Great well prepared natural foods! Including buffalo
This was my second time dining at Blue Bird Bistro, and it certainly will NOT be my last. Both the food and service are exceptional. We were having a hard time deciding between 3 entrees on the menu so we asked our server for a recommendation. She did not disappoint, although I think anything we would have ordered would have been delicious. The custom cocktails were amazing. They found a way to infuse fresh cilantro with vodka to produce an amazing strawberry lemon aid.
This is one of my favorite restaurants.
Another great meal at Bluebird! Always well thought and prepared food. Service is excellent and knows about the food as well. Typically quiet and great atmosphere with friends or date night.
The food is delicious and eclectic. Two of our party are on the Keto diet, one of whom is vegetarian; and, we all found ample options for every taste. I had the Blue Bird Salad with a large portion of salmon, which was delicious. We had already been there a few times, and we will be back again and again.
Went for brunch. No bacon, salmon or plates.
Biscuits and gravy was pulled pork and no gravy.
My husband and I were in town for a wedding reception, and we were exited to find a free table at the restaurant for Easter brunch before we drove back home. We appreciated the little details, like crispy edges around a fried egg, and baking some texture into the pancakes.
The whole experience was great, and we’ll definitely be back.
Great! We had such an enjoyable time! Truly, truly enjoyable!
We've had many good experiences at The Blue Bird Bistro. The food and service is consistently good to above average. They have an adequate wine list and tempting cocktail offerings. This time we say on the bench with a table in the corner of the bench. It was a cozy spot but the benches could certainly use recovering a bit more padding for those of us who lack our own padding.
Atmosphere and service was good. However, the food was not good. The waitress said an entree was not spicy/hot and when I tasted it, it was so hot that I could not feel my mouth or taste anything. When I mentioned this, they offered to prepare it again and make it milder. It still was extremely hot and I could not eat it. My husbands black bean burger was not done. My son's dish was also extremely spicy and not edible. My son and husband did not say anything to the waitress about their dishes. In addition, my glass of wine tasted like it was old and my son's coke was flat and he had to ask for a new one. We were excited that they had non-meat items and gluten/dairy free items and wanted to like it, but food was very disappointing.
We loved the Bluebird Bistro. We met extended family there and had a darling room in the back to ourselves. The food was excellent and high quality. We were looking for something healthy that would meet a large variety of dietary needs. Bluebird fit the bill. We will be back.
Took my mother here for her birthday. It was great that she could get a half order of eggs Benedict because she cannot eat that much and most meals out are huge. We had the green curry which was fabulous.
The service was good but the food was only average. Somewhat disappointing.
Devin was a great waitress! Fancy pancakes were yummy!
For the food, I would make a couple of changes to how my dish was cooked. It was a lovely catfish filet with kale under it (my choice, instead of rice), but the kale was under-cooked and way too chewy, and the cook did not even bother to take the spines or stems off, leaving big chunks of wood-like, un-chewable pieces attached to the slices. This is simply laziness—or maybe just not caring? Kale should be stemmed and cooked in a way that it doesn’t take forever to chew it. Other than that everything was really good.
This past New Year's Eve some friends and I did a big group dinner here, and the same group met up for brunch because we loved it so much the first time around. The food is just incredible (hooray for many vegetarian options on the menu), the space is gorgeous and welcoming, and the volume level is perfect in that you're easily able to hold a conversation over the music. So looking forward to coming here again and again.
The food and service were amazing. The physical restaurant needs some attention. It is showing age and lacking in décor.
We asked for a good table upstairs. they sat us downstairs near the kitchen. The lighting was a little bright for a fine-dining experience. There was fluorescent light coming from the kitchen.
One of the better restaurants in Kansas City, great food and service, neat area of town.
We had a great server (Zach), who ensured that we had a great experience. Food was amazing. Definitely will return.
Went for Valentine's day, had a limited menu. Waited 1 hr 50 min for food to arrive. Cost for value of meal didn't quite add up. Probably skip it for dinner in the future. Brioche French Toast Is good though during brunch.
Always a lovely experience.
