Fantastic! Great atmosphere and delicious food! Kale salad is wonderful.
Our food and service was wonderful. We enjoyed the special menu.
We have been to Blu several times and it never disappoints. We love the variety of the food, the service was excellent, Sammy the bartender was extremely helpful and his mixed drinks were amazing! *You have to have the fish tacos and oysters!!
The food was just ok but the service was poor. We had to have the hostess find our waiter on multiple occasions.
Unfortunately our waiter was not very friendly at all.
Food and service outstanding. Normally my wife and I stay with the seafood, but she had the steak special which was a center cut medallion with melted blue cheese and a scallop on top and I had the skirt steak. Both exceptional.
I have visited Blu three times now. It is good enough to keep coming back, but it seems that every time something goes wrong. Service is competent but often slow, it took almost an hour for our three entrees and the restaurant had only four tables. The food is creative and mostly well done. Most of the time. Cocktails are delicious. I will keep trying for that perfect experience.
Seating was immediate but it took over 30 minutes to get water, 45 minutes to get menus, and an hour and a half to get our order. We won’t be going back.
Lobster Cobb is amazing. Service on Sunday (Fathers Day) was great.
We were definitely there on a slower night (it was the Saturday before Father's Day), but the food was fantastic, as were the drinks. Our waiter was friendly and warm, and he kept it real with us (like making jokes with my boyfriend about me ordering fries with my sushi, which is definitely weird. But the fries looked so good and they were!). Definitely seems like it would be a young, hip spot most of the time, with a lot of people, and that night was just a slow night. The drinks the bartenders made (specialty cocktails) were fantastic, and they had a large list of other liquors, wines, beers, and cocktails. Great place for a date.
We were well attended by our server, Bella, and liked our entrees: the Sunset Roll, Tareshi and Lobster Cobb - all attractive, fresh and very good tasting.
Went for Sushi and was impressed with their selection. Taste was very good and service was top notch. Great place to have a nice dinner! Highly recommended.
Had the $35 three course meal, which was really worth it.
Wonderful restaurant! Everything was perfect!
My wife and I treated our niece who was visiting for the weekend. She had the swordfish, my wife the grouper and I had the mix salad with grilled grouper on top. All were excellent. Rare where everyone felt theirs was the best dish. Highly recommend it.
The daily salad specials here and the lobster cobb salad area always so great! Robin is the best server and always treats us so nicely.
I wish the Grouper Schnitzel would come back though - it was awesome!
So much fun! Ran into 2 more friends. 6 of us had an amazing time
Lobster Cobb was great. Rainy Day Brunch that lasted for hours. Nico was our server and he was the best. Very professional and a winning personality. Very attentive and made sure our glasses were full and the table clean.
Great dinner salad and appetizer, enjoyed the dinner very much and definitely recommend.
Nice if not compelling food in a neatly plain decor. Very large portions.
Food was okay, not exceptional at all. Expected more for the cost.
Waited over an hour for our food. Waiter did not check up on us as the only time we saw him was when we ordered and when he dropped off our check. Food was cold by the time we got it
First time at Blu and all the glowing reports were correct. Room is a bit loud but we got use to it quickly. Service was excellent from the start. Menu is adequate and no one had a problem finding an entree. Salmon chip appetizer was very different but great taste. Wine list was good and fairly priced. Only complaint was fries were cold. Mentioned to the waiter and he took off one entree from our bill. No reason to do that as everything else was great. Recommend you give Blu a try.
Experience was okay. Our table was against a wall which was fine but just a little odd. The food was okay but nothing great. Nothing about the experience was memorable, it was just all okay.
There was no crabmeat ( none I could taste)in the crabmeat flatbread. Mostly cheese and plum tomatoes. Tiny piece of grouper in the grouper sandwich. Too bad. I like the place but no more and it was my birthday.
Went here for a birthday celebration and left under-impressed. This area of Winter Park boasts some fine restaurants, but not all of them meet the same standard. Blu is owned by group of restaurants which we have tried and found somewhat wanting, so we should have known! We chose Blu because we were looking for a place that had some vegan/vegetarian options - Blu doesn't advertise themselves this way, but they did offer some choices that we nice. On the good side, the server and hostess were nice, and the menu offered some nice options. We (my wife and I) had cocktails which were nice (and like in WP, just a tad overpriced), and our food was good - nothing special, but tasty and well-prepared (again, I am a little put off by a place that charges just a little more than they should for the kind of dishes they serve - perhaps this is due to the cost of having a restaurant in WP, but comparing the quality to other places in this area means Blu could step it up, or lower the cost just a smudge). The decor and set-up of the restaurant is a little confusing - we were seated at a table next to a free standing wall oddly placed in the middle of the joint (I guess to separate the "dining area" from the bar) and as you look at it, you wonder why the tables aren't placed on the other side of the space next to the permanent wall - you wouldn't feel so closed off. Place was full of people and energetic, so don't go for a quiet meal. All in all, with so many other choices in WP (and better value and better prepared dishes), we're Blu that we aren't likely to return.
