inn. The food was excellent, service was very good and the atmosphere was wonderful. It's a little pricy and we usually go for our anniversary. Everything about it is special. Highly recommend.
Excellent food as always. Quiet atmosphre this time of year.
love this place.. great getaway...
the service, setting , food...everything is what you;d expect for a exceptional stay.
we stayed here a year ago... and it was the same great experience.
Birthday dinner celebration. Excellent food and service. We were only ones there tonight so should have been great and it was!
We always love eating at the Blue Boar Inn! The beautiful atmosphere and delicious food are definitely worth the drive!
My favorite meal is the Sunday brunch, but I have never been disappointed with lunch or dinner.
The building is beautiful and the scenery of the amazing wasatch mountains and midway are breathtaking. We eat here every time we stay in Midway.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is excellent and everyone is really friendly.
So glad my out of state guests and I made the drive! Fabulous food, wine and service, spectacular Fall scenery, in this quaint country Inn. Can’t wait to return ... hopefully for an overnight stay!
Great atmosphere, service and food. At high quality experience
We’ve been going to Blue Boar regularly for over 10 years. The executive chef may be the best chef in the West, if not the country. The restaurant is definitely expensive, but we think the food is well worth the cost. Ambience is quiet, warm and cozy. This restaurant is made for an un-rushed, luxurious experience. Service is just average though; servers are all very friendly, but really are not helpful on wine pairings or helping with menu selections. Table server etiquette and protocol is really substandard. We’d expect better for an establishment this great. Still, we keep coming back. This place is outstanding. Try the lamb!
Just always a unique and perfect experience when we go. The food is the best we have had no matter where we have traveled.
Food was bland and overpriced for quality. Ambience is great and the people are nice, but someone needs to have a chat with the kitchen. Rice pudding was served on a PLATE, reminiscent of assisted living cafeteria, and was so bland that one of our party emptied a sugar packet into it. Same could be said of salt and a French dip.
We've been here several times and have enjoyed the food and service. Our last trip was a bit of a letdown as the service wasn't up to the usual bar of excellence. The only other concern was their Swedish Meatballs (which are usually amazing) were a bit overcooked and tough. The ambiance is still incredible and despite the minor disappointment with our last visit, we will go again.
