Blue Agave - State Street Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had a joint bachelor/bachelorette party at Blue Agave, and everything was perfect. Our table for 20 was set up when we walked in, and our waiter with two assistant waiters kept our glasses and chip baskets full. We had a great time and will definitely come back.
Would recommed with reservations. Food was fine, but as previous reviews have mentioned, service was lacking. Pleasant enough waiter took the order for our party of 9 adults and 2 toddlers, delivered the food and then disappeared. Would have ordered another round of drinks had he showed up. Margaritas were ok... NOT great. A bit watered down. We wanted a Mexican place which would be noisy and thus good for the young kids. This fit the bill, but wouldn't rush back. Management: Please note These criticisms easily fixed. You've got a great location and pretty decent food....get with it before you loose your business.
I had great service at Blue Agave and equally great food, not to mention good, strong coffee and an inventive (and strong) margarita. I had shrimp fajita quesadillas, served with cilantro lime rice and borracho beans. The meal was an abundance of food...even without eating the gigantic tortilla in which my shrimp fajita quesadillas were served, I had enough leftovers for a second meal.
Blue Agave provided a very nice dining experience for us. The margaritas were good, the food was fresh and tasty, and our waitress was attentive. The menu is also extensive, something that is hard to find at Mexican restaurants. All that being said, it didn't stick out in my mind as anything mind-blowing. There isn't anything specific that I didn't like about it, but it didn't overly impress me to the point of returning.
We have come here for the last 5 years, but our experience this time was not very good. The food is still great, but we had to wait almost 10 minutes for service or even to be acknowledged by a waiter after being seated. It wasn't hard to find us since there was only one other table of patrons. Two waiters stood talking to each other but we weren't their concern.
We have our doubts about going back. We always give a place a second chance, and probably will.
However, in this economy we really expect to receive better than mediocre service when spending.
Loved the food and ambiance, our server was missing in action. They have awesome margaritas; I would have had another one if our waitress would have been doing her work... By the way, we think their margaritas are overpriced, we ordered ours with Silver Patron and Cointreau $17+each- for two perhaps better order a bottle of wine.
First timer here for this place! Food was very good overall - table side chips and salsa was very good, although the guacamole app needed some salt and spice. Great neighborhood joint when you want to kick back and have a few margaritas; not a place for a romantic dinner for 2. Place seems to mimic a Chevy's restuarant atmosphere with better food. So dress casual and do worry about dressing to impress as you'll look out of place there. I will be going back!
