First time at the Blu. It's my lady birthday dinner. Love the whole experience, will do it again.
Appetizer of Tuna Tartare was melt in your mouth good with avocado and just right spices. Feta and watermelon salad also had strawberriea and silvered almonds and had right amount of dressing. Husband's swordfish was perfect and lobster mash potatoes were delicious. My herbed Cod was good, but I thought a tad overdone. The string squash side was perfectly seasoned and tasty with a creamy remoulade that delighted the mouth. And the side broccolini was just right for texture and bite with a buttery flavor that was not too salty. Pear virgin cocktail was delicious. Cappuccinos (one decaf one regular) were flavorful and fluffy. Chocolate Mousse cake with crème brulée filling (!) was heavenly.... Light mousse with perfect texture, creamy caramel brulée and a moist cake base made my birthday complete.
Server was solicitous and knowledgeable and had a sense of humor.
We enjoyed the 4th floor view of downtown and the lighting was sufficiently cozy.
Would definitely go again!
We were there for a business luncheon, and the setting was excellent. Very nice view, very good service, quiet sound level, and excellent food.
We go to Blu whenever we are attend a Broadway show in Boston. It is our favorite spot and the view is amazing.
Amazing view of the city! The food was excellent and loved the wine.
Wanted a restaurant for a special meal and reunion with long-time foodie friend prior to attending theater. Never tried Blu (25 yrs in Boston) before but had heard favorable reviews and liked the menu preview. Was pleased with the helpfulness of the waiter, the variety, quality and creativity of the drinks and food (featured appetizers and the cod and the swordfish). Was an elegant setting enabling private conversation, at a table with a great view of Washington Street. Easily finished in time for the show. Very nice!
An excellent meal. Tapas were delicious. Salad (watermelon feta) was great. Main course was very nice. Fast service and pleasant place. Highly recommended
The Blu served a fabulous meal. I have the sword fish, 'out-of-this-world', and my date had the flat steak medium rare, also outstanding. Both meals included a potato and a vegetable side, mine was mashed potatoes with asparagus, hers a side salad and sea salted french fries. The steak also came with a large block of blue cheese. Very delicious.
The service was helpful, fast and attentive and the main course arrived fast. We will go back for more.
Food choices exceptional. Very appreciative of the creative vegetarian options. Fish and beef cooked perfectly for non-vegetarians. Lovely decor.
We had a pre-theatre dinner at Blu. The staff were helpful and kind. The food was excellent. Wines were enjoyable and desserts were great. A great place close top the Boston theatre district. Parking in the building allowed close access to theatres.
What a fabulous view. The wait staff were professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The menu choices offered a good variety and the waiters recommendations were appreciated. Great food. A definite if you are planning on eating before the theater or just a date night.
Very pleased with all aspects of the evening - ambience, service, drinks, food presentation and quality. Definitely a decent restaurant for a nigh out in the Theatre district.
very nice variety of cocktails, food items, and dessert. Good sized portions, plated in an attractive manner. The location (inside the Equinox sports club) is a bit unexpected for finer dining ... the dining room is through a grab-and-go marketplace. Be aware that there are two dining areas in Blu - one is tables in a bar area (TVs and all), the other is a more traditional dining room (the areas are just around the corner from each other, not fully separated, and are decorated in the same attractive style. But, the atmosphere felt different in each).
Always a good meal. A favorite after a show at the Opera House.
It was very nice the view was beautiful and the food was also good. I would come here again.
Blu was a very small, quiet restaurant. The menu had a good variety and the food was delicious. The service was great and not pushy at all.
Michael, our waiter was a rock star with A+ service (a great photographer too), the food and wine were amazing and the views spectacular. They even cater to gluten free allergies and although very upscale were very child-friendly for our son. Highly recommend!
Ive been here a couple of times on dates and had a great time both times. The restuarant itself is really nice looking, the views of the theatre district are great, and the food was amazing. Our server. Michael, explained tons of dishes to us and recommended his favorites and also was just genuinely fun to talk to. He made the meal even better.
Excellent food nicely presented and at a fair price for overlooking downtown Boston.
Great ambience, service and food! My friends and I had dinner at Blu before a show in the theater district. We had a wonderful experience! The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were divine! (We each got the white sangria and were in heaven.) There were quite a few tasty looking selections on the menu. We all got something different and tasted each other's meals. Each meal was presented in an appealing way -- a feast for the eyes -- and tasted delicious. In addition, the view of the Paramount theater and downtown area from the floor to ceiling windows was awesome and unexpected. An added benefit was that we were able to access the restaurant directly from the public parking garage, which was so convenient. I would highly recommend Blu, especially for a special date or outing. We will definitely return.
