Great chips and salsa to start. Flexible on sides and preparation. Got the soft tacos and veggies and it was all delicious and too much food. Staff very friendly, patient, and good. So what's not to like?!
New to SW Tex-Mex cuisine, JR's suggestions for food and beverages one recent Friday evening were tremendous. The draft beers were excellent. Thanks for the pre-decision local sampling!
We thoroughly enjoyed the multicolor tortilla chips and salsa varieties. The house made guacamole was excellent. Our entrees had great spice variety and texturing. Even my after dinner decaf was special. JR ensured it was fresh and hot!
I went here with a group of friends and it worked out well. The location is convenient, food decent, service great, and it's just a comfortable place to hang out. The veggie enchiladas are good, though at $16 there should probably be more veggies or maybe some beans or something. They were tasty nonetheless. The salsa and chips are good and they kept coming. The guac and margaritas are good, too. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The place is a little loud inside - they have canned music playing and people can get loud trying to be heard. When it is cool enough, the patio is the best seating if you want to be able to have an easy chat with your table mates. Overall, it was a good experience. We will definitely go again.
Short version: Excellent 4 Corners/Southwestern fare in a casual neighborhood place. Yes we would go back. Longer version: We are from out of town (Florida, Nebraska, and Colorado) so while in Scottsdale for business this place was recommended by our local contacts. Margarita Monday's were a hit with the crew, and so were the big screen TV's. I had the seafood kabobs, others the enchiladas, tamales and various taco plates. Excellent - some of the best Southwestern fare we have had in years. Laurnita - our server - was excellent as well. When in Scottsdale this will be one of our "go-to" places. Yummy!
While there are other Mexican restarants we go to, Blue Adobe Grill is our "spur-of-the-moment go to" Mexican restaurant. Food is always very good and the service is amazing and friendly. We will continue to go when the mood moves us. We took family with us this time & they fully enjoyed their meals.
This is one of our favorite restaurants, nearby our home. Every time we go, we are always very pleased. We bring our out of town guests here for great Southwestern food. Portions are huge, by the way, if you are really hungry.
We first ate at Blue Adobe 7 years ago and were blown away by the amazing food and equally amazing service. Since then, we'Ve made it a point to stop here every time we're in town and it remains our favorite place to eat in Scottsdale.
What a fun restaurant! Live music and a crowded bar make the Blue Adobe Grill a place to go to have a good time. The kitchen produces excellent interpretations of classic dishes, and their salsa alone makes it worth the trip!
We enjoyed the food and the service was great! Went on a weekday and it was crowded and still the service was exceptional. The margaritas are large and a bit pricey but good. Loved the live music! We will go back .
We've eaten here on several occasions. The food never disappoints. The servers are great...the Salmon is fabulous and more!
While visiting AZ our group was looking for Southwest cuisine, and ended up trying Blue Adobe Grille. The food was different, really good and interesting. Our party had everything from traditional enchiladas to lobster mac and cheese, all tasty and presented well. The icing on the evening was the amazing service. I did not catch the name of our server, but he was one of the best waiters I have seen in a while. Unfortunately service can be so mediocre these days, when you get an experience like this you remember.
There was live music the night we went, and though loud, the singer was excellent. The bar was hopping but fortunately, the dining area was slightly less crazy as we dined with our 12 year old son. The food was excellent and an exceptional value compared to the other restaurants in Scottsdale, and I thoroughly recommend this off-the-beaten track restaurant.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the sangria but the food was not good. Except for the quesadillas. They were great service great.
This was my first time at Blue Adobe and I met with a client for lunch. The restaurant was quiet enough to have a serious business discussion without having to raise our voices. The food was very good and the portions were sizable. The servers were very attentive. I will definitely be returning.
The tamales were the standout dish. The pork adobo was not trimmed well and heavily sauced, and the chile relleno was undercooked. Few vegetarian entrees. Our out-of-town guests were not impressed.
Based on reviews we were expecting this to be a hot spot for us. We ordered two of their specialties and honestly disappointed. Food lacked seasoning...pork just tasted like slow cooked pork and my wife did not even finish chicken tacos....which never happens. She said they were super bland. For the price there a looooot better places in the area. Service was great however she was a sweetie and food was crazy fast.
Love the Blue Adobe! They have fabulous Sante Fe and New Mexican dishes that will leave you talking about them for days. Great cooks , great wait staff and awesome prickly pear margaritas. They seriously have the best salsa I have ever eaten. We go every time we are in Scottsdale. Please build one in the west valley!
Food was very good. Service was almost too fast. We were done quicker than I would have liked. If you like New Mexican cuisine, this place was excellent and authentic.
Do your self a favor and stop by for lunch or dinner and get a taco or the entree with the pork adovada. It is unique to New Mexico and an awesome example at Blue Adobe Grill.
Becoming one of my favorite restaurants. Always an excellent experience
Took my daughter to AZ to visit my elderly parents and thought she would enjoy some authentic Tex-Mex and mariachi music. Saw that Blue Adobe had live music and it never occurred to me that it would be a guitarist in the bar. The food was ok, but more Southwest than Tex-Mex, again my fault for not looking more closely at the menu on OpenTable before booking. What set this place apart was the service and I would give it a thousand stars if I could. Our server was outstanding! She was extremely patient with my elderly parents who are somewhat indecisive and unfortunately a little on the messy side. I almost started to cry when she saw my father struggling with a to go container and before I could react, she swooped right in and said in the kindest, most helpful and non-condescending tone "Please, let me help you with that!" Kudos to Blue Adobe for an outstanding service experience that more than made up for the lack of mariachis and Tex-Mex food.
