Blu Ratings and Reviews
The view is obviously the selling point here. The food is really not great and the wine list is laughable at best but cocktails and service were excellent. Given the food quality it's certainly overly priced as well. Convenient location if you're going to the theatre and, again, excellent view.
We were at Blu on a Saturday night before a show. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was our first time at Blu. We loved the ambiance, the open structure and the large windows looking out on the streets below. The food was very good, the service was great, and the ambiance was very nice. It was pretty full but we could have a pleasant, quiet conversation without feeling "squeezed" by others around us. Will definitely go back!
We went for dinner before the Nutcracker. Great service...very accommodating! Staff payed close attention to the timing to make sure we weren't rushed but had plenty of time to make the show. Terrific seat at window over looking Downtown Crossing and meals were delicious. I would highly recommend!
My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays and said so when we made reservations. Our evening at the restaurant passed by, however, with never a mention of the occasion--not a happy birthday, not a candle on the dessert--nothing. We were rather disappointed at that.
The food was very good, especially appetizers and dessert, which were superb. The entrees were good but not particularly innovative or exciting.
Fabulous contemporary atmosphere in the Ritz building. Very nice offerings - recommend the Blu Plate appetizer. Perfect for dinner for any activity around that area. Pre-Theater, Sightseeing, Shopping, etc. Really enjoyed the experience.
Convenient $5 valet parking in the garage for under 3 hours.
Food was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Quiet and enjoyable evening. Servers somewhat inattentive. Rarely checked table. Waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Despite marginal service would go again for the food or if looking for a dining spot for quiet uninterrupted conversation.
My first visit to Blu will not be my last! My 13 year old and I dined prior to seeing a show. The atmosphere was nice, service was great and food was delicious. Our server Daniel was quick, attentive and made a great dessert recommendation. We’ll definitely be back!
I’ve been dining at Blu for years and nearly always enjoy it. Very good food at reasonable prices and a lovely atmosphere. Great for pre theatre or pre movie dinner, or meet up at the bar after work. Not enough people know about Blu because of its odd location; you have to take an elevator up to the same level as a health club. Once you’re in the restaurant, though, you’re overlooking Washington Street and the theatre district, and the wait staff is always friendly and gracious. I recommmd it highly.
Blu is our "go-to" place before Broadway in Boston shows at the Opera House. We've had the same waiter twice and he is very professional, knowledgeable and attentive. We love the menu, and we're out with some time to spare to take a nice walk before going to the theater.
This should have been a really romantic evening for my husband and myself. We were just in town for the weekend hoping to enjoy a great evening dinner. It started off well and we were seated in what I believe to be the best seat i the house. We had a view of the paramount and it was picture perfect. Our appetizer and drinks came quickly and we truly enjoyed it. Bread came after (odd), then dinner, which we both truly enjoyed. Then a few bites into our dinner it all went down hill. Two tables away from us were a group 15-20 girls celebrating a sweet 16. We actually didn't even notice them until this point because we were enjoying each others company and they were doing the same. But when the girls finished their meal they got up to take photos. A few photos would have been fine. But this proceeded on for TWENTY MINUTES!! Each girl had to take 10 photos with every girl there. It didn't stop until my husband realized their chaperone was at the bar and asked her to settle them down that they were ruining our dinner. We were visibly upset and annoyed. No staff asked if we wanted to be moved or if anything could be done.
