Definitely a great place for date night or family dinner 🍴
It was a beautiful evening and we were able to sit outside. Lovely ambience. The food was good, however the service was very slow. This was my first time there so I will go again and hope the slow service was a one time thing.
Everything was great except it took very long for food to come out. My daughter ended up taking her food to go. Our waitress, Tiana, did a wonderful job serving us. The kitchen was the problem.
Great food and entertainment..sushi man is awsome!!
We chose this restaurant because it was on the Open Table App and on the water and we have friends visiting from out of town. This was our first time here. The fish tacos were amazing! Both of the ladies ordered The crab meat with hard-boiled egg salad and they both agreed that it was just OK. We sat outside and it was beautiful!
Dined this time with a friend from out of town. We often dine here sometimes on a weekly basis and food is always decent. We do think right now they are short staffed but welcome to FL in Season. Fish tacos tonight were great but ask for lightly blackened as seasoning cAn be very salty.
Everything from the staff to the service was just fantastic. Great ambiance live music. Highly recommend for a nice evening out with family and friends.
Great food, excellent service...will return!!!!
Parking on a Saturday night was difficult. App said there was a valet, there wasn’t. Seating was quick but took much longer than necessary to have contact with server. Table next to us, seated after us, had two waitresses before we had one. Food was mostly delicious, but prawn special was way over cooked. Replacement did come quickly. Did not feel service or atmosphere matched money spent on dinner.
Flavor of food was good however temperature was lukewarm. Waitress offered to warm or replace however they were so busy we declined. Will definitely give them another try. Ambiance was great inside where we ate. Will definitely try outdoors to enjoy music. Looked like a lot of fun.
Wonderful food and atmosphere! Highly recommend!!!
Terrible. Wouldn’t honor reservations made on Open Table. Staff was very rude. Won’t be back.
Food was very good as it normally is. Arrived early for reservation but still sat our party immediately. Prompt and attentive service.
Amazing staff. Wonderful food and service
Band much too loud. Believe waiter had too many tables. We were very neglected. Food good, but expensive.
We had a horrible experience. It took nearly two hours to get our food. We waited nearly an hour for drinks. Our server never checked on our food or drink orders. When the food finally came, she had forgotten to write down one of the entrees that was ordered, so it didn’t come with the others. When it was finally served, although it was one of the evening’s specials, it was dried out, rubbery and inedible.
First of all Lynn was a great server! Thank you! We had a crab salad and a steak. Steak was mideaocer, lacking flavor..mashed potatoes were bland salad was ok but nothing special. Presentation , just stuff slapped on a plate. They definitely need to more creative chef there. Don't think we will be back.
Bread was delicious, best part of the meal. That's sad.
We had a great experience. The food was good and wouldn’t hesitate going back again
Understaffed. Waited 45 minutes for all three of us to get cold food. No way would we send it back. Might not get food till midnight
Gordon Ramsey would have had a hay day with your Valentine day dinner service. The ops managers way over booked your kitchens capabilities Table next to ours, 1 hour 15 minutes until main course 1 hour 50 minutes for ours and the steak was over cooked and cold when presented Gorden would have kicked both the blue and red team out and fired the manager for biting off more than they could serve.
Opposite these other reviews, and perhaps cause it was Valentine's Day, our experience was horrible. Sat at 630 left 810 after only getting our side salads. Server was overwhelmed & told us about it multiple times. Unorganized service & we don't blame the server, Jenny, herself. Management clearly not on top of things. We will def not go back for another attempt.
Our meal was great. Don’t go on a holiday- every table around us had bad food and service. We lucked out. Casual dining near river is nice- sit at the bar- you will have a better time then in dining room. Female blonde manager needs to learn hospitality and the basics on customer service- too many excuses.
It took two hours to receive our dinner after ordering. "Misplaced ticket". We asked the waiter if "Prime filet was actually prime rib. He said yes. Two people ordered. One received filet mignon. The other received New York strip. Because of the long wait we gave up and ate what was served. Very disappointing Valentine dinner.
Went for Valentine's Day, had reservation and seated right away. Husband's water glass was dirty, crusty handprints on outside. Ordered bottle of wine, one wine glass had lipstick on it. Appetizer took almost an hour to arrive, had to find manager to get it. Had to ask for bread which should have brought complementary. Entrees arrived about 30 minutes later, my Red Snapper was overcooked, dry and very fishy, vegetables were cold. Husband's sea bass was good but baked potato came dry, was ordered with butter and sour cream, and his vegetables were ice cold... no condiments on table. Tried to find owner/manager again but saw him retreat to his office. Had to voice complaints to another manager who proceeded to ask us, " Well what would you like me to do?"....REALLY?????? 😡 She did end up comping our entrees. Table behind us were seared before us and after 2 hours were still waiting for their entrees. Patrons were being taken to tables that weren't even cleaned or set, people were waiting by tables as they were being cleaned. Witnessed many patrons having to flag down server or manager or whoever would respond. We have eaten there many times and have never had issues....this was a complete disaster!!
Had a reservation but was told we would have to wait an hour for outdoor seating. In conversation at hostess table we alluded that they didn’t really care whether we were there or not. Female Mgr said she didn’t care but Convinced us to eat indoors as mgr said service and food were very good. Wrong. We should have left. Waited half an hour just to place order, had to ask for bread and got it 15 minutes after ordering, asked when we were going to get our salads. Server said they have to make salads and kitchen was in a mess since they were so busy and it was a Holiday, meal and salads finally came on same serving tray 45 min after ordering. This was with a limited menu due to holiday. Very disorganized and everyone was in panic mode. Ordered 2 glasses of wine which never came. Male Mgr came to table after we asked for him. He wanted to make us happy so we got a complimentary bottle of wine. However when the bill finally came our 2 glasses of wine which we did not get was on the bill. Had to ask server to remove from bill she said Mgr would not do. When we asked to see the Mgr again, server came back with revised bill taking the 2 wines off. All this aggravation, horrible service and mediocre food with a total bill of $160 for 4. There were a lot of unhappy customers in the dining room. Will never go back.
