They left us alone to catch up with friends upon our request. Ready to take our orders when we were ready. Drinks were good and so was the food. We all had some type of seafood which everyone commented was very good.
For years was always on my favorite list. Not sure what is going on but was the absolute worst experience there i ever had. Took some friends that have never been then and i raved about it. Was so embarrassed. Had a reservation at 7 was an hour wait for a table Service was terrible. All the food came out in pieces None of our meals served at same time. Appetizers took forever snd salads beat the appetizers. When mentioned it to the Manager she was extremely rude Steak dinner that was $36 was cold had to return it. They cooked a new steak but by the rest of us were done. The person with a pasta dish asked for cheese got it when we were done eating when they brough the check.
The food was very good, but service was not very attentive. Very pleasant setting overlooking the marina. I ordered a seafood/pasta dish much like cioppino. It came out covered in Parmesan cheese, which was not stated in the menu. Had to send it back, as I do not like Parmesan cheese, then wait for it be be made again without cheese. My wife’s Alaskan king crab leg pieces were very good, but were served with funny-tasting butter. Both dishes were of ample size for two meals. If this restaurant could get out the kinks, it would be much better.
We have come to the conclusion that Blu Mangrove is a good restaurant to come to for well prepared, comforting food. We find it no frills, no fancy sauces, no foods that you would not be familiar with and good dining of basic, solid foods that so many of us enjoy. One diner loved the salmon tonight and really enjoyed the fresh mixed vegetables. One diner had strip steak, certainly not as tender as filet, and perfectly cooked as ordered. I had the steak salad but do not eat beef so the kitchen accommodated with grilled chicken breast and the raspberry vinaigrette was delicious.
Blu Mangrove remains our favorite go to restaurant in Palmetto.
Was horribly disappointed. Contacted the restaraunt privately before going on social media, to see if they wanted to rectify our experience, no response at all. We were ignored when we were sat for 15 minutes, drinks took forever, the food was abismal . Our grouper was translucent and way undercooked, when we sent it to be cooked more, were were given back a prefab rectangular piece of fish with no sauce. Our server even said that they will be glad to over cook it for us and that it was cooked, it was just special grouper-for 30 dollars, ha! We are restaurant people and we know bad service and food, the atmosphere was great, but the lack of anyone trying to make things right was so bad for business. My mothers scallops were rubber , my friends crab cakes dry, conch salad tasteless. Only good thing we had was great mussel app. So disappointing, we came by boat and wanted to love-we are locals, who won't be bringing out of towners if this is how they operate.
Went for Easter Brunch. They Charged 39.95 per person for the Buffet brunch. The prime rib was tough, and the other food on the buffet was cold.
We have dined here before and it was always pretty good. This meal was very disappointing!!
This was supposed to be an Easter Brunch buffet. Started off badly when my wife realized that there was no omelet station, and then realized that there were no eggs at all! Had 6 people attend. Every single one said "Beautiful View of the Marina. Lovely sitting outdoors on such a beautiful day, but the food was just OK, not great". I felt the same. There was carved Prime rib and ham, they were very good, the rest of the food was just so-so. I've eaten there for lunch and dinner and the food is good. But there are much better places to eat in St. Pete and Tampa. Easter Brunch Buffet is very disappointing though.
Our son is visiting and brought three of his med school friends for spring break. We decided to take them to the Blu Mangrove so had a party of six. I made on-line reservations a month ago and requested outside seating. We arrived and were told that outside not guaranteed so ended up sitting inside which was an ok compromise as we did not want to wait thirty minutes. Unfortunately, server was absolutely terrible. I do not know if they were under staffed but she barely stayed at our table to address questions about the menu/specials, etc. Server seemed as if she absolutely hated her job. Food arrived in stages. Three meals arrived and then at least ten minutes for two more meals. I had the grouper which was stone COLD. Absolutely awful. Husband’s fish arrived another fifteen minutes later but was definitely hot as they had forgotten to prepare it. Our guests were joking that they must be catching the fish. This was both awkward and embarrassing as we wanted to treat everyone to a really nice meal. I cannot believe that there was no apology issued or at least dessert or after dinner drinks comped-really a bad way to run a restaurant. Spent $300 on a really bad meal/experience. We live in the Riviera Dunes community and neighbors are always complaining about this restaurant but we have always been really positive and supportive. We will really think about coming here again in the future .
