Blu Ratings and Reviews
First time at Blu but it won't be my last! First of all, our waiter was wonderful. We were late for our reservation due to traffic and he did everything to expedite things and make it a pleasant experience. We had theatre tickets and he timed things perfectly so that we were in our seats when the curtain opened!
Secondly, the entire meal was the best I have had in a long time. The caprese salad was excellent! I had the rack of lamb when was prepared perfectly and the flavor profile was second to none! For dessert, the warm apple bread pudding and salted caramel ice cream was out of this world. Also, the wine recommendation was fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful dining experience.
Blu is our favorite theatre distict restaurant. The room is open and airy and has a special occasion feeling. The view is what makes it for us, though: sunlight on the surrounding buildings changing to the neon lights along Washington street at dark. Never disappoints.
There were 4 of us dining. We had appetizers, salads , main dinners, and dessert. Everything was delicious. Would definitely come again.
The only negative was the waiter was very new and didn't seem to have anyone guiding him. But we were able to get out in time for our theater tickets at 7:30.
We went on a weekday evening so it wasn't very busy. The view was perfect. We sat right in front of the Paramount Theater. However, there are condos just to the right and we could see one of the residents walking around in her thong. So that was a little annoying. But it was beyond the restaurants control so no fault to them. The service was good. The drinks were strong. I was impressed with the mushroom flatbread appetizer. And I enjoyed the veggie lovers vegan feast for my entree (the only vegetarian option). The dessert was good too! Would recommend to others.
Located on the 4th floor, secretly tucked behind a cafe is the beautiful Blu. The food was excellent (tagliatelle pasta with shrimp and filet mignon), the server was very attentive (and extremely handsome!). The ambiance is wonderful as the high ceilings feature softly lit blue columns. The view from a window table even in a rainy night was "paramount". Treat yourself to this gem:)
My food was very good. (Beet salad first, swordfish main). The wine list was varied and had plenty to choose from. The service was a bit slow. The room was loud, it may have been the night, as a large party had children with then who were running around the dining area close to us.
Meal was ridiculously fast paced. App served as cocktails arrived. Entree arrived as app cleared. Everyone enjoyed their food except me. Rack of lamb was medium-med/well instead of med/rare. The waiter pulled out his phone flashlight to verify my interpretation of no its not pink. They reserved and gave me cold and raw. Retired again and 2 chops were good and 2 rare and 2 still raw. They did waive the charge on the meat.
It is a beautiful dining space with fantastic views.
I would dine there again but not planning on it. Too many better options.
This was a great place to celebrate my birthday before going to the ballet. Parking options were plentiful and in close proximity. The server was excellent and attentive. We were seated by a window as requested. The calamari as an appetizer was fresh and large enough for four. Very nice drink selection. I went with Champagne which was exquisite. The scallops with lobster risotto were cooked perfectly and very nicely seasoned. The rack of lamb was tender and delicious as was the duck. The fusilli with beef, pork and veal sauce was nicely prepared but on the heavier side. The tiramisu, creme brûlée and chocolate cake were phenomenal. My tiramisu arrived with a lit candle which was especially thoughtful as I only mentioned the birthday in my Open Table reservation. Beautiful view out the window and fantastic to see the theatre district from above! Will keep in mind for another special occasion spent in Boston. We had a 5 o'clock restoration before a 7:30 performance and the timing was perfect, not rushed.
I recommend reservations as it isn't a very large place. It is fine-dining but there's a casual bar right in the dining room and this is inside a sports club (exercise) that has a cafe right on the other side of the restaurant. It's a unique setup but the food was amazing as was the view and it had a fancy feel without being pretentious. Really loved it and would dine there again. It was a special experience.
Service pre-theater was great (we had limitand time) and staff lovely. Food was very good and nice variety in menu, but nothing earth-shattering and no veggies (only ala carte) with many of the main courses. Portion size was fine, but pricey. View is very nice. Only real down side is waiting for elevator and getting in and out of elevator to restaurant with people going to Equinox gym (same floor) and then having to walk thru gym-club lobby and snack bar/take out in order to
get to restaurant. Not terrible but a bit unappetizingz
