The place was almost empty yet the service was terrible. The hostess was "covering" for the server which dropped off our drinks and then never came back to take our entree order until we flagged the hostess down again. The server was completely disinterested in tending to her tables. Food was fine...nothing special. I expected better.
Many years ago we lived on the Near North Side and went to Blue Agave many times. We have returned to the area and visited Blue Agave once again. Although the service was good and the prices reasonable -- as they say -- you get what you pay for. The tacos are very average and overall, the food is not very good. In addition, the place really needs to be redecorated after all these years. The decorating is tired and the leather seats on the chairs are worn out. Instantly, you get the impression that the restaurant is not well maintained. A real turn-off. A complete make-over of the restaurant is needed -- including the food!
We will not return.
Food was very good and so were the margaritas!! My only complaint is we were a party of 10 and they were unwilling to split the check the way we needed it. Otherwise it was great!
Could not have been a more perfect night last night. Food was great. Drinks were great and Luke was great. See you soon!
We requested outodor seating. Though there was clearly space for larger groups our request was denied because of our supposed large group size. Also it took a very long time for us to get our food even though it wasn't that busy
Always nice to return to an old favorite, tried a special drink from the happy hour menu!
I really enjoyed eating at Blue Agave. The food was fairly priced, good portion sizes and most importantly made my taste buds sing. I got the carne asade tacos on a corn tortilla.... soooooo good. The drinks were delicious and strong. And most importantly the service was impeccable. If you're in the area i definitely recommend trying Blue Agave.
the food was horrible. Could not eat because of too much fat. The restaurant soda gun wasnt working and they tried giving people sprite in their drinks without saying anything about the broken beverage gun. I will never go again. I live in the neighborhood
Waited over an hour for food only to find out our order got lost. Once
We love it there. We go there all the time!
It was extremely hot and humid on the inside. The server could’ve put us on the second level what was Cooler. I have a feeling that you just didn’t wanna take the extra steps to go up the stairs. When I asked for two shots of tequila, the bartender gave us two and even shot glasses one had ice in it! I asked for limes For the shots and she handed them to me and her but your hand! So gross! Not even a napkin she hinted to me as if she was handing me coins. Never again!
Had high hopes however immediately disappointed in hostess with attitude. Very hot inside, very tightly packed, loud, no silverware or napkins table soaking wet asked repeatedly for napkins they were behind in rolling hence the wait however please bring us something meanwhile. Chicken was dry and tasteless. Rice dried out, one dish came out very late, others done with meal. Positives were chips and salsa and a nice waiter.
Excellent food and great margs. This was my four time visiting the Blue Agave in the last 12 years and will continue to visit each time I’m in Chicago, love this place!
Short staffed ... was not our waitress’ fault.
Extremely long wait- had to close out and leave before we could order food. Margarita was terrible(pre made mix). Very intoxicated girl at the table next to us... should not have been continually served alcohol. Made for a terrible experience.
The food was really great. The service not so much. Had to wait a long time for drinks. Had to remind the waiter who looked annoyed, and blamed it on the bar. This was nearly 25 mins after we ordered them
Great for a birthday! Must ask for Luke... he’s amazing!!
For the neighborhood, this restaurant is a good value with generous portions and reasonable prices although prefer Mexican food with spicier sauces and less salt. Staff was friendly and service was prompt and attentive.
One person at my table did not get our food until everyone had finished eating and we were signing the check. We got the burrito for free but still unacceptable.
Everyone in my group got sick due to the heat. I don’t know if the air conditioner wasn’t working, or what.
The food was either lukewarm or cold. Even when we sent it back. The manager came over and helped but the food still was below standard.
Loved our experience at Blue Agave. Chunky guacamole was amazing as was the House Margarita. Delish!! I had the shrimp fajitas and they were the best I've ever had! It was pretty noisy for us old folks, but great just the same. We were heading to the Porchlight Theater right around the corner so it was PERFECT!! We got in and out in an hour with time to spare. I should have had another margarita.
The food was great and service was impeccable. We had generous entres, a bottle of wine, and dessert for $52 first 2 people (not counting the tip.)
Well I made reservations for my birthday, but when I came in and told them the name on my reservation they told me they were so busy it would be another hour. This was my birthday dinner with 10 others. We had to find another place to accommodate us and the staff was pretty rude. So sad since I’ve been a patron for 15 years!
Cinco de Mayo! We had such a great time. Would love to see a monthly fiesta. So much fun!!
Carlos and all the staff did a excellent job!!
Customers should be warned when reserving that on Cinco de Mayo there is only a "special " menu and blasting noise.
Worse service I have ever experienced!
Try the fresh guacamole
The food was bland and uninteresting. Needs updating in a thoughtful way.
Always a great time! Their house 3G margaritas are a must! Love their homemade salsa, queso and guac too!
Service was very poor we used to come here all the time service has never been this bad
Excellent accueil et service. De belles saveurs et un cadre sympa. Brillant.
food was average Mexican food. Entrees are overpriced, but the plates are huge. Drinks are cheap for the gold coast, expensive for a Mexican restaurant. Noise was too much, seemed more like a club than a restaurant.
Best best salsa I have ever had! We live in the southsuburbs and I like to get there as often as I can! I brought a group of me and 4 friends because I have been raving about this place to them! My favorite chicken tortilla soup I have ever had as well! My only complaint would be a fresher margarita maybe something with more fresh lime juice not so concentrated.
Service remains a problem.
We all ordered tortilla soup and it delivered with our entrees
Meeting friends from around the country here for a convention
Good food.....extremely noisy
Service was excellent
Drinks were excellent
Terrible service. We were a group of 16. Hardly saw the waiter, multiple orders were messed up, mediocre food. And they couldn't split the bill up.
Great place to go to get good food, nothing fancy. Just good standard Mexican food, with delicious margaritas that don’t skimp on the tequila.