My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day at the Blue Bird and enjoyed it. My wife remarked that she is normally leery of Valentine's with the throngs all packing the restaurants, but we were both pleased to feel a mellow vibe at the Blue Bird that didn't feel crowded or busy even with all the tables full. Great food, healthy and local. Love the tin ceiling and tile floor. Service was attentive but not hassling us every 5 minutes to top off our water glasses. Thanks Blue Bird!
Excellent food and service. Devin was our server and she was a pleasure!
They did have a few vegetarian choices which was appreciated. After ordering, it took a long time for the food to arrive. For some reason kitchen smoke filled the dining area which was odd as this restaurant has ambience it seems like they are trying to create a nice atmosphere inside. Was disappointed
We went there for the restaurant week, but ended up ordering regular brunch dishes. They were very good. Cozy, cute interior and great service. The only complain is the poor ventilation in the kitchen (we smelled like food by the time we walked out of the restaurant) But we will go back again for the great food.
Fabulous dining with local farm products! Great proportions and stylish wines/drinks. Great, courteous, prompt Service!
Our girls group went for restaurant week, so we got to try some things we normally wouldn’t order. It was a a great experience, even with a few of the menu items not available during our visit. None of us had been here before, but we would go back again if in the area or with a planned outing.
Vegan meals on the menu were not prepared correctly, therefore it took over an hour to get our food. We had a show to go to after dinner so we had to eat quickly and leave.
The manager did give a nice discount for the food taking a long time.
Blue bird salad was excellent and our waiter fantastic! Great ambiance and would love to return for more menu options. Grass fed beef was very tasty. Excellent breakfast and brunch items to try soon. Yummy vegan oatmeal cookie! Would love to go back again. Girlfriend and I stayed for a couple of hours chatting over lunch and never felt rushed.
My husband and I really enjoyed the creative, delicious and locally sourced dishes, superb service and quant ambiance. The pork shank was the best my husband had ever eaten.
They were sensitive about my food allergies and weren’t put out when I asked about ingredients. I enjoyed their blue feather drink. Everyone enjoyed their food and we were able to have intimate conversations without feeling rushed out the door.
Food was wonderful and fresh. Highly recommend. The waistress was the BEST!!
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. The restaurant was busy, so the staff was a little stressed and disorganized. The salmon was a bit overcooked and the presentation of my bison was not eye-appealing. But the food was very tasty and the sauces for both the salmon and bison complimented those dishes very well.
They had some issues the night we went. They were running behind to begin with and even with reservations, it took a long time to get seated, order and get our food. We ended up having to rush ourselves and run to the Symphony so we wouldn't miss our ticket time. My salmon was overcooked and everything was kind of bland. A woman sitting next to us had a chicken breast brought out that was raw in the middle and instead of taking the whole plate of food, they only took the chicken to cook more. I don't think that is good policy with a food like chicken. She didn't want to eat the part that it had been sitting on, which I don't blame her. We were sat right next to a storage area where they actually had to have my husband move in the middle of our dinner. They kept going back into that area and it was very distracting. It was disappointing to have our anniversary dinner here. I imagine every night isn't that way, but I don't think we'll ever be back.
Fantastic entrees but not served hot. Busy night and service team a bit overwhelmed. Potentially perfect, just not this time.
Fabulous dining with local farm products! Great proportions and stylish wines/drinks.
Very good food. Kind server. Adorable neighborhood. Extremely tiny kitchen + big menu = don’t be in a hurry.
I very much enjoyed my first time at Blue Bird during KC Restaurant Week. The ambiance inside was nice, servers were friendly and the food was good. Loved having all the organic, local, and seasonal options. Good can be healthy and still taste great! I was there for lunch but I saw people around me eating breakfast food and it looked fantastic so I look forward to coming again and trying breakfast.
I’ve been here twice now and I love everything about it! Super cute, amazing food, awesome service! Can’t beat it.
No acknowledgment for Birthday even though reservation indicated so. It was FREEZING in the restaurant. Salad was dressed to the point of soggy. Tomato soup was like marinara.