Overall the food was good, but we were expecting something a little more traditional Tex/Mex. the drinks were good and the waiter was very good.... Offering suggestions Nd was able to accurately describe each dish.
If you have way too much money and don't mind wasting it on average food way priced that you can get any where for 1/4 of the price head on over to this place..2 of us went there and had very little food left hungry and had just 3 drinks each bill was 200..
A neighborhood gem! I had the shrimp stuffed chili rellano & lobster tamale. Both were unique & delicious! The cocktails were also eclectic & excellent! The service was friendly & professional. We would definitely eat here again.
server Christa was wonderful - we enjoyed our meal as did our 4 guests. A little disappointed that the kitchen closed before we could order dessert.
The chorizo stuffed chicken was worth coming back. Everything else was pretty good. Service was very good.
This was our first visit to Blue Adobe and we were looking forward to good "new" mexican cuisine. We were very disappointed all the way around. The signature strawberry margarita had little strawberry taste. The lobster appetizer dip had little flavor and we only received a few flour tortillas on top of regular chips. The main entrees, which came out just a few minutes after our appetizer, were suggested by the waitress as signature dishes. They were both very bland. Our waitress was very attentive and was the only positive aspect of our dining. We unfortunately would not return.
Arrived early for our reservation and were seated quickly. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Two of us ordered steak dishes and two ordered salads with grilled chicken. The steaks were cooked to the temperatures ordered and were very tasty. The sides, one a portabella enchilada and the other a seafood enchilada, were excellent. Whole beans and rice were good. Both parties eating the salads loved them. We had ordered the bean dip as an appetizer and it was very good. The salsa was very good. The dishes were not spicy, but the server had explained that we could add any amount of spice to suit our tastes. We were never rushed even though it was a busy Saturday night. A very nice experience.
My husband and I were in from out of town and went strictly based on open table reviews and were shocked to find such a chain restaurant atmosphere. It wasn't terrible by any means but don't be mislead into thinking this is some neighborhood gem. It's like any decent chain restaurant experience. Fast, cheap, lots of families, etc.
We had never tried this restaurant before and just happened upon it. Our server was outstanding. The food was delicious. Seemed like a great place for families too. The bar scene was very energetic. There also is a patio for outside dining, which is great for those wonderful spring evenings. Would eat there again.
Especially enjoyed the salsa, stacked enchilada (ask to spice it up) and the pork tenderloin.
Food and service are always excellent. One of my favorite places in the valley.
Great menu selections and interesting drink combinations
We have driven by this restaurant many times, but never stopped.
Friends visiting from Alaska suggested we dine here as they had stumbled upon Blue Adobe and loved it. We are so glad we did! The food was outstanding and the service wonderful. We will DEFINITELY return!!!
Went there during Spring Training . There were three couples and they were open to doing three individual bills. Food was good and we were able to talk to each other easily. Service could have been better.
We were in Phoenix and Sedona for a week of spring training baseball, outstanding dinners and just some fun. I found Blue Adobe on Open Table and the menu and the pics on their website looked amazing. In fact, they looked a little more high-end than it turned out to be. Don't get me wrong. The food was very good and the service was very personable and really excellent.
We were a party of six and we all had some form of margarita except for my wife and I who tried their version of the Moscow Mule. It was outstanding. Then my bride and I both ordered the Cruz Kitchen “Signature” which was a super plate with Tenderloin Relleno, Smoked Pork Tamale and Carne Adovada. The relleno was OK, the tamale pretty good and the Carne Adovada amazing.
We both said we would go there again in a minute. My only criticism was that the vibe I got from the website was different (and more casual) than I expected. If you are looking for good Mexican food in the Scottsdale area, this place will please you.
Great hidden gem. Unique Mexican dishes. Love the lettuce shrimp wraps. Open air bar to outside dining is really nice.
We visit this grille several times a year and they are always top-notch. The stacked enchiladas are our favorite -- available in chicken, beef and shredded beef, and topped with red, green or Christmas style (red and green) chilli. There's a good selection of margaritas and draft brews, including Kiltlifter. Service is friendly and attentive. Parking is easy.
What more do you need to know other than It's the Best Southwest/Mexican restaurant restaurant in the Scottsdale area. The Chorizo Stuffed Chicken is really good - and don't be worried that the chorizo will be too hot or too strong because it's not and it is very flavorful. And the Cruz Kitchen Signature is a great combination of 3 items - lots of food so you may need to take some home.
Excellent and extensive menu choices for a Southwestern restaurant, including a number of seafood entrees. The service was superb. The house margarita was merely OK and the steak rellenos tasted like hamburger. But the rest of the food was quite good. Our waiter was incredibly helpful, including providing a garden salad that was not on the menu. We will definitely go back next time we are in Scottsdale.
Never a disappointment. Food and drinks are great. Everyone is friendly.