My steak was cooked to perfection, but the dressing on my salad tasted mostly like oil. I had the beet salad and think that for the price, a bit more lettuce would have been nice. White Sangria was delicious. Our server was great! Very attentive and knew the menu well, from drinks to dessert (which we were too full to order because we ate all the delicious focaccia before our entrees). Overall, it was a pleasant experience!
Thoroughly enjoyable. There were 6 of us and we were all thrilled with the appetizers, meals and drinks. We didn’t leave room for desert but everything was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
This was our second visit to Blu and we loved it again! Our server was very friendly and accommodating when we mistakenly ordered two sets of appetizers. Oops. We almost called the other one back since it was so delicious. Our entrees were unique and delicious and the view is amazing. Bright and relaxing dining room.
Blu always exceptional as usual! Not a complaint! Great view of Washington St! Perfect post theater!
Blu is a great pre-theatre spot to grab a quick dinner. Wasn't crowded and the service was prompt. The food (we each had a salad) was very good...although the portion was on the small side, making it over-priced. It was more of a "lunch-size salad" (or a generous appetizer salad) - which was what I was looking for, a nice light meal. But, if you add some protein (salmon, shrimp, scallops, chicken), it wasn't quite the amount that you'd expect for $22-$24. The bread was wonderful! I'm planning on making this my pre-theatre "go-to" restaurant - but I do think Blu needs to either enlarge the portion on entree salads or reduce the price!
4th view of theatre area. Wary at first since you arrive at sports club snack bar. Blu is beyond that with full windows overlooking city. Scallop dinner was one of the best I have ever had. Husband had bolognese- also excellent. Great value especially in the city. Service was excellent as well. Timely for theater schedule. Read site for parking info/deal, helpful.
Excellent service and food. Loved the table for 5 (or could be 6) in the alcove. The windows are outstanding.
Great views of downtown. Excellent service and food. Great restaurant to enjoy a wonderful before the theatre.
The warm vegetable salad was a delicious and filling. The seasonal Watermelon Martini was incredibly refreshing. And, service was impeccable. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Blu and look forward to many more!
I’ve written reviews before on this very special restaurant. We love everything about Blu from the fabulous cocktails to the succulent meals. And an added note: they do change their menu seasonally too!
We have dinner at Blu before every ballet performance as we love the service, the view of downtown and the delicious vegan entree they offer.
Amazing view of downtown crossing.
Waiter was nice
Food was terrible. I ordered duck breast with red lentil and rice pilaf. I requested the duck be prepared medium/medium-rare, it came out very well done with a lot of fat still left to be rendered. Spinach was overly salted. Rice pilaf was unseasoned and tasted bland.
My friend ordered a steak medium rare which also came well done.
There are a lot better restaurants in Boston worth a visit.
My only negative comment was the noise level could be attributed to one, over zealous, but very loud waiter, working the tables next to ours. This can easily be solved by having the maitre d' observing, listening and correcting.
We had a great anniversary dinner with a nice view of down town Boston.
We love this restaurant for it’s vegan entree. We have dinner here each time we go to The Ballet. The atmosphere is lovely With the floor to ceiling windows and the service is very good.
Great food good selection of menu items, efficient staff and good ambiance. best for pre-show dinners! Fit for a date night
Daniel our waiter was excellent & attentive. His recommendations were spot on. Will be returning soon & requesting Daniel.
Food was fabulous!!!
A pleasant space with a modern yet elegant feel. The food is good but not spectacular. The service was very good. Be aware of large numbers of vagrants in nearby streets
On date night prior to a theater show we tried Blu. The food was excellent and staff even better.
We will return again, the view overlooking the theater district was great. the selections of both food and beverage was broad enough for all tastes. I will book another reservation when we re visit the city.
I always enjoy Blu. The wait-staff is wonderful as the bartender. I find the portions enough to satisfy the best "good eaters". I pretty much tasted everything on the menu and loved them all. If you are sensitive to salt, please ask your wait-staff to tell the chef to hold the salt. I find most restaurant over-salt things these days. Blu is not heavy handed on that, but with seafood, I would suggest that you tell the chef to hold the salt.
