Great pre theater dinner. A bit pricey but good quality.
We hit Blu before the theatre and ate st the bar. The drinks and food came quick and were both perfect. 5 stars, would recommend.
Also, the view from the bar is amazing!
A very nice downtown restaurant for friends and/or pre-show. Not a place for foodies per se, but a good range of food, well prepared and delivered.
Lovely space, excellent service , scallops and risotto were devine.
We had a wonderful dinner at Blu. The waitstaff was pleasant and attentive, the view is great and the food was excellent. We were going to the theater afterwards so the location could not be beat and we did not feel rushed. We definitely would go again and recommend it to our friends.
Overall great experience..Had dinner before a show..Wife made a slight modification tonher meal that was not communicated to the kitchen..but they handled it quickly ...A must place if in the area
I wanted it to knock my socks off. Food was good but more average than I hoped. Ambiance and service were great. The food reminded me quite a bit of Henrietta's Kitchen in Cambridge which is fine but I just that the food seemed like what many places are doing.
Blu is our go to restaurant pre-theatre. The service is always good and the atmosphere is lovely with the floor to ceiling windows with views of downtown. My husband and I are Vegan and their Vegan entree is one of our favorites in Boston.
Great view of the theater district. Food and service was excellent. Will definitely be coming back.
We will definitely be back...the food, waitstaff and overall experience was excellent!
A wonderful experience for my wife’s birthday.
Delightful view of downtown, comfortable venue, attentive waitstaff, and tasty menu items prepared with very fresh ingredients.
We loved the herb crusted cod and the bolognese, salads were fresh and delicious and appetizers were excellent!
This was not our first visit to Blu and as in the past it did not disappoint. Food was delicious, we both had the Bolognese. We were heading to the ballet and they made sure we got out in time. We'll be back.
Really wonderful service and great food!
Only problem was no towels in the ladies room even after I told the hostess twice
Was confused on the noise level part but the noise level was perfect. Created a great atmosphere but was also private. Very much enjoyed and can’t wait to come back
have been to blu on several occasions and have enjoyed my experience always! had the same server on most of those occasions (unfortunately cannot remember name right now) and he has been attentive without being intrusive. the food is well presented and delicious- the cod and the beet salad are yummy and my go to- however wish there was a special or seasonal menu change for variety. never have room for dessert but the dessert menu is lacking. have requested to sit in bar area at time of reservation and request was fulfilled on all but one occasion. great hidden gem!
Great atmosphere, beautiful view, and amazing food
It was a great discovery in that part of town. We’d all go back.
Always top notch
Excellent food, service, setting and view! Thank you.
Had a very nice lunch at Blu for Restaurant Week. The room is very pretty and the food was very good.
Couple of issues though:
The dessert option did not match what the RW website says. ("Chocolate Molten Cake
Vanilla ice cream, warm chocolate sauce.") This was a bit of a disappointment, as I select the restaurant based on the menu.
There were also a number of snafus regarding the check, including forgetting to add the beverages and (as I realized after we left) charging for more people than there were in our party. This has been corrected, but it led to a lot of confusion figuring out who owed what with the changing amounts.
Really cool atmosphere and location. Food was just a bit bland. Great service and great dessert though!
We had an excellent meal at Blu. The bone-in short ribs were delicious. The servers were great. They asked, up front, if we were attending a show later and ensured we were done with dinner in time to make the show. Great experience.
While the restaurant does have some very nice views, only a limited amount of seats gives you access to those views. Most of the restaurant looks out into neighboring apartments. It was quite dissapointing mainly because we'd gone solely for a good view of the paramount sign. The food was okay, not memorable. Ordered the lamb and flat iron steak
Excellent experience at Blu. Food was very good, well presented, and served by a friendly waiter. Environment was visually compelling; noise level low enough so that we could have a good conversation.
Drinks were generous; much appreciated. Desserts were large enough to share. Thanks!
Our server was very attentive and quick with beverages, but the food took FOREVER. This was a business lunch that should have been about and hour but took two full hours. The restaurant was half empty so I'm not sure what the issue was. This is my second time here and both times the food took way longer than it should - so be careful if you are on a time crunch! When it did arrive, the food was excellent - but maybe that's just cause we were all starving by this point.
Food was amazing service was great...perfect lighting and view of the paramount
The waiter was great! And the food was delicious.
I loved the ambiance. I felt like I was in the middle of Times Square in one of the great hotels looking over the lights. It was a cold night and sitting by the windows was still very comfortable. I asked for chardonnay and was told they had a chard from France or from California and that was all I needed to know. It was very good. It was restaurant week so we ordered from that menu which was very affordable but the regular menu looks good. We are definitely planning on meeting there again for drinks!
Great customer service, food and overall experience!
Food was good - salmon very well prepared and scallops were cooked well. It was not a particularly memorable experience so not likely to return but nothing negative, just not anything special.
It is generally very pleasent but on this evening there were a large group of women talking loud so for about 45 minutes the noise level was very high. It was just one of those nights... Blu is one of our very favorite restaurants.
Maybe it was due to the date, but the restaurant was pretty empty, the food was not so great (to cooked, not very nourishing), and the view during the day is not worth it.... I would not recommend it
Food was fabulous! Service definitely could have been better, our waiter was not on his game. Overall would recommend
Very happy with meal and service. They were very accommodating when we got stuck in traffic and ended up being late about 20 minutes. We did call to tell them we would be late but they understood and didn’t make it a big deal. Great view
The menu was great. Lots of great options it was hard to decide. The duck was amazing.
Only complaint is the wine by the glass selection was limited.
This is a great place to eat pre-show, and the views create a nice experience. Service was good and most of the food we ordered was well-prepared. Two people in my party ordered the swordfish and were disappointed; it was obviously frozen, not fresh.
A great place to gather for a pre-theater dinner. The food was delicious, the service was great, and it got us to our theater reservation in perfect timing.
I’d like to share an experience here. I attempted to use a gift card valued st 150$ and was told twice it did not have a balance on it.
The card had never been used before this evening and was never out of my wallet. The next time I tried to use it I was told it had 1.00 balance. Again, never used. The value was checked that night and showed 150$. at the time I was attempting to pay. After checking the account it showed 4 purchases totally 149$ a few days after that evening. I did contact the manager who denied any responsibility for this. I’m not accusing anyone, just find the circumstances suspect.
The card company said that you had to fill out a claim, not the restaurant. Cards are cloned all the time, we cannot assume that it was our staff. You cannot accuse my staff of any wrongdoing before the credit card company is done investigating. If they prove we did it, I'll take full responsibility and take the proper actions. Hopefully this will be resolved soon and we will be cleared. Meanwhile, we will do what we do best, which is provide good food and good service to all our patrons.
I have never left a bad review before so this is a first. One of the worst meals I have had. I have been before and thought it was not that bad. This time it was awful. Wife ordered fish tacos which were cold. I got a salad that I couldn't even eat and then the Chicken. If you told me the cap fell off one they were sprinkling with spices it would make sense. Chicken was dry and had way to much spice on top to a point where i had to cough after every bite. I tried to will my way through.
Blu is a great place for a pre-theatre meal (I am sure it equally good at other times, too). The restaurant is several floors above ground, so the view of Washington Street and the theatre marquees is most pleasant, like a micro version of Times Square. The only disappointment for this classy and expensive restaurant is the restrooms, which are not even as nice as a typical office building.