Interesting menu. We shared the mussels and crab flatbread as appetizers. The mussels were tasty but tough and we all LOVED the fries that came with them. The sauce as so good we had to order bread to sop the mussel sauce. The crab flatbread was good but not memorable but that’s ok because it would have been totally eclipsed by the Lobster grilled cheese sandwich. That was fantastic. We also enjoyed the lobster pasta dish, a tasty, garlicky yummy dish with a surprising amount of lobster.
Lobster Cobb was excellent. Kitchen was slow. Waited an hour after ordering.
I have to say the service was outstanding! Very rare to find waiters that actually know how to serve. I loved the food and I will go again!
Delicious two years ago, and still delicious! Fresh seafood and a fresh approach to flavor pairings. Wish I lived closer.
Unfortunately, this once awesome restaurant has been on the decline for service and ambiance. We have been a group of 6-12pp monthly for brunch and sometimes HH. Servers are not so attentive and and while some waiting is reasonable, 30 minutes drinks and 45minutes for food is asking us to go someplace else. The sounds level makes it difficult to hear the person across the table. Opening the glass door to the street helps but when they are closed and it is busy, all bets off.
Unless I am totally craving a Lobster Cobb salad, we will be putting this restaurant on hold indefinably.
We have been to Blu many times, on our visits to visit our Daughter at Rollins.
We have never been disappointed..
Food was outstanding. Service not so good - we waited 45 minutes for our orders to arrive, only to discover that our waitress forget one of the people's french toast order. We waited another ten minutes for that to come. It was awkward and waitress was just not on top of things. Also, even though we made a reservation a month in advance, our party of four was seated at a table that was essentially in the hallway with a 3/4 wall pushed up next to one side separating us from the bar. Not good ambiance because of that. Restaurant would do well to remove that 3/4 wall and open up the restaurant space so that it is bright and inviting for all tables. If people are seated in the front area, that looked pretty good, but side and back are dark and not fun areas to enjoy the dining experience.
Always a great meal!
Great food! Even better atmosphere! Good service!
It was a decent dinner but enjoyed the table which faced Park Ave.
Wonderful service, fantastic burger, excellent shrimp, grouper, etc. Brunch outside, with wonderful drink specials , is our favorite. Happy hours are wonderful! Service is always great! Will be back soon!
We were looking for a nice seafood restaurant in Winter Park but we're not sushi fans. Our reservations for 6 were promptly honored. The winter weather was worm and the front doors were open which provided plenty of seating and lots of noise. The service was knowledgeable , friendly and efficient. Other than sangaria there was no wine. I order an traditional beer which was served in the bottle. One of us ordered the seasonal draft and it had a nice citrus flavor and was nicely sized. Our Crab Flatbread had a fine lump crab sauce with cheese and tomato and was liked all around. I asked the servers opinion between the swordfish and the Filet Oscar and he highly recommended the more expensive fillet. I later remembered Rollins has a outstanding school of business, but the fillet was a nice treat with a moderate sized juicy seared angus and a good crab and tabasco hollandaise sauce. Our meat and potatoes diner ordered the hanger steak but was put of by the grana padano side. Other diners went with shrimp pappardelle and chicken gnocchi which came with lots of vegetables and were rated 4 out of 5's.
The deserts were servings of cake which were moist with good icing and were sharable.
We might go back again if I want a nice meal served in a collegiate subway setting.
We enjoyed our evening out, but our experience at blu was just OK. Park Ave in Winter Park is a very competitive market - you have to be GREAT to even compete. I am a regular on the avenue, so will leave blu to the tourists.
My fiancée and I went to blu for date night. We had the oyster, shrimp, and crab plateau, the Maitland roll, and burrata salad to start. Then the hanger steak frites and scallop risotto for dinner. Everything was delicious, from the cucumber water to the risotto. The drinks were on the strong side, but still very tasty and you certainly get a good amount of alcohol for your money! Nico was our server and was friendly and attentive. Waterfall behind the bar was beautiful too! We took dessert trifles to go and those were excellent as well. Overall a perfect date, we will be returning!
