My 1st there. Took a client & turned out to be one of their favorites already. Great service by Luis. Chips & salsa excellent. I can see how it would be fun after sunset. Will go again.
The food was excellent!!! The home made chips had the right amount of spice on it. The Gucamole was very flavorful! The dinner meals that the four of us had was great. Not the restaurant fault it i had to search for open parking in the area. If the city/restaurants could work with the other businesses that are closed after hours (e.g. 5:00 pm) to utilize their parking lots, would help out a lot. Maybe the restaurants could add a $1 to each meal to cover cost of other business parking use. (Just a thought that could be explored). We will return to Blue Agave much more after this. .....and bring friends too!
The food was just ok. The prices were very high for Mexican food. Almost $30 for chicken enchiladas is steep.
The restaurant is in a good location and I love the patio dining.
We took our mom for lunch on Mother’s Day. The outdoor seating is very nice. The service was just OK. We ordered two, what we thought warehouse margaritas. He didn’t ask us to specify nor did he ask if we want it blended or on the rocks. When they came they were in these small wine glasses. When the bill came, we were shocked that they were $12.50 apiece! I ordered the agave bowl from the lunch menu. It described it as it comes in a large bowl with rice black beans grilled veggies and something else. You can add some meat to it for six and seven dollars extra. They were right that it came in a large bowl, but there was barely any food in it. I guess my main gripe is they are very overpriced for what you get, and the margaritas were lacking in size, yet again overpriced.
Lovely dining experience for my friends who were new to the area, and had not had the chance to visit Main Street for dining. They loved the restaurant, food choices and great service.
Cinco de mayo with friends!
We had a great Cinco De Mayo dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Pleasanton. The meal is always excellent and different than the everyday Mexican faire. Found another favorite waiter - Jesus. Very attentive and personable. Julio is our other favorite server since we first found Blue Agave upon moving to Pleasanton in 1997.
Love it! Especially outside and the great service!!
We celebrated two birthdays in nicely shaded patio table near brick wall of adjoining building about ten feet from Main street. Food and service were excellent and sangria was best I have had in a long time and just the right size. It was Cinco de Mayo and recorded music was terrific and not too loud.
this is our go to for margaritas in the tri valley area
Great food as usual And the atmosphere was great
nice spot for a casual dinner with friends-good food and friendly staff
Overall good first experience. The area we were in was secluded from other customers, I like to be around people. The seating area was dimly lit. Server was great.
! Revisited after 10 years and having experienced much better Mexican restaurants in San Francisco for both food and ambience , am not impressed and definitely not returning ! Price too steep for food quality and ambience !
Excellent food and service
We had a group of 20 friends and family for Easter Brunch! It was amazing, the staff is incredible, the food was awesome and we felt that we were the most special customers that the Blue Agave had in the restaurant. We were not rushed to leave. I would highly recommend the Blue Agave Club for any events, small or large. Excellent service!
Good service. Food very plain and bland. Not worth what you pay for it.
We always like it here... steady good food... It was a bit noisy this time and the service was hurried and a bit disappointing.
My wife just loved her surprise birthday dinner. We had our favorite table for two with the best view of Main Street. Our waiters were very friendly and cordial. The margaritas were very tasty but not overpowering. My wife had Enchiladas Vegetarianas and I had Enchiladas del Mar. Both entrees were very good and flavorful but not too spicy.
After dinner, all of the waiters came to our table and surprised my wife with the Agave Flan dessert. The waiters began singing her Happy Birthday with the guests nearest us, joining in. It was a wonderful ending to an awesome Birthday celebration for my beautiful wife.
High end Mexican food with regional specialties from all over Mexico. Sauces on dishes are remarkably good and unique around the area. Excellent selection of Margaritas with something for everyone's taste. Definitely specialize in tequilas here. Helpful, attentive, friendly staff.
Was in town from east coast and met my siblings at Blue Agave for a mini reunion. The restaurant staff was very accommodating to our multi-generational group. The food was great and the service fabulous!! My family and I had time to catch up over a leisurely meal and never felt rushed.
We (16 people) celebrated my daughter’s first wedding anniversary at this restaurant and all of us had a wonderful time. We got a cozy room to ourselves. Our guests loved the margaritas and the tequilas ; Anejo being the popular one... The food was tasty and quality of food was excellent: light on stomach! Tres Leche cake was marvelous too!! Service was friendly. We will cherish this memory of a cheerful dining experience!!!
After many years, still my favorite restaurant in the East Bay. Tortilla soup is the greatest soup of any kind I have ever had. Margarita list is massive and they are all so smooth. It's better sitting outside but inside is nice too if it's cold out. It took a little while to get seated and served this time, but that's about the only non-positive comment I can make
Special nostalgic location. I had dinner there with a dear friend who has now passed away. Very fond memories, nice to return.
Carnitas was excellent, Margaritas are also superb with many high quality Tequilla's.
Seating is mostly outside under heaters, can be a bit cool but nice ambience.
My wife and I enjoyed a Valentines dinner together. Margaritas were excellent. My steak was tasty and my wife had several vegetarian choices on the menu. Bar was a little noisy but fun.
It was a quick eat and leave kind of experience but the staff was very friendly and the food was good, we will come back again :)
Food sucks! Pricey!
Love the historic building and feel of this restaurant.
My biggest disappointment was I thought the serving sizes were small for the cost, and for Mexican cuisine.
This is one of our family's favorite special occasion places, and not so special occasions! Service is always wonderful, the waiters make us feel special each time, the food is excellent, and the margaritas are fabulous!
Super over-priced for what you get. No a la carte menu whatsoever. A friend ordered a chicken enchilada and got some deconstructed awful mess resembling NOTHING like an enchilada. With that said, there are some special feature entrees that were pretty good. Again though, way too expensive. There are great Mexican options that will run you less than 1/2 of our bill.
I almost broke my toe outside on their brick walkway on the side of house/restaurant. I was obviously in a lot of pain and the manager never came by to see if I was ok the waiter seemed concerned. It just seems a little loose as far as how the run the place. I came for chili Colorado they don't have it anymore can you believe that. I had the mole it wasn't anything to write home about. I think they buy it and not make it there. The mole sauce is a long process to be excellent, there's was ok needed more characters Chen and less sauce. My wife bowl seemed kinda small for the price. I don't think I'll return.
Service was very very poor
Had the house margarita and it was horrible, no taste, Food was bland and expensive.
Food was good but not good enough to make us go back after the service we got. We were sat immediately, margarita came quickly as did the food. THEN... Our table was left alone after dinner for 30 min before someone popped their head in and asked if we wanted coffee. Granted it was NYE but the restaurant wasn’t packed by any means. No excuse for paying extra attention to the table with 6 older folks and leaving us wondering if we were going to get the bill ever. Over $100 for the two of us and it was not worth it.
The food was great, but a bit overpriced. The service was great, except one of us ordered a drink that was never delivered, and it was still on our bill (easily corrected when brought to their attention). The inside dining can get quite loud; however, it was holiday party time; they were gracious and offered to moved us to a quieter table. I do love this place, mostly for the good food and the tequila menu. It is especially nice in spring & summer when you can sit outside.
Hostess was very rude on her attitude and comment. i would not recommend it.
Excellent food went for a business dinner highly recommend.
Great food awesome service. My kind of place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.
On this evening, Blue Agave seating was limited to indoor dining. The food was great. The atmosphere was a little tight and loud (energetic). Pricing seemed on the upper end of moderate.