Food is good and reasonably priced. It appeared that most of the staff(not just wait staff) were inexperienced and not well trained. Seemed understaffed even though it was not crowded that evening.
We ate outside which was very pleasant, but the music was a little loud
The bartender was the best service we had. Otherwise, it took forever for food that was soaked in butter. For a couple's anniversary, the drinks were not flowing because we were never noticed and service did not appear to be around to help.
The food was good. We were a bit disappointed that our food came out just seconds after our soups did. The soups were also barely hot though they tasted fine.
We had a great meal and great service. Atmosphere was nice we ate inside this time but have dined on the patio which is also very nice.
Seating area outside is nice and the ambiance is great with live music. Food is decent and they have a good menu. The wine selection is limited and they do not have a corkage fee. Unfortunately, the service is severely lacking: the waiter passing plates in front of you or worse, asking you to pass a hot plate to the person next to you! We also had to pour our own wine and hold up our appetizer plates up while he set our entrees because he forgot to pick them up. Nothing horrific but all basic things you expect at a restaurant.
Definitely a great place for date night or family dinner 🍴
We had made a reservation with Opentable for 7:15. When we arrived we were told it would be about 20 minutes (the same wait time walk ins were being given). We went to wait in the bar area and when our table still wasn’t ready after 25 minutes we decided to eat in the bar. The bartender took our order promptly but when our food arrived we had to ask the food runner for silverware for the 3 of us. He returned with two sets and said that’s all he could find. He did return a few minutes later with a third set. One of our meals was supposed to come with Irish bread. We asked another employee for the bread and she replied that she thought they were out but would check. She returned with a scrap of bread and said that was all they had left. We ordered a second round of drinks but only one of us actually received the drink. There was an overall lack of care/customer service to the entire experience. On a positive note, the food was good but we probably won’t return due to the poor service.
It was a beautiful evening and we were able to sit outside. Lovely ambience. The food was good, however the service was very slow. This was my first time there so I will go again and hope the slow service was a one time thing.
Everything was great except it took very long for food to come out. My daughter ended up taking her food to go. Our waitress, Tiana, did a wonderful job serving us. The kitchen was the problem.
Great food and entertainment..sushi man is awsome!!
We chose this restaurant because it was on the Open Table App and on the water and we have friends visiting from out of town. This was our first time here. The fish tacos were amazing! Both of the ladies ordered The crab meat with hard-boiled egg salad and they both agreed that it was just OK. We sat outside and it was beautiful!
Dined this time with a friend from out of town. We often dine here sometimes on a weekly basis and food is always decent. We do think right now they are short staffed but welcome to FL in Season. Fish tacos tonight were great but ask for lightly blackened as seasoning cAn be very salty.
Everything from the staff to the service was just fantastic. Great ambiance live music. Highly recommend for a nice evening out with family and friends.
Great food, excellent service...will return!!!!
Parking on a Saturday night was difficult. App said there was a valet, there wasn’t. Seating was quick but took much longer than necessary to have contact with server. Table next to us, seated after us, had two waitresses before we had one. Food was mostly delicious, but prawn special was way over cooked. Replacement did come quickly. Did not feel service or atmosphere matched money spent on dinner.
Flavor of food was good however temperature was lukewarm. Waitress offered to warm or replace however they were so busy we declined. Will definitely give them another try. Ambiance was great inside where we ate. Will definitely try outdoors to enjoy music. Looked like a lot of fun.
Wonderful food and atmosphere! Highly recommend!!!
Terrible. Wouldn’t honor reservations made on Open Table. Staff was very rude. Won’t be back.
Food was very good as it normally is. Arrived early for reservation but still sat our party immediately. Prompt and attentive service.
Amazing staff. Wonderful food and service
Band much too loud. Believe waiter had too many tables. We were very neglected. Food good, but expensive.
We had a horrible experience. It took nearly two hours to get our food. We waited nearly an hour for drinks. Our server never checked on our food or drink orders. When the food finally came, she had forgotten to write down one of the entrees that was ordered, so it didn’t come with the others. When it was finally served, although it was one of the evening’s specials, it was dried out, rubbery and inedible.
