The food was incredible, the view was fantastic, and the service was superb.
We were there for an anniversary dinner along with pre-theatre dinner. The ambiance was wonderful. The feel of the evening was relaxing and felt like we were at home. Our waiter was young and a good conversationist. The view was interesting looking over the architecture in the theatre district. The food was exceptional with a great twist of accompaniments with each meal The sea scallops with lobster risotto was outstanding. The cod with spaghetti squash was just as good and delicious. We would recommend Blu to anyone who is looking for a great meal.
The view was terrific - looking right out to the theatres before the show. Our waiter could have been a little more attentive. Drinks were left empty and dinner order was taken once we were done with appetizer.
Fish was over cooked. Appetizer lamb lollipops over cooked. It felt like the food was precooked and reheated or finished. Very dry.
The food was good and the view was great, but I couldn’t get past the shared space with the fitness club. You have to walk through the lobby of a gym and then a cafe (with smoothies and such- owned by Blu) to have this nice dinner. The workout music is loud and the whole experience is a cross between funny and annoying. There are just too many restaurants out there with similar food and much better ambiance to ever return.
We took our 7 year old grandson to Blu for dinner before seeing HAMILTON at the Opera House. We didn't know that there was an actual children's menu but figured we would share our meals with him because kids eat so little. He still ate little - but loved being able to select his own meal and the kitchen made him chocolate milk, his favorite! Taking younger kids to dinner in something better than fast food can be problematic, but he loved the grown up atmosphere combined with the ability to have kid friendly food. Thank you to Blu!
Good for pre theater dinner
One block from Boston Opera House
Wonderful place for pre theater dinner. The service was great, without the usual "are we going to get in/out in time" feeling. Lobster risotto is to die for, along with the scallops and swordfish entrees, and the watermelon feta salad. Will definitely go back.
We reserved for 5:30, arrived a bit early and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and was able to answer most of our questions. The food was beyond fabulous. I recommend the prosciutto and fig flatbread and the fusilli. The view from the restaurant offered a great look down Washington St. I went with my parents and will absolutely take a special someone here one day.
Beautiful view out the floor to ceiling windows, but dirty.
Food was quite good
Server VERY sweet but not knowledgeable about the wine list.
Would try again in the future
Great food, service, and value. A “goto” place if you are in Boston. M
Reservation was made for 11:30 - there was no one to greet us/ show us to table by 11:37. We had to ask if restaurant was opened. Poor start to dink g experience clouded the pretty good food and service.
It is usually quieter, but there was a private function at the bar. Scenic view I mean one can look down Washington Street and see all what is going on.
We have eaten at Blu several times with pleasure. Varied seafood choices and many other fine choices, too.
There was a giant happy bday party in a nearby room so the noise level was higher than usual.
Nevertheless, we ate v tasty starters- beef carpaccio, a mushroom soup and caprese salad. Entrees just great- Bolognese sauce over spaghetti squash and the striped bass with egg
Just too full for dessert.
Wanted to recognize our server but we hadn't caught his name. Our meals served promptly so we could head over to the ballet without having to rush. Hooray Blu!!
The valet parking is $40.00!!
Underwhelming experience. We started out with a great app (tapas) however the rest of the meal was not good. Both my wife and I had issues with our meals. I got the rack of lamb which was under cooked and my wife had the lobster sandwich. The bread on her sandwich was burnt and tasted like Charcoal. The waiter could not have cared less. I will say it’s a cool spot and has great views. It’s also close to the theatre however it’s not worth th price to have dinner here.
Great pre-theater option, with a view down Washington Street. Our server was earnest, if somewhat awkward. We guess he's fairly new. My wife's striped bass was quite good, as was my duck breast. Prices are decent for the quality offered. My Manhattan was among the best I've ever had.
We have been back twice to BLU. It is very convenient to the theater AND the food is excellent!
Had a wonderful pre-theater dinner here. Excellent food and service and beautiful views.