I never received a confirmation in a timely manner. I wanted a reservation for 4 people & the app would not work. I had my sister-in-law use her acct & she was able to get our reservation. This is the second time in the last 2 months I have had issues with using the Open Table app to make reservations at The Blu Mangrove Grille & other restaurants. Really not worth using the app.
Perfect venue! Shame about the service and quality of food!
We are locals that thoroughly support Blu Mangrove Grille year round but not as much in Season as we have the pleasure dining here when the crowds are gone. It is our favorite go to place when we are short on time and want to eat well. Sure enough, we got her at 8:00 tonight and the outside dining area was jumping. We just had burgers and a glass of red wine and the burgers were as good as ever and what we come to always expect from Blu Mangrove.
Even though they were quite busy with weddings and all the staff and food were great. And the singer's were excellent and not too loud
The four of just wanted something light but tasty and that’s what we got. The men both ordered “All you can eat” mussels and managed two bowls each with lots of crusty bread to mop up the white wine sauce. The ladies both chose fish tacos and found them delicious. Service was very good and paced just right. We also enjoyed some great music, happy hour prices drinks and a cost gas burner to drive off the chill. In all, an enjoyable experience.
Had dinner for 8 on a Friday night. Took 1/2 hour to order a drink and another 1/2 hour to get it. Sever was poor and we had to request another to find him. Ordered appetizers and dinner and both came late. All dinners were not served hot and the mash potatoes were cold! Asked for Manager and then got another. Service so poor and food not hot, refused to pay tip on Bill. Would not recommend this restuarant due to poor service and Luke warm food.
Very limited parking. Finding a parking spot was very difficult. It took well over 20 minutes. Although, the variety and types of food shown on the menu was impressive for a 5 star restaurant the food was just ok, not outstanding. The wait staff was not very professional. The timing of food delivery was non-existent. Main dishes were brought to the table before appetizers were finished or the plates cleared. Note, that we were a party of seven. We asked to see a dessert menu and the waiter only bought one. We asked the waiter for more, he brought one more. It took the waiter an overly long period of time to come back to take the dessert order.
I would definitely not recommend this restaurant.
3rd time here. I hit the sushi pretty hard and sushi chef did not disappoint. Had chefs menu, was fresh and tasty. Cath had prime special and loved it. Table had view and waitress was personable. Only glitch was entrees came a couple minutes too soon, not a big deal (offered to bring later but I was on a roll-slight pun). We will be back often.
We had a wonderful experience
The food was delicious!
We have been here before and decided to stop by after the Bradenton Boat Show, with some friends. Very disappointed. There was a Lunch Special Menu that offered Grouper Bites with fries, for $18. We ordered (2) of these. When they arrived, the portion sizes were pretty nice, as the chunks were larger and very lightly breaded. We took a bite of the grouper bites and we all couldn't believe how FISHY they were. We order Grouper Bites at almost every restaurant we have eaten at. No one at our table thinks this was Grouper. We think it was a fake Grouper? I googled this and they say some restaurants have gotten caught for fish swapping or using asian catfish, corvina or cod. It was SO fishy tasting that we doused it with tabasco and malt vinegar, since the waiter didn't come back for a while. We should have sent it back asap. OR it could have been very old Grouper, thus the reason it was the Lunch Special. Very disappointed. On a lighter note, the Onion Soup was AMAZING! Larger sized, nice amount of melted cheese and onions. The Happy Hour Drink Specials were decent, as we all had a glass of wine. We would never get the Grouper Bites again though. Oh, when we told the waiter that the Grouper Bites were Fishy, he just said "Sorry about that" and took the plates away. No resolution, no manager came over, nothing.
We went on a cool evening. Sat outside. Heaters next to table were very nice. Music on patio was very pleasant and not overpowering (noisy). Because of the chill that evening (~65 deg-70 deg), food did not stay warm (understandable). Blackened chicken on noodles was so-so (give it a C). Fish and Chips ok (give it a B), Philly Cheese Steak a B+, and the Sushi was an A. Good value on wine. We will definitely be back as this is a very relaxing atmosphere.
We went early on a weeknight during the holidays for an anniversary dinner. The place was virtually empty. Selection was wide with lots (maybe too many) options on the menu. The fish was very good, cooked perfectly but the salad and sides were just ok, nothing special, and not much flavor. Portions are large. Service was also spotty. Blue Mangrove seems to be trying to market itself as a foodie spot, but falls short. Suggest they pare down their menu, focus on taste and quality rather than variety and quantity.
This was our 3rd visit to Blue Mangrove, this time for lunch with our adult children. We love sitting outside on the marina. Food is never disappointing. The service was great. Evening meals are especially wonderful when accompanied by the live music.
I had been to the Blu Mangrove once for lunch. My dinner companions had never eaten there. One is a vegetarian and one is a hearty eater. Everyone was delighted with the menu selection and quality of the food. From the crab cakes to the scallops the food was wonderful. I had the grilled fish tacos, awesome.
We will be returning to the Blu Mangrove!
Restaurant is located on the banks of the Manatee river where boats are docked. There was very good live music. food was plentiful.