First of all Lynn was a great server! Thank you! We had a crab salad and a steak. Steak was mideaocer, lacking flavor..mashed potatoes were bland salad was ok but nothing special. Presentation , just stuff slapped on a plate. They definitely need to more creative chef there. Don't think we will be back.
Bread was delicious, best part of the meal. That's sad.
We had a great experience. The food was good and wouldn’t hesitate going back again
Understaffed. Waited 45 minutes for all three of us to get cold food. No way would we send it back. Might not get food till midnight
Gordon Ramsey would have had a hay day with your Valentine day dinner service. The ops managers way over booked your kitchens capabilities Table next to ours, 1 hour 15 minutes until main course 1 hour 50 minutes for ours and the steak was over cooked and cold when presented Gorden would have kicked both the blue and red team out and fired the manager for biting off more than they could serve.
Opposite these other reviews, and perhaps cause it was Valentine's Day, our experience was horrible. Sat at 630 left 810 after only getting our side salads. Server was overwhelmed & told us about it multiple times. Unorganized service & we don't blame the server, Jenny, herself. Management clearly not on top of things. We will def not go back for another attempt.
Our meal was great. Don’t go on a holiday- every table around us had bad food and service. We lucked out. Casual dining near river is nice- sit at the bar- you will have a better time then in dining room. Female blonde manager needs to learn hospitality and the basics on customer service- too many excuses.
It took two hours to receive our dinner after ordering. "Misplaced ticket". We asked the waiter if "Prime filet was actually prime rib. He said yes. Two people ordered. One received filet mignon. The other received New York strip. Because of the long wait we gave up and ate what was served. Very disappointing Valentine dinner.
Went for Valentine's Day, had reservation and seated right away. Husband's water glass was dirty, crusty handprints on outside. Ordered bottle of wine, one wine glass had lipstick on it. Appetizer took almost an hour to arrive, had to find manager to get it. Had to ask for bread which should have brought complementary. Entrees arrived about 30 minutes later, my Red Snapper was overcooked, dry and very fishy, vegetables were cold. Husband's sea bass was good but baked potato came dry, was ordered with butter and sour cream, and his vegetables were ice cold... no condiments on table. Tried to find owner/manager again but saw him retreat to his office. Had to voice complaints to another manager who proceeded to ask us, " Well what would you like me to do?"....REALLY?????? 😡 She did end up comping our entrees. Table behind us were seared before us and after 2 hours were still waiting for their entrees. Patrons were being taken to tables that weren't even cleaned or set, people were waiting by tables as they were being cleaned. Witnessed many patrons having to flag down server or manager or whoever would respond. We have eaten there many times and have never had issues....this was a complete disaster!!
Had a reservation but was told we would have to wait an hour for outdoor seating. In conversation at hostess table we alluded that they didn’t really care whether we were there or not. Female Mgr said she didn’t care but Convinced us to eat indoors as mgr said service and food were very good. Wrong. We should have left. Waited half an hour just to place order, had to ask for bread and got it 15 minutes after ordering, asked when we were going to get our salads. Server said they have to make salads and kitchen was in a mess since they were so busy and it was a Holiday, meal and salads finally came on same serving tray 45 min after ordering. This was with a limited menu due to holiday. Very disorganized and everyone was in panic mode. Ordered 2 glasses of wine which never came. Male Mgr came to table after we asked for him. He wanted to make us happy so we got a complimentary bottle of wine. However when the bill finally came our 2 glasses of wine which we did not get was on the bill. Had to ask server to remove from bill she said Mgr would not do. When we asked to see the Mgr again, server came back with revised bill taking the 2 wines off. All this aggravation, horrible service and mediocre food with a total bill of $160 for 4. There were a lot of unhappy customers in the dining room. Will never go back.
I never received a confirmation in a timely manner. I wanted a reservation for 4 people & the app would not work. I had my sister-in-law use her acct & she was able to get our reservation. This is the second time in the last 2 months I have had issues with using the Open Table app to make reservations at The Blu Mangrove Grille & other restaurants. Really not worth using the app.