This was our first time at Blu. I had a Quinoa bowl which was very good, reasonable priced and enough food for lunch. The bread was good also. The tea was overpriced at $5. The service was very good also. We took out time at lunch and did not feel rushed.
The food was tasty and seemed reasonably priced. The service could have been a little better. Many of the patrons were attending shows at the local theater, but the wait to pay the check made us pressed for time.
The service was very good, I have zero complaints about that. The ambiance was nice as well, looking out onto Downtown Crossing and it was quiet. But the food was nothing spectacular. It wasn't bad, but I certainly would not have liked to have spent full price (we went during restaurant week) for what we got. Even if it was just seasoned a little bit better it could have made a difference.
The striped bass was overlooked and tough. Quite disappointing!
I had a great Bolognese, but my husband thought his lunch of cauliflower soup and salmon was just okay.
Our waiter seemed preoccupied and disorganized, though it was not crowded at all. He ignored us for whatever reason.
The decor was nice.
Interesting restaurant inside the fitness club. Great view. A good meal before going to the theater.
Blu was a great find. It is on the 4th floor of the Ritz Carton Residences and overlooks Washington street where the Paramount Theater and Boston Opera House are located. It was a wonderful view. The service was outstanding and as was the food. They also had a three course special for $38 that was a great value. We are definitely going back and I would recommend them to anyone.
We went to Blu during Boston Dine Out week and enjoyed a wonderful 3 course meal at a very reasonable price prior to catching a show. First 2 courses were delicious and very filling so barely able to touch the wonderful chocolate soufle. Waiter was very accommodating and never felt rushed as we sat and enjoyed coffee. The fact that it is so close to parking and theater was helpful.
We were dining before the theater and had limited time. The pace was perfect, efficient service but not rushed. The waiter had a good sense of humor, interactive but never too much, and we took his recommendations on drinks and apps and were very pleased. I had the pear martini.. has a pear puree and was really perfect. Not too sweet, not to much alcohol taste. We had the fish tacos .. fish was fresh and pefectly cooked and the salsa was fresh fruit and a bit of heat. I had the scallops with lobster risotto which was very rich and creamy and delish! We had a few macaroons for desert and they were outstanding. Fresh, tasty and the selections were prefect.. I recommend the passion fruit for sure! The view is very fun, overlooking the buzz of the theater district! We will come back!
We came early for lunch and discovered it was Restaurant Week in Boston! Great offers like ratatouille was over the top! My husband had fish and chips skrod which was absolutely delightful.
Good food good service fun bar tender loved the Bartlett pear cocktail all together a 5 star experience
Excellent food and service in a cozy space right in downtown Boston.
Our Blu experience was fantastic. The wait staff were extremely attentive and personable. All of our dishes were cooked perfectly. We had a great done experience!
The overall experience was excellent. I ordered the Broiled haddock and it was a little soggy and could have used some more flavor. Other than that the meal was excellent. we ordered a calamari appetizer and that was excellent. My partner's meal was cooked to perfection. There are excellent views which are amazing and the service was supberb. Also, I always could use a little more space between tables just for privacy.
Food was cooked perfectly - hot and delicious. Fried calamari not to my taste but my husband (a chef) loved it. His steak entree was fantastic and my scallops were excellent.
Lovely dining experience. Had show tickets so took advantage of their 3 course pre fixe (restaurant week)
Drinks were reasonably priced & served attractively.
Service was first rate.
Great food! Drinks were made so stiff we could barely bring them.
Loved the food and the views! The views were wonderful. Look forward to coming back. Staff was very attentive and personable! Have already recommended friends to eat there!
My husband and I met two of my cousins at Blu for dinner and a drink before walking to the Parkman Bandstand in the Boston Common to see our son perform in Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's production of Richard III. I found Blu on Open Table and was pleasantly surprised with the view, the food and the service. We loved the bench seating - very comfortable. The food was outstanding and the service was really perfect. I will definitely return!
David was my server and he was superlative. The food was some of the best I’ve ever had, and the view was amazing. Worth every penny.
I requested a window seat and they had ine for us. The server was awesome and tge food was great.
