We booked a reservation at Blu because of the proximity to the Boston Opera House where we were seeing a play. It was a fantastic decision. It was a 2 minute walk to the theatre, the view was amazing and the food even better. We started with the calamari appetizer for the table. Well prepared with a delicious aioli. I had the diver scallops with lobster risotto. Simply wonderful. My husband had the swordfish, my sister in law had the short rib and my nephew had the pasta bolognese. The only complaint I heard was from my nephew who didn’t think there was enough on his plate. Got rave reviews from the others on their dishes. Drinks were decent and desserts were good but nothing to write home about. All in all an excellent experience and we would go again especially if attending the theatre.
It was such a great restaurant. We will go back again. Cool views. Funky foods. Great service. Very happy with it overall. Perfect for visiting downtown and the opera house etc
This place was spectacular! The view was one of a kind and the food was exceptional. I can’t wait to go back.
First time back in 5 years, the quality of the drinks and service is great. The premium (looking) menu and corresponding price point gives the impression of a high end restaurant. The execution, unfortunately, just stinks. Bolognese tastes out of a can (not even a jar). Duck breast manages to be at once overcooked on the inside and undercooked on the outside (inedibly rubbery). The accompanying gnocchi are undercooked and disgusting. The salmon, though undercooked at the center, was quite good, if you don't mind it rare/med rare at center (they warn you, so it's no surprise). Appetizers are ok, but nothing special. The service was excellent, but the food does not meet the expectation at this pricepoint.
Our server was wonderful and was very attentive. The food was great and the view was wonderful. My mother and I like to come here prior to the theater.
Fabulous view. Great food. Awesome menu- even my daughter who is vegan had several choices and loved her meal. The staff was attentive and friendly. This is our favorite restaurant for pre Opera House dinner
The room is always pleasant at Blu with a nice view. Location is great for pre-theatre.
Food was all lovely - pasta dishes, lamb, sea scallops. Great serving sizes, delicious. Cocktails were good too! Only disappointment was the appetizer platter with fish bites, lamb lollipps and another item. Not much flavor, quite forgettable. Desserts were yummy, and the waiter was on top of the details - asked me quietly about a birthday at the table, and brought dessert on pretty platter with a candle. Quietly, a nice touch.
The views were nice, the service was great, the food was ok. I ordered the steak which was very tough and not that great. My husband ordered a pasta dish and wasn’t thrilled either. We thought we would give it a try but we won’t go back.
The food was ok. I would not go back. I ordered a roasted cauliflower salad and there was one piece of cauliflower on it.
Blu has a lovely atmosphere with floor to ceiling windows looking out over Washington Street. The service is great and theyhave a very tasty vegan option that is the mai reason I eat there.
The food was good not great. The swordfish was very dry over cooked. The lobster potatoes were interesting little too much. The rest of the food was good. The service was very good. I thought it was overpriced for what we got. I would however give it another shot to see if we caught a bad night!
I should have had the swordfish returned!
Great service quiet, quick and prompt server. Would recommend to anyone.
Everything was very nice except the entry so casually through the health club snack area was strange. They should redesign that. It detracts from the experience.
THE AMBIANCE IS QUITE NICE HERE AND THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD. THE STAFF, I HAVE ALWAYS FOUND, TO BE CONGENIAL, ATTENTIVE BUT NOT OVERLY SO AND PROFESSIONAL.
A great place for a romantic dinner. My fiancee lived the ambiance and the view overlooking Paramount. For was amazing and the chef recommended choice exceeded our expectations. Definitely a must visit for any special occasion
Unfortunately it was not a good experience, our party experienced a very disturbing event. I hope the server was able to discuss this with management as this was a very serious event that involved possible sanitary issues.
Bad service, unimpressive food, bad location next to the gym
The food was outstanding!
The service was perfect.
Thank you for your great review. Hope to see you back soon!
I went with a girlfriend for Resataurant Week and we both loved it! We had a table overlooking the length of Washington Street which was all lit up and it was interesting to watch what was happening below. The food was beautifully presented and tated superb. We had a fish taco and raw tuna to start; then catfish over rice and spinach and breast of chicken over rice; followed by a pannecotta and a chocolate mousse. Our waiter Rogerio was very friendly and attentive without being overly so. It was not at all crowded so I don't know what it's like when it's crowded, but for us it was great as we could talk easily and got very good service.
We are really happy that you enjoyed your dinner with us. Thank you for the great review. Hope to see you back soon. Best regards,
Perfect: food, setting, service. What more can I say? We were running a few minutes late and had a show at the nearby Opera House. Wait staff made it happen WITHOUT our feeling rushed. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the great review and the kind private note. We love Rogerio too. Yes, we don't believe in skimping on our dine out menu, we love that the guests can have a little taste of blu. Hope to see you back soon.
Overpriced. Food was pretty tasteless
Food and serve was very good. The view was amazing!
Great pre-theater dining. Consistently excellent food and service.
Blu is my favorite understated restaurant. It's strange walking through an Equinox lobby to get to a restaurant, but the view over Washington Street and the theatre district combined with the excellent service and outstanding food makes this a hidden gem in Boston.
Saw Hello Dolly
Great time go here all the time. We love it!
We love it and can’t understand why it’s always empty at lunch. Not that I’m complaining .
Great service, food & venue!
Fantastic setting, amazing view, first-rate service, delicious and diverse menu.
We took old friends from San Diego to Blu for dinner on Saturday, and they loved it. The views, the food, the service were all fantastic. And, since we were not rushing for a theatre show we were able to leisurely dine while enjoying the fantastic Blu experience and each other's company. Sooooo Goood!
We had a pre-concert meal at Blu and it was excellent. There are great menus choices - very varied and elevated. The arugula/asparagus vegetable bowl with an egg was delicious and we followed that with rack of lamb and baked cod, both prepared very creatively. The drinks menu is good - try the watermelon martini - mmm, and the wine list very good as well. The dessert with the dulce de leche sauce was really wonderful and next time I'll try the bread pudding. The service was attentive, but not intrusive and the ambiance relaxing in interesting. A+
Perfect for a dinner before a show! Really impressed with how quiet it was - you can actually hear your tablemates!
Seated promptly with table by window as requested. Good waiter, excellent food and wine. Overall a great experience!
This is a wonderful, comfortable spot, great atmosphere and always enjoyable street viewing from floor to ceiling windows about the noise of the traffic. Food is always good, service friendly and attentive.
Lovely place, food very good.
Beautiful summer early evening in Boston for a pre-theater dinner at Blu. Loved our table location at the panoramic windows overlooking the urban theater street scene. Quiet to start (we were early) but eventually a full restaurant but still the busy dining area was comfortably quiet. Excellent flash-fired calamari and red/yellow beet salad led up to a delicious flat steak over risotto (need that recipe). My dinner guests equally enjoyed their roast chicken and fish dishes finished up by a very sharable chocolate cake dessert. Attentive staff, nothing rushed, felt very satisfied as we strolled off to a great theater show.
Great food! Excellent city street views. We’ll certainly go back to Blu!!
Thank you so much for the great review. Looking forward to having you again. Blu team
Not very attentive ran out of drinks bad water. Steak was charred.
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your visit. That’s very helpful as we take that as a chance to improve. Hope you give us another chance and visit us again. Blu team
